Hey everyone it’s Randy from game & gig. Today’s one minute game review is on ghost of Tsushima from Sucker punch productions.
When ghost of Tsushima was first announced I was amazed by the visuals that were presented in the trailers. But I decided to pass on it because I’ve been pretty burned out on open-world games for a while now. But after almost 2 years of Being told how amazing the game is, I finally broke down and decided to give it a go.
Yes, Ghost Of Tsushima is an open world action adventure game that draws a lot of inspiration from similar games, such as Assassins Creed. But what sets Ghost of Tsushima apart from other games is its extreme level of polish and attention to detail.
The game’s runtime is not artificially bloated with pointless fetch quests. The main storyline is a well paced, tight package that at no point feels unnecessary. The art team created a world that is amazingly stunning but that also feels realistic and appropriate to the setting. And, with a move that was thought to be impossible in the gaming industry, they hired voice actors who actually cared about delivering half-decent lines - in two different languages. The combat is easy enough to casually grasp, but complex enough that, if you want to get into the weeds, you can really learn the mechanics and become an absolutely unstoppable machine.
Ghost of Tsushima is a phenomenal example of what an open world action-adventure game should be. Even if you’re burned out on the genre, I would give Ghost of Tsushima a try.

Awesome review. My biggest gripe with the game was not being able to play with some of the other weapons we seen in the game. Would've been great to use a spear or naginata but oh well. Hoping to see a sequel and maybe they will add it in.

Thanks! Maybe in a sequel they’ll expand the number of weapons! That would be neat! -Randy

Ive never stopped so often to take in the scenery with a open world game before. I mean most open world games graphically are impressive but the direction of ghost of tsushima is consistently jaw dropping. And the combats so much fun

@@GameandGig does it have more content and exploration? Rdr2 was a very nice purchase for me, the content was wayy too much, ( which is basically what I'm looking for) So I just want a game that I can mostly explore. Should I go with Spidey?

I mean, when you off to main quest, you will get distracted by simple side quest, gold bird , fox and etc. Also Sucker Punch make game to people to enjoy and trophy hunting not grinding. All game i played, i just end and delete the game because other game trophy need u to restart and grind hard things

A bad one like Assassin’s creed or ff15 fills the world with uninteresting junk and lass af side quests and it feels like a chore…here, the game world is well designed that even if there is nothing functionally there, you get to enjoy the landscape itself

The overall gameplay loop or “formula” can become tiresome once you’ve played all the main big budget ones. Many people have expressed fatigue with open world games due to genre becoming so oversaturated, many longstanding franchises in order to avoid becoming stale within their own genre or to do something new will transition their franchise into an open world setting like we’ve seen with zelda and souls. This can lead to longtime fans being disappointed in the new direction and all adds to the wider overall fatigue of these types of games.

JESUS GOD NO... Some trite open world... no thanks, BOTW and Elden Ring exist to render these half assed attempts utterly irrelevant as they should be... Its always up to japan to take the next big step on conventional game designs, becuase they have uncompromised creativity, while western developers are just a bunch of posing pretenders that play it safe and think that's what should be expected of every game, to play it safe. Same trite formula that ubisoft uses for every game, and some other studios want a piece of that profitable boredom pie, sold to pig consumers (havent bought an ubisoft game since ps2 days). This game is more of the same open world western formular, boring to the bone, repetitive as hell... It's just a silly sandbox like spiderman, horizon, assassins creed and such... Just terrible and shallow. I recommend Elden Ring, it does open world way more right than any other game before it... and still doesnt do open world "right", even tho it's the best up to date at it.

@mailusphoenix8894

@@Wurzelgnom94 nah, game's just poop, get elden ring for some perspective XD.. They sure can coexist, but saying Tsushima does open world right, over a year later, the week or so that elden ring comes out and shatters the notions of what open worlds can be, serving as the antithesis of more generic open world games that play it safe like, ghosts of tsushima, horizon zero dawn, all assassin creed recent games, and many other big titles that would gladly do that exact same thing, with their own coat of paint... Breath of the Wild and Elden Ring break that mold, and they are truly the ones that do open world... not right, cause i think even those games can improve so much, but far far better, than western games do... That's hardly controversial, but... rather factual... I do have contempt for western open world games, which comes across as arrogant, or mad, but nah... i legit think they're trash, and hope ppl would develop better taste so these publishers don't rile their pockets making the same game for over a decade... In any case, enjoy elden ring, and let the realization of everything i said slowly sync in.

@@mailusphoenix8894 Yeah, Elden Ring is the only open-world game I've enjoyed. Not only might it be the best Fromsoft game, but also one of the best games of all time. Although I don't really judge a game from who made it but whether or not it's good and fun, y'know?
@mailusphoenix8894
@mailusphoenix8894 2 жыл бұрын
@@kastang1444 its a matter of design philosophy... Western games are hindered by their publishers either trying to milk them for the minimum cost, try to have the broadest appeal possible which leads to no risk taking, and a general sense of hand holding through checklists of meaningless repetitive content... So yeah i think the studio and publisher still matter a bit. At least Ghosts of Tsushima isnt monetized to the bone, but a far cry (no pun intended) from a great open world, over a year later of its release, with Elden Ring around XD

I’m wondering if the review was actually watched or if this rant was based on the title alone. The whole subject of my review is that, yes, this game is another open world game in the same vein as Assassins Creed (and I understand if you’re burned out on the formula), but Ghost of Tsushima is much more polished and presented in a much tighter package. So… it’s like those games, but better. That’s pretty much the whole review in a nutshell. Ghost of Tsushima being a good game doesn’t take masterpiece status away from games like Breath of the Wild. It’s not a zero-sum game.
