After I got cancer this year I had to take a hard look at fear. And I've found when my mind is showing me fearful things I embrace them with love and enthusiasm and it melts away. So, even though I was in a lot of pain I was still conscious and enjoying the moment. Had to use everything I've learned about mediation and spirituality. And all the meditation I did over the years helped so much. So, thanks Leo for giving a good base to get through this and actually use it to grow.

I was rewatching Avatar: The Last Airbender now that I am a lot older, and in one of the episodes a sage is sitting in a swamp. He claims that he is enlightened, and that all things are connected. He says, "Fear is an illusion, and so is death." The show actually has a lot of tidbits that Leo has spoken of, which I find incredible. Maybe that is part of the reason I liked the show so much as a child and didn't even realize it! Is it possible that we all have a subconscious pull towards the Truth, but we are so enshrouded by the illusion of fear and death that most of us never see it?

A warlord invades a Japanese village and everyone in the town either flees or is slaughtered/enslaved. The warlord walks up to the village's only Zen temple and the only person left in the temple is an enlightened monk. "Surrender to me or I will cut your head off!" says the warlord to the monk. The monk smiles and seems unfazed. The warlord is angry. He yells, "You fool! Don't you see that I can run you through with this sword without even blinking an eye!" The monk responds, "Don't you see that I can be run through by your sword without blinking an eye." The warlord is shocked and amazed and drops his sword and kneels to the monk.

Supreme King the power in his response is that if you have nothing to lose you have nothing to fear, and if you have nothing to fear you have everything to love and attain Vs if you’re always flinching or clinging to something you’ll always be under the control of something else other than you, an executioner, financial loss, whatever, In a similar way, bullies stop picking on you when they see that you don’t care and stop reacting to their remarks, and in being in that grounded state of mind, when you do decide to fight back you can do so fearlessly and be grounded enough to know when enough is enough so that you don’t overdo it So, with all this, nothing really owns you, you’re a free agent of god’s will, you have no worries, you have no cognitive dissonance, you have no indecisiveness, just pure will and power that was given to you by giving up your will and your power, the monk has power over the warlord because he owns the warlord in the sense that the monk identifies himself as the warlord, but the warlord himself doesn’t identify with the monk so therefore he is triggered and worries and gets defensive if the monk goes against “his will” To get a better understanding listen to Alan Watt’s lecture “Do You Do It Or Does It Do You” Towards the latter half before he starts talking about compassion he gets really deep into our ideas of power and control are People who can’t balance themselves this way lack “power” you fail to recognize from the story above Some people watch only a few of Leo’s episodes all the way through, (not that you are one of these people idk) and still have many questions about what his long term listeners and other videos of his mean, that’s because they haven’t watched enough or better yet contemplated enough to understand what can’t be understood, Leo wasn’t kidding when he said the more you watch his stuff and contemplate the more you’ll see the bigger picture of things pop out and questions you’ve had before will answer themselves Leo has an episode called Recontextualization, you can pair it with a 30 min video recording called “Sudden Enlightenment” by Alan Watt’s from his lecture named “The Joker” I found that listening to those two vids a few times over really helped me to understand the nature of how the same knowledge or “sayings” can change over time just by contemplating about it in your daily life and experience, so much that you start to see “deeper layers of understanding” or “deeper stages of thinking” as Leo and Alan Watts have put it And by contemplation we mean contrasting all questions and objections you have about a topic with your present moment direct experience Hope this helps, don’t take it the wrong way,

