I don't have mental health problems, but I think a lot of people who do would find more peace in their lives if they listened to what you stated here. I love minimalism and think it helps prevent a lot of issues of mental health .

Totally agree. I feel for people with mental health struggles. Overall, as people, we didn't used to own so much. That has really ramped up over the past few generations with marketing and consumerism. I don't think humans were ever intended to over consume and own so much hence why most people (not all) feel much more peace owning less

True, I am also on a decluttering journey BUT the real problem is that the fact to declutter also causes anxiety. The full room of stuff that I have to go through, sort out, drive away for recycling or donation takes so much energy and is sometimes worse than just closing the door and leaving it there untouched😢
@carmensegattini6 ай бұрын
I absolutely agree! For me it helps to go slowly and take it step by step. I also listened to calming audiobooks like “a monks guide to a clean house and mind” or other decluttering books. Good luck with your journey - it’s worth it 💖

I do 5minutes a day at the same time every day - that way I never miss it. It might take a few months to get through a room but it’s worth it!

My experience was the same as u. I think it was bcoz it was hard letting go and didn't know where & how to start. I started my decluttering last year and to be honest it isn't just one or 2 time activity. There were items that I didn't want to declutter last year when I checked & decluttered last month, I was easily removed despite 10x of decluttering. Decluttering reduced my anxiety /stress/ worrying by 70%. Before i was too emotional and clingy to things and impulse buying. Recommendation is to start with easier first - duplicates, not used for a long time, bit damage (I started with kitchen & bathroom) last - closets, hobbies - plants ) For donation, sale or rubbish bin - if u are capable and do not need cash much, better to donate & if not for donation - throw them away coz only donate only that can be used. Place in a bag/ wrap in a paper if item is precious or meaningful to u but need to let go - and say/talk to that items and say 'thank u' , this helps the trashing one. Also, while decluttering, much better to listen to KZbin channels that talk about decluttering esp the benefits of declutering /mini. Goodluck and I hope it would help u with ur condition.

So true and beautiful! 😍 For me, owning less means I see (almost) only things that I love everyday and that makes me happy

This is so good! I also shop mindlessly esp when it comes to clothes. Being an entrepreneur helps me be more mindful of how I spend

Thank you, Lisa! I can totally relate - shopping mindlessly, especially for clothes, can be so tempting! Being mindful about spending has made such a difference for me too, especially as an entrepreneur. It’s all about balance. 💪💛

I’m at that point now where I’m getting rid of a lot of my possessions but for me is to have less means that I will have more peace of mind and allow me to not be overwhelmed letting go of material things and allows me to trade it for experiences and should relieve my stress 😊 a lot of what you described resonates with me and I will definitely continue my life more free

Beautiful video, in my case, maximalism has improved my mental health, seeing different colors, shapes, and textures helps me to cope with my depression. All my walls are full of pictures, I have 50 plants which keep me motivated, beige walls and neutral colors make me feel sad but I completely agree we should have organization and things are made to be appreciated not stored in boxes and letting go is key to be grateful and in peace.

How do you manage to get rid of things which have so many good memories?
@carmensegattini6 ай бұрын
I take time to honor the memories, with photos or a journal, and then focus on making space for new ones. Sometimes it helps to keep one item that represents many memories. All the best with your journey 💖
@ZachAgape10 күн бұрын
@@carmensegattini that's helpful! my tactic so far has been to take a picture of the item so I can let go of the item itself, but then I get digital clutter instead-less bad/visible/heavy, perhaps? but still a form of clutter and I do struggle with too many pictures/videos and lack of space. Then the big difficulty for me is finding enough time to sort through it - but I suppose just like with decluttering a room, I could take 5min to go through some of the pictures each day?
