As a young Guinean studying in Paris at that time. The period of Murtàla and Obanjo in terms of foreign policy was, specially Africa centric foreign policy could be seen today as the golden era of Nigerian diplomacy. Mon Dieu, quelle époque héroïque et historique de la politique étrangère du Nigeria. My God, we need that viral Nigeria back today to put an end to coups and chaos in French speaking Africa. My native Guinea and Mali are the perfect illustrations today! Long live Nigeria. Que Dieu tout-puissant bénit le Nigeria et son peuple.

That was when, by the Northern agenda, Nigeria selected incompetence, ineptitude and mediocrity over excellence, integrity and competence. The likes of Azikwe and Awolowo were rejected in favour of a school teacher who had zero clue on how to move the nation forward. NPN regime was full of crooks, mediocre rulers and unpatriotic lot. We lost it then, and it has been downward spiral ever since.

@@JOA-JADE The only thing from what you mentioned exclusive to the North is Boko haram/ ISWAP (who are currently only strong in literally one state and are being overwelmed). I don't even know where you got Al Qaeda. The very fact that you think everything else is somehow exclusive to the North without any research just goes to show just how overbloated your superiority complex is. And as far as I know, Southerners and Northers have been alternating governmen t in Nigeria since the return of democracy in 1999. Yeah, the south totally doesnt have problems; no corruption, no 419ners, no cultists on campuses, no problem of criminal gangs, no murder of policemen and burning of police stations in the southeast, and you TOTALLY won't be lynched by an angry mob on the streets of lagos, no judge or jury, if someone calls you a thief or a kidnapper; just ask the those 4 university students that were burnt to a crisp, they'd know. So yeah, total saints, you are. Listen carefully, the sooner you get off your high horse and realize that playing the blame game won't take you anywhere, the sooner you can all come as a country and actually adress your problems together.

@@strpth414 hmmmm, talking of leadership since independence you will note that we have been plagued as a nation by succession of visionless Northern rulers. Yakubu Gowon abolished parliamentary form of government, substituting it with a very expensive and corrupt unitary system. The Aburi accord was to signal a return to parliamentary democracy but we know what that led to, the expensive civil war. We had tremendous opportunities to lay a solid foundation for our democracy during Gowon era but his lack of vision and direction led us to the costly and unnecessary civil war. Then came the likes of Abacha, who is still sending money to Nigeria from his grave today. Buhari and Idiagbon's era was to instil some discipline in the nation albeit with Islamisation of the country agenda. His regime was truncated by the evil genius Babangida, who is arguably considered as the grandfather of the modern day corruption in Nigeria. I have no animosity with the Northerners as a people. They have not benefited from predominantly producing the leadership of the nation although the waahabian islamism majorly practised hasn't helped at all. If we had continued the regional form of government we most probably would have progressed as a nation, at least by the regions with the most visionary leadership. I am of the opinion that Lord Luggard's amalgamation in 1919 was a mistake. The North should have been amalgamated with Niger or Chad who share similar values with them. The prevailing poverty and underdevelopment birthed the evil vices seen all over our nation today. We have an opportunity as a nation to change our narrative by electing the likes of Peter Obi but I won't be surprised if Ahmed Lawan becomes the next president. Please tell me what single accomplishments he has to his name to date.
@strpth4142 жыл бұрын
@@JOA-JADE You just won't give it a rest will you. Need I remind you that the people who dissolved the parliamentary system in the first place and initiated bloodshed by murdering the founding fathers of Nigeria were southerners. Some Northern Military heads of state have done some pretty bad things, but you seem to have this tunnel vision going on; North = bad, so therefore someone like Abdulsalami is automatically evil and South = good, so someone like Ironsi is automatically angelic. Islamization of Nigeria? Don't tell me you're one of those conspiracy theorists. You really think some guy in kaduna cares whether some other guy in onitsha practices Sharia or not? By the way, fun fact. Yakubu Gowon, one of those Northern HOSs that you hate oh so much.... is a christian. Peter Obi? Isn't that guy a politician from the contesting for president in 2023? Oh, so this was all just a campaign huh? It all makes sense now. Well you've got the wrong person to campaign to, unfortunately. I rest my case.