Fear is there to maintain whatever you identify with… Key insight: what you are is defined by your fears, and what you fear define what you identify as If you identify with loving your family, that is your identity, If you identify with your career as a successful business guy or a great artist, that’s your identity Fear are wrapped up around this identity, If you identify with your possession and you identify, Fear is relative to whatever you identify with, could be fear of losing hair. Whatever you fear You are going to be battling with throughout your life. Skeptic identity is being afraid of either being wrong or deluded Question your own skepticism. Why do you trust skepticism, why do you trust something that is driven by fear. Afraid of believing the wrong thing… scientists, we’re rational we don’t want to believe falsehood your fear of being deluded ends up making you deluded. What you fear is losing all your attachments, that is what you call death ultimately. What is it that you Fear …a total loss of self..fear boils down to a total loss of self.. Fear is protecting you from losing your self Psychological death, fear of the loss of their self image. All fear is imaginary… including the fear of death.. there is no substance to fear…. Become conscious of how all fear is imaginary, change your attitude towards work, relationship All fear is falsehood… all fear is lack of consciousness.. The trick is that society conditions us that fear is inevitable and that fear is totally normal and that There is nothing we can do about it. Because society is not interested in truth. It turns out that one of the remarkable thing about Truth with a capital T is that it transcends all fear… because it transcends survival deep connection between fear and falsehood, between fear and illusion. When you are afraid you are trapped inside of an illusion, but the illusion feels so real that you don’t know that it’s an illusion and therefore that just heightens your fear even more and then you start to believe that the fear is real. And then it becomes this sort of self fulfilling prophecy where something that isn’t real seems like it’s the most real thing that there is, that’s the trick that the mind plays on you. Society is built around Survival, Society is built upon using your fears against you to help you to survive How do society sells you stuff, by pushing your fear button Turn on the tv and listen to the commercials, how do business sells you things, by going right for your Fear, pushing your fears button Key insight: Fear is resistance to a future experience

Leo, my wife and I lived through your example of becoming homeless on the street, going through the withdrawal from our material life, and both of us went through times of near-suicide. Our transition to homeless was very sudden, a consequence of my nefarious career choice in Mexico, and we literally started over with just our clothes that we were wearing. It's been almost exactly one year now, but the fear of that happening again is effecting us in so many aspects of our life. I am imagining that happening again right now, and I am definitely feeling fear just reliving these memories now. We're not homeless anymore, and we did get ourselves out on our own before once, and we both talk about how it was actually a very helpful experience but extremely terrible to endure. Now that she is diagnosed with cancer and started her first cycle of chemo, and she is unable to help with income much anymore, we are both feeling this fear more and more. I'm glad you made this video, this is something that I now know we need to work on. Very good video. Very deep.

The abundant mindset is needed to grasp the information at Actualized.org. A scarcity mindset will get uncomfortable learning here. I came here with this limited mindset a year ago, unable to understand a damn word. But the more I stuck around this community, the more insights started to take shape. Get uncomfortable and let this information dig deep into you. You will be grateful in the long run.

a good insight id like to input is that you cannot have an ego death or be in the state of no ego and have fear at the same time. Like Leo said fear is a mechanism of keeping what you identify with and since death of the ego is realisation of no identity, the two cannot coexist. So i highly encourage if you are to fully understand what is being said here, that you aim for an ego death, psychedelics are very helpful for your initial separation of the ego mind, after that it is actually not very difficult to induce, i recently had an ego death just through meditation.
@franda7775 жыл бұрын
@kenan mass no to really gain true understanding of what fear is and where it comes from you need to experience the fearless the state of no ego, thats really what it means to be in a state of fearlessness is to be in state of no ego, fear literally cannot exist without the ego, because without ego the is "nobody" to feel fearful. it goes deep.

I introduced a colleague of mine to some key Videos produced by Leo, particularly this one. As a "Mother Apart" due to a bitter Mother in Law, Abusive Husband, and travesty of "justice", I didnt expect any great immediate "light bulb moments", in her. Leo, I have to say (again) that your work here is absolutely incredible. I hope you realise the scale of the impact your insight can give to those people capable of understanding. Life Changing. For me, your definition and analysis of "Fear" protecting the layers of "Sun" like essence of Identity, and Ego and so on was a massive light bulb moment for me. Bloody hell; im still fizzing. For her, the same definition, made her realise that the travesty that left a MOTHER, childless, literally shattered her Identity as a MOTHER. This naturally resulted in complete turmoil, and emotional fragility whilst her Ego was desperately trying to defend the very identity the legal system decided to make redundant. 2.5 years Leo of Identifying as a Mother, but no ability to actually Mother!. This one video, has underpinned the stability and recovery process, and given a very clear course of action for her. That is to Adapt her Identity, as a Mother, to a Mother by proxy. This will allow reconstruction of her Identity, No longer vulnerable, no longer pining to actually mother, no longer suffering the pain of "what the f*ck happened", no longer fearful of being "destroyed again" when tackling the matter in the legal system. The New Identity, will be improved, bullet proof and very much aware of the role of her Ego and how to make it work for her. Clearly with a shattered identity, the Ego, is a bit of a free agent. Id be grateful for any comments, you might care to make, as id love to know your opinion what might drive a Mother in Law to seek this type of action? and perhaps is there a defensive measure one could employ to combat the type of control and manipulation the strange woman commands. Currently digging in to the University of Leo. (Toxic People) I say again; Thank you. Moments of tearful joy and many golden nuggets of wisdom. You're something else.......

