You really should add a bypass fuel pressure regulator and a return line to the fuel system, it will remedy the vapor locking and help with those AFR spikes. Earls even makes vapor guard fuel line just for that issue.

Remove that fan too! It’s a solid mount fan. That’ll rob about 15-25hp. Build a shroud and put an electric fan. And I agree, go Holley sniper 1250

Digging the c10...just my 2 cents for what it's worth...she definitely needs more jet in the secondaries also if that gauge is correct, the fuel pressure is definitely a little high. Step up the secondary jets, drop the fuel pressure and readjust the carb. As much as I wanna see that c10 all hopped up on the giggle gas...get her running right first...then spray the sh@t outta it!! Lol

I was born in 84 so I grew up when electronics really started to progress in the fact that a break through one year would be obsolete the next. Understanding hardware/software and wiring is simple to me, but when you throw in a old school mechanical carburetor I don't even know where to start. Sometimes the simplest stuff can seem so confusing when it's really not....but we like to over think and mind fuck solutions to basic/simple problems to which the German thought process comes to mind 😛

That AF ratio at idle is a simple idle mixture adjustment. Use a vacuum gauge and adjust it to it reads the highest number. Secondary jetting needs one or two steps richer. You can burn a piston if you spray it with that AF ratio. Should be in the 12s soon with some tuning

The C10 is cool, it's got character. I think it would be cool to make it blown, with EFI and electronic ignition. The old skool stuff is fun, but with the upgrades you have more tune ability and more safety features to keep this sweet bigblock alive.

I never had a clutch fan before and my sister was selling a 3.7 jeep liberty with that vortec engine for cheat and thought " ok something to add a trailer to haul small stuff. Noticed my temp was high. Changed the water pump, hoes, Hell even the radiator with same results. Went to the store and parked next to the same jeep and asked the owner if i could check under the hood and explained my reason. Right away i noticed that Fan Shroud. Bought one, Installed and I never over heated again. Shroud it or electric fan it . Hope your tip helps someone that is reading. I for sure learned a lesson

Summit sells cool jet kits for the carb. Power valves, billet metering blocks, billet base plates are nice upgrades that give you more tune ability. Generally your idle circuit is gunna be what you're cruising around on, till around 2,500 rpm, but that can change depending on your tune up. Carbs are just controlled fuel leaks. Figure em out pretty easy with the wideband. 12.3:1 is where my big Ford likes to be when running hard.

If the fuel pressure is that high it can aerate the fuel in the bowls causing a lean condition. Back it down to 6psi. Also, us big block guys would like to see what the casting number is on those heads when you pull a valve cover off to check valve lash.

Add some transfer slot restrictors on the primary side of the carb, and more secondary jet to start with. Jetting is close, shouldn’t need too much more. A fuel system with a return line will do ya a lot of good too

Needs more secondary jet. And maybe a good look at the air bleeds. You are 100% about the wideband. The other tool/gauge you need to dial in a carb is a vacuum gauge. But both are just helpers, the plug will tell all.

Ik this is a month old and they probably won't see this. I have a big block in a 66. And I'd highly recommend running fuel lines away from headers and get some really good fans. I had a ton of issues with vaporlocking even when fuel lines were pretty far from header.

The carbs are like dinosaur fossils but thats all we had back in the 90's and my dad was a big block guy so 1150 dominator double pump was the ticket back then. He ran a 2000lb Bretta running a 113 60' and we never had nitrous so we could consistently run low 5's while racing bracket.

Dude you can look up a couple videos real quick and get a basic understanding of a holley carb...they are super easy.. the idle mixture screws need to be adjusted..you just hook up a vacuum gauge with it in drive sitting still and adjust each corner to make the most vacuum..then jetts and power valve for part throtlle to full throttle..the power valves have numbers on them like a 4.5 or 6.5 and once the vacuum in the carb drops below that is when the power valves open.most guys set it up where the power valve number is half of what it makes at idle for vacuum..so if its making 12 inches at idle you would put a #6 power valve...
