@Arden Yosafat Stop raving. The Bulls lost in the second Round. They did not claim the title. *By their second season without Michael Jordan the Chicago Bulls had grown from the best team in the league to one of the worst team in the league.* Record: 34-31.

@Arden Yosafat *D Wade defeated Prime Dirk Nowitzki sans Lebron James in the 2006 Nba Finals.* But with Lebron, he lost to Dirk Nowitzki in the 2011 Nba Finals. Lebron Choked. Lebron James joined D Wade, who had already won the title before Lebron James. Check your facts. The 2011 Cavs were a completely different team. Lebron fans are mostly casual.

@Arden Yosafat Check your facts. *The entire starting lineup was gone or injured, along with their coach. It was a total roster overhaul, not just Lebron"s departure, that caused Cleveland to fall apart.* In 2011, the Cavs got a new Coach. Shaquille O"Neal went to Boston. Mo Williams - Missed 46 games. Anderson Varegao - Missed 51 games. Antawn Jamison - Missed 26 games. Anthony Parker - Missed 10 games. Shaq, Ilgauskas and West left the team. It was a completely different team. 1993/94 season: The Bulls added new players and managed to keep Prime Horace Grant in their ranks. *JORDAN never played with Toni Kucoc, Horace Grant, Armstrong, Steve Kerr and Longley all at the same time.* You don"t even know the history of the modern league. And you have the nerve to talk about the Nba of the 90s. You are clearly a casual fan and have no idea what you are talking about you.

@Arden Yosafat MJ didn"t choke like Lebron James, and he didn"t have a super team. MJ was the only star player in his team. He lost to a team that had 5 Hall of Fame players. Lebron with a super team lost to Dirk Nowitzki and old Jason Terry ( age 33 ). *D Wade =26- 7- 5, FG-54%.* MJ didn"t have that luxury. But Lebron James still lost even with that help.

There will never be another 6-0 finals team that never allowed a gm 7. There will never be another 6-time final's mvp whose final's average is 41pts. That's insane!!!! In Jordan's era there was trash talking, hand checking, no defensive 3 secs, no tick tac fouls, true rivalries, & dominant 7 ft centers clogging up the paint. MJ never jumped teams, but still managed to dominate His era like no other contemporary.

They rebuild and then the Smitty, Mookie, Mutombo, Laetner team emerged which was a fantastic team but had no chance in hell against the 68 win Bulls.

@@m.A.A.dGanja420 im explaining. Lack of zone defense is allowing more 1on1 in the past without much interferance from other teams help defense. You can drag good rim protector out of the paint by telling ur big man to stay at 3pt line. If oppsite team bigman dont stay with his man at 3 pt line instead camping around the paint to help is considered an illegal defense . Tech ft rewarded and the ball back to score again. This zone bothered mj. Thats why phil tell hjs players to exploit the rules so jordan can score. I already said pacer is overrated with trash inside rim protection with sloppy flopper center. Knicks were great defensively and were trash offensively. If you study their team you would realize knicks were not even near average offensively to fight the bulls. And knicks gave bulls problems. Sir charles suns defense in the final ? Cant even guard my grandma on a wheelchair. Like ive said fuck leflop but i gjve credit where its due. Look at the cav lebron first brought to finals ? So damn trash. The moment lebron left they cant even go playoffs. He brought cavs over magic howard , celtics big 3 . Piston . The team he faced has balanced of good offense and defense . Note im a fan of boston. If you realize the teams that always destroys lebron are teams that run hybrid zone defense against him. Mj didnt faced this problem since refs destroyed piston by strongly disallowing zoning from bad boy piston. Before pippen ame mj never got past 1st round no matter how much individual success he has. Remember when mj first retired to go swing a bat to honor his father wish? The bulls still made the playoffs with pippen . Losing only 2 games more in regular season Went deep into playoffs , lost due to bullshit calls imo that made bulls lost a close game that they could have won. Bulls are still a playoffs team that went deep in playoffs without mj. And cavs heat ? They cant even made playoffs after he left. While i agree lebrkn playstyle makes his teammates go inconsistent and hes weak minded . I cannot ignore hes better

@@WestbrickFansGotNoBrains The introduction of zone in professional basketball proved that defense had gone downhill and that players couldn't keep up with their man. There are many fans who think zone in pro ball is some BS. As a professional player, you should be able to keep your man in front of you. Zone breeds complacency and laziness. Just move around in your little area and leave the liability to someone else when a player gets past you. Lol name one opponent James had in the East that was even close to as good as NY with Ewing in his prime. The Pacers were incredibly gritty and scrappy. They were also very physical. Jordan also faced and demolished a young and freakishly athletic Shaq, with Hardaway on Orlando. These are just the 90's opponents. A young Michael Jordan in the 80's was facing legendary Boston Celtics squads and the Detroit Pistons Bad Boys. Jordan had the much stiffer competition in the East, hands down.