How fear works “Tell me who you are and ill tell you what you fear Tell me what you fear and ill tell you who you are.” Fear is not a psychological problem or a human problem Why does fear occur? At the existential dimension. People barely teach fear because they don't understand it, we don't put importance on it where you would think to find understanding of fear like science, scientists are full of fear they usually don't know how it works so why learn from them about it. Fear might contradict current culture and science. Fear dominates your entire life -peter Ralston You’re fish in water a human in fear swimming in fear every day of your life this is deeper than an emotional problem-constant fear. And you don't even know it. The majority of your emotional system is outside your awareness its controlling you. Fear is a survival mechanism it's the thing that keeps you alive, it's not only that. All emotions are elaborate and sneaky or subtle. Fear is there to help you maintain whatever you identify with--maintain whatever you think you are. Survival is not just physical it is conceptual-social-cultural emotions are important facts don't exist in reality all that exists is emotion. You can kill your self image by not avoiding fear. You cannot have an accurate perception of reality or do proper science if you are in fear. What you are is defined by your fears and what you fear defines what you identify as. Identities like being a human of a physical creature or real Identity is like the sun it has various layers to it the layers become denser and denser when we say your identity is the edges of the sun and the inside you cant be another way like being its easier to detach from your car then your family then to being a man or a woman it's hard to detach from being a human then a gender. You make yourself up to be this way out of thin air this is what your identity is as a human being you fear losing all of your attachments this is what you call death. total ego death or loss of self. All fear boils down to the fear of death. Psychological death or death of the self image. Suicide bombers don't fear death they fear being a bad Muslim this is how powerful identity is. Identity is relative it's hard to change it calcified Fear is constructed from the mind and is never objective or found out there then its projected outwards. ALL FEAR IS IMAGINARY try validating this, the fear of death is imaginary. Become conscious of this it will change your view on so many things relationships, war, and politics. Everyone is scared shitless and all fear is falsehood and a lack of consciousness if you were totally conscious you would not fear anything you cannot even imagine a life without fear. There is no objectively dangerous situation even if you run into a bear it only depends on what you identify with Truth transcends fear because it transcends survival this is the way to realize Truth. Fear is an illusion. If you think the fear is real, it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy society doesn't care about truth it cares about survival. It uses fear against you for survival. Your controlled through fear. Even high quality stage green fears are imaginary there's levels of delusion. Low level is being afraid of homosexuality or other religions higher fears are global warming or environment going bad these aren't completely irrational but there is a problem with the fear itself, Under the materialist paradigm where they think death is real fear seems legitimate or when you run out of money or when you meet a wild animal. There is nothing scientific or rational to fear. Radical terrorists don't want to disobey their god so this surpasses the fear of death so they suicide bomb in the name of truth. Which in reality is just another religion that became hideous. The real god allows this freedom you made up your whole life out of thin air, it's just a story you invented. You must misperceive reality in order to experience fear. If you know what death is you wouldn't fear it keep your mind open its possible all fear and death is just a misperception of reality and maybe death is an illusion. Maybe it's not true that no one can know what death is. Bring up a fear and feel it. Your not going to contemplate fear while a bear is charging you it's designed to keep you alive. Survival takes precedence over truth. Its a reaction without knowing why or what it is. Notice the times you are in fear and instead of reaction unconscious you can pause, feel it consciously and mindfully and ask what is it where is it why is it here what's its function and purpose. You only have fear when your in a bind. If you want to transcend it you have to change how you react to it start to feel it before you react to it it's counter intuitive. Every cell in your body will try to react to it. Real power is standing calmly and consciously in response to grave danger don't put yourself in grave danger most of your fears are relatively minor start with small stuff. Fear is resistance to a future experience the strength to