I may be a bit older than KB and find that the typical 0-60 mph times of these e-vehicles are insanely quick. In our day, only speed bikes could accomplish those times....a 0-60 mph of less than 6 seconds was considered very fast. Just hearing these avg speed times is seriously impressive.

Gotta hand it to Audi.. every single RS model is just beautiful. Our shop just had a 94 Rs2 come in today with a broken crankshaft (rough day) but damn it... even the most basic Rs out there, and its still just gorgeous. Very few "average consumer" manufactures can even be mentioned in the same room as Audi for the ability to make a gorgeous car. -Audi tech at a well known Audi performance shop

My experience with digital speedometers is that they tend to lag. By the time it shows 60 MPH you are actually going faster. It could be (should be) that Audi took the violent acceleration into account when designing the electronics, and used a high sample rate. The bottom line is that a stop watch, combined with the vehicle's speedometer, are poor tools to measure acceleration with such a powerful vehicle.

That’s a great point. It’s interesting because a lot of the time Audi undersell their car’s 0-60 time for no apparent reason. Consistently like .3 quicker than advertised when actually tested. Would’ve loved to see proper telemetry on this!

@@danielfish101 Cars are more just 0-60 though. Because a 1000 HP car is quicker on straight line than 700 HP doesn t matter the former the better car. I would take the Audi because i think the car is well tuned car and drives better than the Plaid in term of ride quality. You can drive it on long trip or track, or in town and it will deliver.

I went with the Plaid even though I think the RS eTron GT is my favorite looking EV - the Plaid is just so much more intense over a whole second faster 0-60 with 2.1 - 2.3 and now with the track mode from software update you can really dial in the handling dynamics of the car allowing some to put more power to the back and dial down computer correction so you can drift and smack down some donuts - I am still a huge Audi fan and keeping my 2021 TTRS for quite a while - gotta keep the sound and that light weight nimble feeling and it isn’t slow doing around 3.5/3.6 0-60

One of my biggest complaints is no one is gonna be able to afford these things. And replacement batteries are gonna be as expensive as a new engine. The problem with plaid is the narrow small steel brakes like a 75D 😂🤦🏻🤷‍♂️RS GT is 100% perfect premium sports saloon whit incredible ceramic brakes and handling, plaid is only fast in a straight line, and horrible handling and brakes 🤷‍♂️🤦🏻😂

Having both driven and ridden in a taycan turbo s (which this this car basically is, just tweaked a little different) I can vouch that they are stupidly quick and go around corners like they’re on rails and the brakes (especially the porsche carbon ceramics) are also ridiculous😂😂😂

I'm gonna disagree just a little with Ken... I think the lack of "soundtrack" from the drive train is a problem; for me it's an important piece of the whole experience of driving a car fast. The engine noises, the gear box, the bangs and pops of the exhaust, to me they're such a critical experience of enthusiastic driving. One of the most fun feeling cars i've driven in the past, was a Fiat 500 Abarth, with the exhaust in "sport" mode. You get all these wonderful bangs and pops and burbles and other noises that just make the car that much more fun, even if it isn't mind melting fast. It's like having a happy little puppy tugging like crazy at its leash, yipping and barking like mad because it REALLY WANTS THAT STICK! I think electric cars are great and have their place and utility, but every time I've driven one spiritedly, I've felt the lack of the soundtrack. They've just never stirred the soul like the sound of a beautiful exhaust. That e-tron though is pretty sweet.

100% agreed man. Does this car look slick af? you bet. Is this car fast af? you bet. But holy hell it does nothing for me. There is 0 sign of it being pushed to the limits. With ICE cars you can hear every gear and time you let off the gas and all the extra gas is burned making that gargle back fire noise. You know an ICE car is pushed to its absolute breaking point. Then you got this where its just like ehhhh K it went fast but like where the F is the sound. I know there is rally team that was working on a mechanical sound device that was supposed to WOW us ICE people but all it did was make the rally car sound like a weak F1 car.
