They were basically a Chekhov's gun - for most of the film, they serve no purpose except being an audience surrogate to uncover the Mechagodzilla conspiracy in a detective-story that has no real impact on the plot. But then during the finale, they're the reason Mechagodzilla doesn't win the final battle - if they hadn't poured that flask on Mechagodzilla's computer to make him short out for a moment, Mechagodzilla would've killed Kong by burrowing its drill-tail through Kong's skull, then Mechagodzilla would've killed Godzilla while he was exhausted, and then there would've been nothing to stop Mechagodzilla becoming an unstoppable threat to the whole world.

They were the reason Kong and Godzilla were able to defeat Mechagodzilla - if they hadn't poured alcohol on the control panel to make MechaG temporarily fizzle, MechaG would've dug his drill-tail into Kong's skull and killed him, then would've killed Godzilla while he was down and become a threat to the whole world.

To be fair Jia’s subplot actually added to the story and had a reason to be there, on the other hand Millie Bobby Brown and the other two’s subplot was nothing but pointless, boring filler, and it prevented the movie from being something like an 8/10 or 9/10.

Though I wish Mecha Godzilla want here and in a different movie. At most I want to see him return as Kiriyu my favorite incarnation of Mecha G

Kong's parents were barely bigger then the big boy skull crawlers (like the one kong fought at the end of the movie) so that made them the same size as juvenile kong when they literally had a child? So they either had kong while being juveniles, or plot made kong WAY bigger then his parents (literally 3 times + 1 meter).

If anything, Godzilla messed up by provoking Kong by blasting into Hollow Earth, which lead to both of them taking way more damage than needed. Even if the hollow earth radiation got to Mecha G before Godzilla, he probably would have won anyways, since he doesn't fight another titan first.