Those Milwaukee Bucks teams during the 1980s were kinda underrated . Very good teams. They had tough luck having been eliminated by the 76ers and Celtics almost every season that decade in the playoffs. And when they did beat one of those teams in the series prior , they would lose to the other one in the next round or ECFs. It was common . Had they gone on to the NBA Finals , they would have at least won another NBA title against the Lakers or Rockets during the 1980s. Milwaukee had great defensive teams. Moncrief, Cummings, Hodges, Pierce, Pressey, Breuer, Dunleavey, Thompson, Mokeski, Johnson, etc The Celtics, 76ers and Pistons were winning NBA titles during the 1980s. Only the Lakers from the West were winning NBA titles in the 1980s. Only the Rockets challenged them most during that decade and the Denver Nuggets (run and gun team ,like the Lakers but chokd in the playoffs) The Bucks were already a powerhouse going back to the 1970s, even won an NBA title in 1971 as an expansion team (only their 3rd year in existence). But they stayed very good into the 1980s with a new crop of players, by the early 1990s tho they got old and were rebuilding most of that decade. Until the late '90s - early '00s, their return to the playoffs. But, the 1980 realignment when the Dallas Mavs were an expansion team. The Bucks, Pistons and Bulls moved to the East. While the Spurs and Rockets moved to the West with the new expansion team Dallas. Which made geographical sense. But, that kinda hurt the Bucks as they constantly ran into the Celtics, 76ers in the playoffs that entire decade. While the Lakers had very little competition in the West. The Rockets and Nuggets in some years, but they were normally underperformers in the playoffs. Rockets did get to the NBA Finals in a couple of seasons in the '80s, but were beaten against the Celtics both times. The Jazz, Suns, Trailbalzers were too young during the mid-late '80s and not ready. Seattle SuperSonics, Golden State , good teams during the '70s, were mostly rebuilding during the '80s, stunk most seasons. The Mavs were too new a franchise and stunk most years. Clippers and Kings were mainly bad that decade, minus a few good years for the Kansas City/Sacramento Kings. The San Antonio Spurs were not ready and usually faded during the playoffs. After Gilmore was traded to the Bulls and Iceman Gervin retired, the Spurs sunk to a lottery team . From the mid - late '80s Spurs had losings seasons, missed the playoffs. Made the playoffs one year under .500, but got swept as expected by the Lakers. 6 losing seasons in a row for the Spurs (worst period in Spurs history) almost forced relocation or at least talks of it, attendance was down, they are in a smaller market. Possible was to be to Either to Orlando or Charlotte, but those teams ended up getting expansion teams. But, the Spurs resurgence under newcomer lottery pick David Robinson and Sean Elliot. During the '90s helped saved their franchise in some ways. They were always in the playoffs during the '90s (but kept choking again usually against the Rockets, Suns, Jazz) except for the '97 season when Robinson and Elliot were hurt majority of the season, they hit the lottery again with Duncan and finally got over the hump in '99 winning their first NBA title. Point is, the Lakers had little resistance in the West during the '80s. Mainly the choking Nuggets or Rockets (who choked often as well). Milwaukee was realigned to the East where the stronger teams were during the '80s (Celtics, Hawks, 76ers, Pistons, Cavs). The shift to the West being the better conference happened around the early 2000s, when MJ retired coincentinly. It has been that way ever since. Although it may shift back to the East soon.

The East in Jordan's era was freakin loaded. Actually the whole NBA was loaded. Both the East and West each had like 4-5 Championship caliber teams (obviously with MJ around none of them won it all). Look at the 96 Bulls Playoff bracket (72-10 Bulls). They played Zo and Hardaway Miami Heat Rd 1. They were 42-40 only because they didn't acquire Hardaway until trade deadline. With Hardaway they were at the rating of a 60+ win team. ECSF they played 47-35 Knicks with legend Ewing and a gritty hard nose experienced team that made 94 Finals. Don Nelson's stupid "all offense no Defense" ball screwed them up. Van Gundy took over as coach in March and under Van Gundy they too played at a 60+ win rating. ECF played Shaq and Penny 60-22 Orlando Magic. NBA Finals played a 64-18 Sonics team that had Prime Kemp, Prime GP, Detlef Schrempf, Big Smooth, and a great defensive team. Same Sonics who beat Hakeem Rockets in a sweep and the Malone and Stockton Utah Jazz. 1995-96 Chicago Bulls go 72-10 then 15-3 in the playoffs playing basically all 60+ win teams in the Playoffs. That will never happen again. #LEGENDARY. #199596CHICAGOBULLSGREATESTTEAMEVER4EVER

The opposite is true. The 90's were one of the most talent diluted eras in all of basketball. Six teams were added in a six year span from 89 to 94 which created a league wide talent drain. It was an incredibly weak era for basketball.