experience everything (the strength to be okay with your daughter down an alleyway sucking dick for cocaine) Understanding this will transcend fear. You don't want to experience what you fear you refuse to experience without resistance. Consciousness doesn't have to do with god it has to do with this. Be able to cut off your hand experience everything without fear. You become conscious that you realize no harm was actually done and that pain never existed, you have to stop identifying as a physical body. The only way you can do it is totally align with truth. Use your imaginative mind to come up with radical fears that are with you that you don't even know this takes lots of consciousness and work fear is directly attached to survival. Brute survival trumps everything, Attachment creates fear. The solution is to surrender yourself to the very thing you are afraid of. Your beliefs logic and ideals are survival at work fear is the base/foundation of the pyramid and it gets less important as it goes up your logic does not touch your fears. Fear of being poisoned (Donald Trumps fear) the Russians are the masters of poisoning this tells you that he fears being crossed WRITE DOWN ALL YOUR FEARS (not going to give them here but that would be another fear for it to be public) Most common macro fears below Macro fears below There's thousands of these kinds of micro fears you will notice more and more. Become aware when you fear, notice micro fears and how it shapes your behavior and affects your thinking not just in your actions but feel them more rather than just reacting fear is not held just in the mind but tension in your body you have a lifetime of fear in your body. Fear happens in humans collectively Life is a love simulator another way to say that is to say life is to learn not to fear fear and love are inverse to say life is a love simulator is that life will present fear over and over again and life is trying to teach you to transcend it life grows your love the fear is an illusion this requires consciousness don't deny or avoid the fear confront it head on facing it so deeply that you won't react the same way when it happens again. It will probably take a long time to realize fear is an illusion. Confront your learned helplessness confront your mental behaviors obsessive habitual negativity boils down to fear. Confront the worst of it feel it. You will get relief and this will help you. Face your own greatness fear is a poor survival strategy sometimes it's healthy and effective but human life is more complicated than bears in the woods fear is a self fulfilling prophecy Fear of being authentic Fear of facing yourself being your best self. Face fear of death - You cannot manipulate your way out of death YOU WILL FACE The more you run from it the more you feel stuck in the fear There are real dangers in the world when it comes to relative fear and its healthy for physical survival this is a good short term survival strategy but never a long term. Fear is status quo fear is not for great change a great society has to be built on love Homework Observe your micro fears at the end of each day you will write down your micro and macro fears for the next 7 days contemplate the following question: How are these micro fears realized to my identity? How is my mind projecting these out onto the world? How am I creating these micro fears? How are your thoughts shaped by your fears? How are your actions shaped? What am I unwilling to experience? Leo, it's difficult to reply to a 2hr+ video, and I honestly have not reached the 10minutes mark, but there are already a few things I would like to say even though I don't know if you will cover this "part" of the topic of fear in this or the second part. First I want to say yes, a simple argument can't make you overcome your fear. It's the same with love or every other strong emotions. When you are in love with a person, and 4 others warn you about that person you love, this doesn't make your love being less in the slightest. The conscious mind can't override the emotional part of your brain. But I digress. I wanted to state 2 things for now. 1. I had fear of my landlord for a reason that would be too long to describe here, and no intelligent argument from others helped. What helped was a casual sight I had. A dog taking a shit within a property of a stranger. As I saw this, the fear I had till this moment was suddenly gone. Why? Because I than knew, I'm free to leave the place I'm currently living and never have to deal with this landlord again. I suddenly knew it, felt it.. Although much of the arguments were exactly that: why not just leaving? Second thing is: I hope you will talk about unexpected fear. I mean fear like an illness. The fear which get normali treated with anti depressions. (I don't know how to call this, translated from my language it would be general fear or something.) basically you feel a certain way, which is not normal, and you are fearful of being deathly ill, which makes the physical Symptoms even worse. So, yea, have a great day leo!

