Brendan Canty is one of our generations most influential drummers from one of our most influential bands, Fugazi, but thats not all. He's a documentarian, film producer, record producer and multi-instrumentalist. He's worked with Wilco , Eddie Vedder, Lois Maffeo and The Thermals to name a few. Since Fugazi's indefinite hiatus, Brendan has produced dozens of records, scored several films and started his own projects Death Fix and Messthetics. In 2018/19, he was also the touring drummer for The MC5. Somehow, he's never been too busy to be a genuine, nice guy with an unrelenting work ethic. In this episode Brendan tells about the first time his parents came to a show and how Fugazi escaped a riot at their own show in Warsaw.

Brendan true legend, really nice guy, was pleasure to met him and talk a bit. That show what he's talking about was in Warsaw, Poland at Karuzela in 5.10.1990 that was first Fugazi's visit in Poland. Maybe you can still find some video footage on yt.

Brendan is pretty much the nicest person in the world& his wife is too. When I told him the Amps were playing tonight, he said he heard they were not that good. Of course Kim Deal rules. lots of chats outside of shows with this fool. Plus he was open to recording bands. I saw him & James backing Ted Leo in the beginning & that was horrendous.

Brendan was kind of a d*ck when you first called him, but in the actual interview he seemed really genuine. Brendan Canty is an amazing drummer, one of my favorites.

i saw them live in 94 in jacksonville in a small place with about 30 to 50 ppl watching. no stage and the crowd just standing there right in front of ian. we were talking to him between songs. i also saw their last tour in ventura theather. both were amazing.