@@jayzee7538 HA HA HA A blog from a random fan...nice. I like how he argues against himself. He points out that KJ missed 33 games in 93 and the Suns STILL won 62...that's how bad the league was... The dearth of talent in the 90's was pretty bad. Nearly 25% of the league wouldn't have had roster spots in any other decade. That's the byproduct of rapid expansion.
@AsavageEP
@AsavageEP 4 жыл бұрын
@Harry Engel The present. The talent league wide right now is at an all time high. It exceeds the era ten years ago which was the best, surpassing the era a few years before that. Like with every other sport, the NBA talent level improves moving forward, etc. NFLE players are infinitely better than their counterparts back in the 70's and MLB players today would dominate Babe Ruth and his era. I think there is one exception though: I think the talent level in the NBA in the 80's was higher than in the 90's and this is only because the 90's were a BIZARRE period for the league. 1. The "Too much/Too soon" era of the 1980/early 90's decimated a ton of young players in the NBA. Players like Len Bias. Roy Tarpley, Chris Washburm Derrick Coleman, Kenny Anderson, Danny Manning, et al.were all washed out for a variety of reasons. It really is a bizarre period of bad choices, terrible work ethic, and rotten luck. 2. This was only heightened by rapid expansion which thinned out thinned out the talent pool horrifically. Growing the league by 25% over 6 years is kinda crazy. So you have a bunch of young guys failing to rise and now nearly 100 more roster spots to fill. 3. The league was at a strategic malaise, likely due to the talent drain. The 1980's REALLY put the NBA into the cultural zeitgeist. Bird and Magic blew up the sport in an unexpected way. but the game itself had remain relatively unchanged for decades with only the talent level improving decade by decade. The 1980's saw the introduction of the three point line. It was essentially an ABA novelty and under utilized if not completely ignored.But basketball was still awesome and beautiful to watch because the players were better than they's ever been before. By the 90...yeah... the sport was awful. There were some fun players and great rivalries. but the quality of play was killed by a drained talent pool and more importantly: THE LAUGUE WIDE IDIOCY THAT STILL HADN'T EMBRACED THE 3 POINT LINE. This made tactical basketball of the 90's essentially iso heavy sequences. Essentially most offensive possessions devolved into 3 guys filling the court on one side ... You no what...ha ha ha. I'm digressing. The tactical stupidity of the 90's isn't actually talent related. Anyways. I think the 90's were actually worse than the 80's due to the loss of badasses like Magic, Bird, etc. and the failure of essentially Jordan's generation to fulfill their promise. Seriously though. The 1986-91 drafts are...interesting. Anyway by the early 2000's the talent pool had caught up to league wide demand and the influx of international players was starting to impact the league as well. Still not embracing the 3 completely yet, but at least strides were being made...

Can we all just face the fact that Jordan played in the toughest ERA in the League where by a quote, unquote Hard Foul in the 80's & 90's is consider as a Fragrant 2 in the LeBron ERA. So a team can send relatively 3-5 bench warmers out there every game to throw body slam at Micheal Jordan and not get suspended at all. But no one can touch LeBron. He will never survive the Jordan ERA. In fact none of the annual top 10 stars since 2010's could. Oh less not forget injuries. You are expected to play through them in the 80's & 90's. No one want to hear some $150,000 pay cheque player sitting for a toe injury. Now, we have so call All-Stars earning 40+ $$$millions$$$ sitting with a tow injury. Go figure.

