Don't worry this is a Purcell Principal case. The chaos it would create is 2 fold. 1. How can they hand count all the votes and submit them in time. 2 How many poll workers will need to be hired and trained to complete the task. By state law it is mandatory that the local and state officials certify results. In Georgia, county election officials are required by law to certify their election results by 5 p.m. on November 12 and immediately send those results to the Georgia secretary of state.

It would need to go through the courts. Lower, state SC then SCOTUS. The thing is the Purcell Principal will come into play. It says no changes close to an election IF it causes chaos and confuses voters that they might not vote. The chaos part is extra burden placed on poll workers in hand counting votes and how many more poll workers would be needed and trained to complete a hand count in a timely manner. The Purcell Principal has stopped many changes and is the go to SC ruling many cite. Veasey v. Perry is one such case.

We used to always do this. Each precinct has a Max of 3,000 ballots to count. Polls are opened for 12 hours. That's 3,000/12 ~ 250 ballots /hour. An easy task for most people. In Georgia, they have three people counting + the machine. At the end of each batch, the results are compared. counter1 must equal counter2 must equal counter3 must equal machine. Simple, save and accurate.

I've voted where there were over 30 different races. It's not so bad when it's just one contest on a small piece of paper. Just sort ballots by choice and count the the number of ballots for each choice. Try doing that for 30 separate elections on the same piece of paper. There can be some contests (especially local/regional boards) where it's multiple candidates and voters vote for two or three candidates with the top two or three winning office. That's going to be very difficult to hand count.

Theoretically Georgia should be quick since they have onsite ballot tabulators where each voter inserts a paper ballot (output of a touch screen machine). They count in real time and have results as soon as the precinct is closed. But then again, Georgia had long lines where some precincts in large cities had people waiting until past midnight to vote. And now they’re adding the delay of this hand counting of the number of ballots. I’m trying to imagine what it’s going to be like having workers there since early morning and possibly still counting ballots until the wee morning in a precinct with long lines.

Since the Supreme Court has pronounced that Presidents have immunity for any official act, Biden just says OK, I hereby inaugurate Kamala Harris as the next president and relies on the military to lock down federal buildings.