My first micro fears were not being able to recognize what my micro fears were when attempting to do this homework, and not remembering what all of the homework assignments were. This ties into my identity of being a good student in college, but also the fear of failure in this work because I'm supposed to be a good and productive person. My attempt to cope with this fear was Thoughts, Unwillingness, Micro, Macro. TUMM. This way I don't forget. Meanwhile, I can also surrender to the experience of not being good at doing all of the homework, this way the same fear does not boil up next time I might forget to do my homework.

Loved this-- micro fears are such a wake up call. The quote at the beginning was a perfect dig into the talk around identity & so profound. I am kinda good at noticing my feelings & tension in my body but sometimes I get completely lost in a crazy thought or day dream lol before hand. I have intermittent tiny bits of mindfulness and thought/ day dreaming all day.

I used to do a variation of this back when I started, it's a good meditation but in the end "Do Nothing" or "Awareness Watching Awareness" is the best. What I specifically did is imagine myself being tortured and suffering the worst emotional and physiological pain possible. Seeing my loved ones die in front of me, tortured, then this happening to me, seen myself isolated and rejected socially etc... This is an hard meditation that I don't use nowadays but I sincerely believe that it needs to be done at least once.

Boredom is simply the mind wanting more stimulation and excitement than what’s present. It’s saying, “what’s here right now isn’t good enough”. If you bring enough consciousness and awareness to so-called boring and mundane tasks, and witness them with a beginner’s mind (see them as if for the first time) they’re no longer boring! Because this is life unfolding before your very eyes!
@Alex-vf8uv5 жыл бұрын
What's interesting is that psychopaths (people who lack emotions) have two things that they experience; Adrenaline, boredom. I think it's then confirmed how boredom is not an emotion but rather a lack of stimulation. I think what Desmond tried to say is that the lack of courage may be causing you to hesitate to take action and do something mentally stimulating, but I don't think it was worded precisely. Psychopaths have zero ability to feel, therefore, you can call them pretty courageous. They have no fear, frankly, and yet they tend to be bored quite often. Boredom is indeed interesting.

Notes: What you are is defined by your fears and what you fear defines what you identify as. All fear is imaginary (including the fear of death). When you are afraid you're trapped inside of an illusion but the illusion feels so real that you don't know that it's illusion and therefore it's just hightens your fear even more and you start to believe that the fear is real and it becomes this sort of self-fulfilling prophecy where something that isn't real actually seems like it's the most real thing that there is. That's the trick that the mind plays on you. You're gonna create a sort of gap, a little breathing room between the fear and your reaction and you're gonna have to start feel the fear before you react to it and that's a very counter-intuitive move. Fear is resistance to a future experience. Surrender yourself to the thing that you are afraid of experiencing in the future. You become so conscious that you realize that there's no pain there in the first place. You become so conscious that you realize that when your hand is cut off that no harm was actually done to you. Common real active fears that run a lot of people's lives (macro fears): • the fear of not being good enough • the fear of failure at your career • the fear of going broke or your business collapsing • the fear of competition in your business • the fear of your spouse leaving you (or your girlfriend and boyfriend breaking up with you) • the fear of being alone (like not having anyone there with you at the end of your life, dying all alone) • the fear of aging and loosing you youth and losing your attractiveness • the fear of health problems • the fear of never having sex • the fear of being embarrassed in public • the fear of wasting money • the fear of looking stupid • the fear of other people's opinion of you and their judgment of you • the fear of other people's thinking that you're a bad or evil person • the fear of criticism • the fear of making the wrong decision • the fear of being wrong • the fear of disappointing your spouse, children or family • the fear of loosing you faith or your religion • the fear of sin and fear of going to hell • the fear of being seen naked • the fear of loosing your freedom, fear or being stuck in wage slavery forever • the fear of gaining weight • the fear of giving in to your cravings Micro fears (they dominate your life): • the fear that you've run out of toilet paper • the fear of getting caught in a lie • the fear of offending some co-worker by saying something • being afraid of being late to work • the fear of saying the wrong thing • the fear of reading email • the fear of client not liking the work that you submit to him • the fear of checking your phone • the fear that the grocery store will run out of whatever item you want to go buy • the fear some restaurant you're gonna go to gonna have a long line on Friday night and you have to wait for an hour to get your food • the fear your parents will catch you jerking off • the fear of looking someone in the eyes • the fear of that pimple that you've got on your face • the fear of loosing your car keys • the fear you might have caught a cold • the fear of talking to your boss • the fear your breath smells • the fear that you have something stuck in your teeth • the fear of being pregnant after sex • the fear of the store closing before you get there • the fear of cleaning your garage • the fear of doing your taxes • the fear of overpaying your rent • the fear of confronting a person • the fear of telling your parents the truth about something • the fear of giving your honest opinion • the fear of skipping a gym • the fear of going to the doctor • the fear of making a mistake at work • the fear that this meeting that you're going won't turn out well • the fear you forgot something • the fear that someone hasn't texted you back • the fear that you'll never find your life purpose • the fear you'll have to work overtime this week when you don't want to • the fear that someone is judging you • the fear that your co-worker is talking and plotting against you behind your back • the fear your company might fire you • the fear you'll incur some credit card fee • the fear over starting a new project • the fear of calling someone on the phone • the fear of checking your bank account • the fear you missed a great opportunity • the fear you'll break a good habit • the fear of someone yelling on you • creative anxiety Action steps from the episode: 1. Start to notice micro fears. 2. Start to observe how fear shapes your behavior. 3. Start to observe how fear affects your thinking. 4. Start to feel micro fears rather just reacting from them. Fear isn't just help in the mind. Fear is held as tension in your body. Life is a love simulator = Life is about learning how not to fear. How is fear overcome you might wonder. Ultimately through consciousness. Not by necessarily avoiding the fear but by realizing that the fear is an illusion. Confront your fear by surrendering (stop resisting). Fear is the opposite of relaxation. Home work: • Create list of micro fears • How are these micro fears related to my identity? • How your thoughts are shaped by fear? • Create list of macro fears • What am I unwilling to experience?

