The problem with french tank tree is, because of the lack of vehicle developpment between june 1940 and the Liberation, that it's difficult to find domestic tank to put in rank II-IV. Late 1930s projects, some vichyist projects and beutepanzer, some 50s US toys... Light tank: FCM 36 - SA38 - to get a little love from the mighty mobile pyramid with a decent gun (rank I) AMD35 CDM OR AMD 178B. The CDM stand for Camouflage du Matériel, basically, a secret vichyist upgrade of the AMD35 with the fitting of a 47mm gun in turret OR post-Liberation upgrade with 47 mm SA 35. That's basically the same thing (rank II) Mediums: Somua S.40 phase I - front-reinforced S.35 with better tracks and engine (rank I) Somua S.40 phase II - the same than previous, with a 2-men ARL 2C turret, still the famous 47mm. (rank I or II) (premium?) SARL 42 - Vichyist project, close to a S.40 fitted with the SAu-40 gun in turret. Would be something like a asmathic sherman! (rank II) Sherman M4A1/M4A3 (76) - Provided mainly to the french 2nd Armored Division. Probably not necessary, as France have already a bunch of Sherman on steroids (rank III) M-47 Patton - France uses 800 of those until the 80s. (rank V) M-47 CN-105 - Fitting of a AMX-30's gun on a M47 done in 1967 by the Arsenal de Bourges for export purpose. No sales. (rank V, premium) Heavy: Panzerkampfwagen B2 (F) Flammpanzer - Beutepanzer, replacement of the front 75mm by a flamethrower, the turreted 47mm stay (rank I, premium) M26A1 - Provided in the late 40/early 50 (rank IV) SPG 10.5 cm leFH 18/3 auf G.W. Good list. I believe that the best French light vehicle that could be added to the game in the 8.7-9.7 bracket by far is the ERC 90 F4 Sagaie 2. It has everything you could dream of. 90mm with APFSDS and HEAT and a semi auto 10 round drum that boosts the RoF to 10 RPM, two plane stabilizer, 1st gen thermals, 29 HP/T thanks to two massive Peugeot engines in the back and a top speed of 100 km/h. It's amphibious as well (2 m/s in the water). And it's not just a prototype. It's been exported into at least 1 country (Gabon).

I am fully 7.7 and started grinding 8.0 just now. I can only imagine the pain when reaching AMX-32 and 40. I was quite surprised by the Mephisto, but there are still many vehicles missing. Like the AMX-10 APC, which is in some regards a french Marder. Or the VBA wheeled chassis like the Mephisto but with twin 20mm on top, or the mentioned ERC-90, which surprises me isn't in the game yet

(I love the French TT. I think a big issue about the player base is the lack of event and premium vehicles) A few additions I suggested from my own research: AMX-32 P1. The AMX-32 turret but with the 105mm of the AMX-30. Suggested BR: 8.7 The Leclerc T4. A french prototype from the 90s of the Leclerc S1 with a 140mm cannon. Suggested BR: 10.7 The AMX-10P 25. AMX-10 armed with a 25mm autocannon. Would be comparable to the Type 87 from the Japanese. Suggested BR: 8.7 AMX-10 PAC 90. AMX-10 armed with the 90mm used on the AML-/ERC-90. Faster than the AMX-13-90 but a worse reload. Suggested BR: 7.3 AMX-30C2. An AMX-30 with a stabilizer. Since it is from the 90s we can expect it to have at least 1st gen thermals, APFSDS and a laser rangefinder. The powerplant was also improved if I'm recalling correct. Suggested BR: 9.0 AMX-40E4(concept, never actually built). The AMX-40 project saw some struggles. The powerplant was too weak and the tracks were too thin. The armor was inadequate compared to contemporaries. Therefore they removed the 20mm from the turret and added a lot of frontal armor. It was enough to stop 105mm APFSDS. They widened the tracks and improved the engine power by adding a secondary turbo. Since the only setback in game is the lack of armor and mobility this could be quite strong. Suggested BR: 10.3 Some other additions: I would love to see the Osorio 120mm at BR 10.0. The M47 Patton and the M47 Patton(105mm) M26A1 AMX-50 with 90mm cannon of the Char 25t(APHE goes BOOM) I would also love to see the SPHYNX. Even though it is basically a Jaguar EBRC I think with weaker missiles it could be a good 9.0-10.0

