Forest fans knew something special was just around the corner. In a poll taken at the beginning of the season. Fans of each club were asked how optimistic they felt about their teams prospects for the coming season. Forest topped that table. Us forest fans have known that a change was coming, all the signs were clear to see to those who truly watched. We didn't expect a champions league charge, granted. But we knew that the media was going to be getting a shock. Enjoyed the video, especially the end when most of you continued to doubt us. Like Cloughie said, "I hope anybody's not stupid enough to write us off".

@@AG-mf1rv I said nothing about a miracle. I said it was clear to see what was coming. If you think success is guaranteed by simply spending money. Then I guess you see United at the top of the table? Spending money guarantees nothing. It improves your chances, but guarantees nothing at all.

Last season, if you took Forest's terrible set piece defending out of the equation, they would have been a solid mid-table side. Also, when they managed to get Murillo and Boly on the field together, they were one of the best defensive partnerships in the league. Problem was that Boly could barely stay fit. So if you plug Milenkovic into that, you've gone quite some way to explaining why Forest have drastically improved. Add Woods' form and Sels being outstanding and there you go. That'll be 500 quid please.
@-dizzoj-11 күн бұрын
We only signed Sels at the end of January last season too, and before that dropped a fair few points to goalkeeping howlers. Got to mention as well there was some horrendous luck in terms of decisions going against us last season, and I swear I'm not just saying that. Maybe not quite Wolves level but pretty close.

One thing that wasn't mentioned was the fact that Forest got promoted a season earlier than expected - this was the reason they had so many loan players and players not good enough to play premier football. They had no option but to buy. They managed to stay up by pure guts, determination and commitment kept them in the prem. The forest fans were so optimist this year in that pole as they knew once we managed to consolidate and get the players they needed to compete then they would once again be a force to recon with. I think they are still ahead of schedule but because of the belief, spirit and a great manager with the players playing a style that suits out makeup they have managed to maintain the progression. A quality assessment guys and great to see Yates been picked out. He may not be the most talented but he sure bleeds Red and an example for younger players that its not all about talent - hard work and commitment and using your brain can get to far in life and football!

You should look at Bayern Leverkusen, same as Forest

Forest chasing the mighty Liverpool..just like they did in the Clough years. It's great to see a historic club like Nottingham forest do well after decades in the doldrums. Forest were England's second biggest club (behind Liverpool) until the turn of the century. Nuno, backed by the Eve Marinakis' spending spree, has built a foxy side and revitalised the club. 🦊

@dbz9393 I admire his resolve as his spending spree and ambitions have been mocked until now. Look, I have great love for clough and forest. I’m glad to see them do well. But to say that they were the second biggest club until the turn of the century is just incorrect. First, United were quite clearly bigger than them, especially by the turn of the century. And Forest were relegated at the very beginning of the prem league era (clough’s last season) and another time in the 90s alone.

Not a bad assessment of Forest. The only significant omission would be the fact that in the 5 games in the first half of the season in which we had over 50% possession we were still undefeated. We won 3 and drew 2, so “giving Forest the ball” isn’t really a way to combat us. However, if opponents want to try giving us the ball more I’m sure the team won’t mind! P.s. I think Forest will finish 5th. COYR

Oh my. Not often I hear Villarreal players mentioned. Barry has been frustrating to watch this season. You can tell he has talent but he's not elegant in any way. He tries things but it goes awry as often as it works. His touch needs a lot of work. He sometimes moves like he's mid growth spurt and hasn't figured out how long his legs are. That inconsistency paired with the injuries to others offensive forwards and wingers is why our goals have shriveled up. Doubt we move him but if he stays, he needs to take advantage of this time to fully lock down a starting spot.

Forest's style and success are reminiscent of Leicester in 2016. We all know the Foxes won it that year; could Forest do the same? No: • EVERY other team had a mare to varying degrees - Leicester won it with just 81 points from Arsenal in second on 71 • Vardy in his prime, Mahrez and Kante - 3 truly exceptional players Could Forest be expected to maintain this level of performance year on year? Unlikely: • Look what happened to Leicester when the other teams spent big (again) and got their act together • Wood is having the season of his life but, at 33, this feels like a last hurrah • Forest have only scored 30 goals this season - 13th place • Counter-attacking football that prioritises defense has a higher floor and lower ceiling than other styles imo • Big investment in new players and contracts will be needed, which will come under scrutiny of PSR • If Forest deservedly finish in the European places, the extra games will mean they need to buy, and also rotate, players which could disrupt defensive solidity • A large part of Forest's success so far is down to the manager. Will Espirito Santo stay if a job offer comes in from one of Europe's big(ger) boys? I'm loving Forest doing well this year, even as a Liverpool fan who's watched us make a right sow's ear of both games against them. Genuinely hope they carry on doing well.
