I have stopped storing fuel in plastic containers, you are quite right in only keeping it 3 months, in my experience 3 months in Tropical Queensland, it is starting to go off. If you store it in steel Jerry cans, German army style and kept full, it lasts 12 months plus and is still good to go. I think steel jerry cans seal better and exclude oxygen and moisture from the fuel, which to me seem to be a cause of fuel deterioration. Over here you only have to leave a plastic fuel container out in the sun for a very short time and they swell up like footballs and then shrink when cool. This was what made me change to Jerry cans. They were designed to cope with that. Also a little 2 stroke oil helps stabilize fuel, Thanks for your video, was informative.

There is a station near me that sells ethanol free gas. I use that in all my small engines.

I use av-gas (aviation gas 100 octane low-lead) gas in all my small engines, and ethanol free gas in cars.

Why does my lawnmower still work after it sets all winter with old gas in it?

Do you use gas without methanol? That’s the key. No methanol gas. Real gas. That’s what’s best.

Because it's fine, it's not that long. Alcohol in today's gas absorbs water too. Most people don't know that. Today's engine are designed to run on today's gas.

@greenspiraldragon I guess when you incur a repair charge from old gas, then you will understand .

I'm 70 and all of my engines work fine all of the time by following one simple rule, empty all gas from my engines (lawnmowers outboards chainsaws, etc) in the fall or not in use for any length of time. put fresh gas in when you want to use it. If there's no gas in the engine to go bad then there's no problem

IMO not necessary but by all means do what you want.