AMX 10 P 25mm : eh...it's huge, if you want a Type 87 equivalent, there's the RPX 6000 with the same turret (so they get S T A B), a VAB wiht it too or the ERC 25 with a different turret but also stab, or the Sherpa with CPWS 25 which could also act similarly. 10 PAC 90 : It's basically a MARS 15 but bigger, it's huge compared to other better options. You have the ERC 90 with the same turret and 2 variants with a stabilized 90 (the 1983 Sagaie I and 1985 Sagaie II with TTB190 mounted), the VBC with (TTB190° and without stab (TS90) and the VAPE I and II which are export variants of the stab VBC and ERC. there's also the VBC with the KEWS turret. And both ERC and VBC with Lynx turret (AML turret with LLTV + LRF, which the AML also got) AMX 30 (CH29) is from 1975. You are confusing it with the AXM 30 C2. Might want to add the V,VE, and Valorisé (M453) to fill up too. And both X32s with 105mm. AXM 40 E4 was never built. Only P1,P2,P3,P4 (the one ingame).

I recommend a video playing France at 6.0 with the CA Lorraine, ELC AMX, EBR, and the FL10 M4. I’ve been running that lineup just to have fun and decompress my brain from 11.0, and being pretty consistent at 5-7 kills a match without much variance when playing against different nations. Tons of fun, bit of a challenge, and great flanking potential.

France has like five or six potential SPAA vehicles that fill all its gaps, I really don't know why none have been added. The pre-1960 AMX-13 DCA has the same turret as the AMX-30 DCA but without radar or APDS rounds, and could make a great 9.7. Basically a heavier Falcon without the anti-armor capabilities

They could literally copy paste the GMC M45 or M16 (yes France used both of those), then reuse the GMC chassis with Flak38 (4x 20 Oerlikon), modify the M16 into the GIAT M16 (twin 20x102 guns), reuse the AMX 13 chassis for dual 20mm (twin 20x113) (TA20 one and reuse the "Santal" they modelled as TA20, it's the same turret) and that one S401A proto you talked about. Maybe reuse the Santal model for the TA23 (23mm + Mistrals) as well. Clearly smart investment could save the AA line. Most of it is recycling assets or minor modification.

I think an interesting vehicle that could be added for France is the Vespa 105 TAP (the Bazooka Vespa). I couldn't find anything about it fireing on the move or even with the gun still attached instead of set up in a position on a tripod, but Popular Mechanics says in an article, "shooting from the scooter is theoretically possible, there was no way to reliably aim while riding". As long as it was theoretically possible, I don't see why not. It would probably be around br 4.3-5.0 due to its 100mm pen but insane mobility and small size.

It even had 8-inch tires and it is said that "The front-line riders found the machines dependable, simple to fix, and incredibly mobile, too. While originally built for tooling city streets in Pisa or Florence, the banham Vespas proved they could handle rugged terrain"(Popular Mechanics). I don't think it would be very fast off-road, it would be very fun. As I stated before, Popular Mechanics said, "shooting from the scooter is theoretically possible"(Popular Mechanics). Also, even though it has 105 in the name, it only carries "the American-made M20 75-millimeter recoilless rifle under the seat. Giving new meaning to the moniker 'crotch rocket'"(Popular Mechanics). And that's forgetting that many of the french vehicles we have in the game were nerfed by Gaijin for some reason. The AMX-40 had good turret armor for its BR (as it was historically the case) on the Dev server right before its release but for some reason, Gaijin removed that armor on the Live server. Same goes for the Leclerc, that went from 5 seconds reload to 6 seconds reload for some reason. The reason Gaijin isn't giving any attention to France's tech tree is supposedly because not enough players are going for it. Which is a self-fulfilling profecy since Gaijin always makes french vehicles bad. It's nice the Mirage 2000C wasn't bad on release. That's actually incredibly rare. But Smin made it clear that France won't get anything nice for a long time because of it.

The Bloch MB157 is pain since it only has 20mm Hispano with the 60 round drums. Meanwhile I'm seeing reference that the actual MB157 fighter (which was completed and flown under German control by Vichy France) would have had 4x 7.5mm MG's in the wings plus the Hispanos. 120 rounds of light cannon ammo go very quickly.

