This was one of the first three "expensive" bottles I bought early in my malt journey years ago. At the time it was $120us. As you said it is beautiful but in a safe way so at that time I loved and appreciated it very much. Today I'm not sure if I would as much? Glad I had it back then when it was able to blow my sox off. Yeah, more and more I’m finding that the timing in our whisky journeys when we taste certain expressions plays a huge part in how we receive them.

Hey Wade, when were you in Scotland.? Did you get to Campbeltown? I did the big trip last month, all the way from Melbourne. Trip,of a life time! Had so much great whisky. Good review.Cheers!

I was there for the first half of November and yes most certainly made it to Campbeltown (on two occasions lol). Visited about 15 distilleries!! It's a wonderful place isn't it?! Videos and more travel content coming soon, loads to work through!!

It seems that the earlier expression (green/grey label) of this whisky is the one that is held on a pedestal, both are discontinued now so not much chance of getting either

Yeah, I'm thinking that the previous bottling must have been better than this to initially garner such a reputation. Given the scarcity of both it's unlikely that I'll ever know.

Love a good Longmorn, I have the 18 yr old expression. Great review once again, love the colour on it as well. Unfortunately it’s a touch on the pricy side but sounds like a great daily. You’ve reminded me to get my 18 yr out for another run. Slàinte Mhath 🥃

Hi Wade. Great objective review. I purchased a bottle for my friend when his first child was born. Got it for a good price on some site sale. Anyhoo, I haven’t tried it myself. Wanted to find something a little special. However, upon your review I’m a bit concerned that I should have bought something else. 🤷‍♂️ maybe he will pour me a dram someday. Says it will get opened on son Theo’s first birthday 😂

Yes brother absolutely right on the price / enjoyment ratio. It's a pretty whisky for sure but yes they did play it very safe here. For some reason this is fantastically priced in my market so for that I'll buy it but the prices you mention warrant more oomph. Cheers!

@@McIntyresMalts On some malts yeah but Classic Laddie, Laphroaig and Kilchoman ranges are 2.5 times of Europe! It's a weird market for sure.

its that price now as its discontinued. its a great dram and worth a try for most enthusiasts. but Longmorn's line up with changing now.

Nice review. This one is one of my dad's favourites. But I agree with you, it's a very "safe" whisky, but it's a really good one. But I wouldn't buy it for the price that you mention. At this moment in time it's not avilable here in Sweden, and it hasen't been for the last 18-24 months, but last it was here it had a fixed price of around sek900 ($AUD127) in todays currency. If/when it appears again, and if it's still around that price, I will probably buy a bottle....but not if the price is much higher....there are so many other options out there. Cheersmuch more

Agreed! For the right price this is excellent. I think it was sheer luck that I had found some as it's not really anywhere I can see anymore. I was told that it is discontinued so this would make sense as stocks dwindle.

I love this one. It is pricey at $160 USD, but I cashed in some gift cards and only paid $10 out-of-pocket. I'll consider that a bargain for myself. I believe it is discontinued, so I likely won't find another and if I do, unless I have a stack of gift cards again, I would rather spend that money on something like anCnoc 18. Cheers!
