You're right, this was a depressing video :p Naah, it was good fun watching this, I liked to see the early stages of your build, it's a shame you didn't finish it, it sounded like a cool idea! But totally get the reasoning for abandoning it! The worst thing about doing a big board like this is storing it, and if you're not that invested then having it kick around is annoying... but who wants to throw something you've worked on for so long into the bin!? Nice to see another vid though!

I enjoyed this and you set the stall out from the off for those who wanted to bail out. Shows that there are times we'll all need to take stock and change course.

Well, like so many projects this one had to be shelved... But it was quite nice to hear your thoughts about it!

Really liked the concept, shame it won't get finished but I understand the reasoning 👍

Damian, do you have social media or any digital platform where you share pictures of your work? You are doing great work that inspires to get back to painting SBG! Thank you for that.

Thanks Erik, that's very kind. As well as my Hobby VLOGs on here, I post on the Great British Hobbit League Facebook page a lot. In addition, Tom and I produce our SBG Fanzine which we release 2 issues of each year and that is always full of everything we've been painting. You can normally get some idea of what our next issue will be about based on what I'm painting! :-) - Damian

Saruman believes it is only great projects that can hold hobby fatigue in check, but that is not what I have found. I have found it is the small vlogs; everyday chats of ordinary hobbyfolk that keeps the doldrums at bay. Simple acts of glue and paint. Why Bilbo Baggins? Because he is a REALLY tiny miniature that can hide all sorts of painting mistakes, and it gives me courage.

I'm surprised that they're still having the event at all, given the larger situation. I thought that was going to be the reason it wasn't completed, as I've seen a few people here in the US who were making display boards for Adepticon, which was cancelled.

Hi John, I think you may have got your timelines confused, this was uploaded late - the board was being built for the GT in February which went ahead before the lockdown :-) - Damian