Another great way to give france a boost is to fix the gun wobble. Just compare a vehicle like the amx-30 with the leopard 1. The amx will take much longer to get on target. France has a lot of these vehicles and it really hurts them a lot especially in warthunder where first shot capability can make or break a tank

I believe a good start was to make the Leclerc somewhat realistic. Performance wise, a Leo 2A5 is faster in game than the Leclerc, which is plainly stupid. The Leclerc has a turbine acting as a turbo making it one of the fastest accelerating mbt currently, but its simply not the case in game. And yet the turbine is counted in the weight of the tank. The upper front plate of the Leclerc is ridiculously under armored. Gaining took informations from some unknown source es and refuse to listen to people giving real estimates from known sources in the forums. The Leclerc SXXI should have a turret rotation of 40 degrees per second and yet in game it’s still the same 24 as the other Leclercs (that’s public knowledge and there’s a lot of real videos of the turret traversing at this speed) The Leclerc can reload in 5s. Just like the type 10 can reload in 4s. But while the two of them usually reload a bit slower to protect the system, the type 10 in game reload at its best while the Leclerc still has that nerf which is infuriating because aced leo2 just happens to reload in 6s, just like the Leclerc, rendering the Leclerc autoloader useless. The Leclerc still uses the old OFL120 F1 round, when there’s much better APFSDS that both the S1 and SXXI could recurve, which would give them penetration slightly lower than the 2A7 (a DU round, the OFL120F2, which gives a 12% increase in penetration (600 to 690 mm according to Wikipedia), or the OFLE 120 F1b or the OFLE 120 F2, the first one should be similar to the F2, but is not DU (because Frances stopped using DU they made a similar performing Tungsten) and the second one should be even better but it’s still very classified)

Gaijin can add the OFL F2 for at least leclerc S2 and SXXI (it can pen 690mm of RHA at 2000m IRL) and being competitive against other MBT. VAB VADAR (double 30mm AA gun) double 20mm* "VAB SANTAL (AA mistral missile) The SIDAM Mistral is considered shit because the Mistrals can't hit anything and only the 20mm are useful. Now imagine it without the 20mm or the mobility of the tracked vehicles, you get the SANTAL. It's like the japanese SPAA but HUGE, slower, and without thermals. Good luck. "EBG (equiped with à 142mm démolition gun 10kg of explosive in each round)" 300m is the max range on the EBG's gun. have fun.

the gun of the jaguar have 2 firing mode if I remember, the 200rpm one is the precise mode and there is a quick firing mode ar 400 or 500 rpm. What an incredible afv.

i think the biggest adition to the french tech tree would have to be the vbci with 2 atgms and an auto cannon it would be put in place as a french bradley, dardo, srot of thing so french could have a similar vehicle

The SANTAL they picked is also the single worst version of that vehicle design they could've added. The other two designs (Under different names) had either cannons, or cannons and thermals, on top of the Mistrals. Not to mention the Mistrals themselves are massively underperforming currently, lowest agility estimates are at 25G.

I would also add Brazil as a sub tree for france. The wheeled vehicles all use french guns and optics, For older vehicles are the same American ones on the french tree. And on top tier the osorio would use the french GIAT. Also the 105A3 is used by Brazil. Mostly indigenous vehicles with focus on French 90mm guns with similar gameplay.

I like to play historical lineups when playing War Thunder. France is odd and is missing numerous vehicles it used in real life: AMX-13 DCA (has twin 20s), M16 MGMC, M47, M4A3(76), M24, M24 with FL11, LVT-4 (105), LVT-4 (20), and more armored cars than you can shake a stick at including a couple versions of the reserve Panhard using rank 1 German guns.

Are you perhaps interested into the ones with quad 20mm ? there's the one on the AMX 12 chassis and the Swiss AA with quad 20mm and radar.

You need to push Gaijin to fix how bullets and shells actually operate in game. The fact that APHE balloons backwards (for example in a cupola shot) is absolutely ridiculous and needs to be changed. A huge part of this games enjoyment could be fixed if they simply had weaponry behave in the way that it truly does, not the lambastic approximate that we have to live with today.

I have been planning on making a forum post about what vehicles could be added to France (tier by tier) to beef it out to the extent of the UK's, it's got sporradic additions so far, but my favourite I've come across is the AMX-Javelot. Basically an AMX-30 with an AA rocket-shotgun on it, while development was expensive, it was cheaper to fire than the AMX-30 DCA. A low tier video would be really cool too.

I think the VAB VDAA would be a more likely candidate than the M3 VDAA, sine the VAB chassis is already in the game. They're already adding a missile carrying version too, so they could be complementary.

VAB VDAA is a 6x6 variant. however, most recently, they didn't model the 6x6 which could have been used for the TA23 (which cis the VDAA with additional Mistrals pods, so guns + pods) and instead opted to give France the Santal (which only has Mistrals), effectively nerfing the AA line with a less than useful vehicle.