Fear is huge for people in our society and the world, yet people do not talk about it, I have battled with pretty severe anxiety all my life and I already know a lot about fear and my own triggers, but it does continue to persist, even though i' am very aware so have to keep facing them and you are totally right, its all in the imagination, its very freeing to realise we scare ourselves by imagining all sorts of fantasies! Had that fear too, that my children would be ugly, your children will be beautiful believe me, you have good looks, sorry is it Theo!

Leo, I have had one hell of a mystical experience when it comes to fear. For years I have been fearing microwave radiation coming to us in the form of WIFI. This fear was based on research done and many experts claiming that its harmful specially for children. When 5G was announced, I couldn’t believe we would have antennas so close to our homes without anyone trying to prevent this. Some tried, , but the plan still continued to be rolled out. One day as I drove to my children’s School, I saw that the 2 previous installed lightning poles were changed into new ones, ones that support 5G with cones that hides the sight of the antennas. I was shocked specially because a week before I wrote to the School and expressed my concerns. I did not take a picture because of course I did not own a smartphone 🙂. The following day, while driving with my hubby to show him, the newly installed poles were gone and the old ones were back in place!!! No signs of digging, nothing. What had happened? Had I created those poles? Maybe some holographic nature here at play? After that experience, I have attempted to research the true reality of nature mostly through Quantum Mechanics and stumbled upon the famous Double Slit experiment which shows that it takes an observer to create anything solid really.....incredible I have no more fear now, they can put any antenna right next to my home now. I will not perceive it as harmful since I believe it’s holographic and not really there, have experienced this myself.

This video is exactly what I needed! You explained very well what Napoleon Hill meant when he wrote that we attract what we fear. When I wrote my list of my biggest fears, things like my fear of heights or spiders didn't even come to mind. 90% of the things you listed were on my list. And 95% of the symptoms of years of fear are problems that I have. As I said, I needed this, and it came right on time. Thank you!

Leo is right! When he said that the "I had a dream" speech didn't really arrive from fear. Your dreams and goals you run after is NOT soley due to fear but more of because of love. A few weeks ago, my aunt told me I have 2 years to find a good-paying job before she'd kick me out because she's retiring. I know it's still two years, but I panicked. Despite having a longer deadline, what she's asking seems so impossible in today's economy. Especially, since I'ved lucked out with my past jobs of late. I told my dad, and he told me that I'm not actually banned from living with my parents instead. That froze me in my tracks. I suddenly realized that I love the peace I have in the absence of my psychologically abusive mother. And I would do anything for that peace. And just like that, my fear went away. It was replaced by love. The fear of living paycheck-to-paycheck and barely making it is nothing, NOTHING for my love with peace and sanity that the absence of my mother had brought during lockdown until now. Truly, I'd rather not live with her again. Shared living rent space and minimum wage in 2 years, here I come! Take that, fear!
