A lot of films allegedly based on true stories have done it. What we know of the story and what really happened behind the scenes could be two completely different things. Take "Sully", the movie about the plane landing on the Hudson River. I'd never seen the movie, but I'm sure there was some dramatization concerning the passengers and crew, including conversations among the passengers before the plane went down and among the crew before they went out to offer drinks and snacks.