The 1980’s and 1990’s were a much tougher era. Defense was better and teams were better. The 1990’s had the most teams that won 50 or 60 games in NBA history for a decade. Despite that, Jordan’s Bulls defeated seven 60+ win teams (a record for a dynasty team in a decade) and 20 teams that had between 50-59 wins. 27 of the 37 playoff opponents Jordan faced had over 50 wins, while 18 of LeBron’s opponents (out of 37) had under 50 wins. Imagine what Jordan’s numbers would be if he faced LeBron’s competition. Jordan was guarded by Defensive Player of Year players in the playoffs several times - Sidney Moncrief, Alvin Robertson, Dennis Rodman and Gary Payton. (Rodman four times)

I don't get why people would compare MJ and LBJ, they are just two totally different players playing in two different eras. It is not even the same sport anymore, defense is non-existent nowadays, offense is barely one screen and off you go dunk it or shoot a 3 pointer (since no one cares to defend on you anyway). Lebron James is undoubtedly an exceptional athlete but you can't compare him to MJ and his impact. The guy just reinvented and reinvigorated the game all by himself (and NBA marketing). Just look at the two of them moving on the court. Grace and brute force/beauty and the beast. There is just no comparison. Jordan was a worldwide phenomenon and made the NBA a worldwide phenomenon. Nobody knows Lebron James outside of the US if you're not slightly interested in sports. Hard to tell which competion was harder. But MJ's career story is soooo much better. He is the epitomy of the American hero. Lebron? Just a mercenary. Changing team every three years to see where the grass is greener. Always will be second class.

A point no one raises is that later in Jordan's career there were many expansion teams. The Jazz won 60+ games in the late 90s while the team in the early 90s was much better. Keep that in your mind when you just spew out the number of 60 win teams they won.

Talent was also diluted, that's why you barely here about a superteam in that era. This era is so talented it makes defense look poor. If you don't have at least two superstars, you won't dominate. Great video Andy. I just want to add one more important thing. When MJ came back to the league in the 94-95 season, the Bulls were actually 31-34. Soooooo MJ came back with just 17 games left in the regular season. Oh by the way, He helped them go 13-4 in that stretch...helping them get to the playoffs. Imagine that...hadn’t played all year...poor conditioning...playing in a tough Eastern Conference...smdh AMAZING. Oh yeah...Pippen and Horace Grant joined the team in 87...there’s a false narrative out there that these guys had an instant impact in the Bulls’ success. That’s not true, however they were able to finally defeat the Pistons in that 90’ season. And Noooo the Pistons were not OLD. They were just trying to 3peat (which is a difficult task).

Fact is Jordan won Titles in the Eastern conference. When he went to play basketball, the west won both of those titles one by a sweep. No other Eastern conference team won a title in the 90's. 6 for the Bulls 2 Lakers 2 Houston. Fact is the East has been weak for a long time. The reason is the NBA has rigged the East to be bad unintentionally. There are teams in the Eastern conference that I've had losing records that make the playoffs. And then there are teams that have won 50 games in the Western conference and not made the playoffs. But those teams got lottery picks making them better and a stronger conference. fact is if the NBA wants to put out a better product they would in the east and west and just play all the teams against each other and the best 16 teams get to the playoffs it would create a better product across the board because teams that did not make the playoffs do to a losing record would get lottery players and not teams won 50 games

" Joe Smith The East was the stronger overall conference in the 1990s. Very good teams like the Knicks, Pacers, Cavs, Hornets, Hawks, Magic, couldnt get over the hump. MJ/Bulls were normally in their way. During that decade. The Heat were coming around, too during the latter part of the '90s. Occasionally the Nets & Wizards/Bullets during that decade too. The great teams of the 1980s in the East had gotten old and started to rebuild by the '90s (Bucks, 76ers, Celtics, Pistons). These teams used to ruff up the Bulls/MJ during the '80s in the playoffs, too Many teams in the East in the '90s were left out of the playoffs with winning seasons (Cavs, Wizards, Hornets) , while teams in the West with losings seasons like the Clippers, TWolves, Kings, Lakers, Suns) were getting in the playoffs during that decade. But, by the late '90s -mid '00s Those Western teams were maturing (Kings, Lakers, TWolves) were very good, multiple winning seasons, playoffs, elite. Since the 2000s, its been the other way around (West teams with winning seasons missing the playoffs while the East teams with losing seasons are in the playoffs), also the stronger overall conference since 2000 has been the West. '00s and '10s. It was like right after MJ retired, the whole entire East just became crappy overall for the years. Pretty odd. MJ/Bulls had to beat some very good, tuff teams. The '80s you can argue that the East was tuffer as well (Celtics, 76ers, Hawks, Bucks, Pistons, Bulls (Same as the Cavs) later in teh decade, 76ers). While the West was very top heavy (Lakers.......and the Rockets..... Nuggets, Jazz, Suns, Blazers were playoff chokers, same for the Spurs (when they made the playoffs, but they had multiple losing seasons, no playoffs.... pretty much their lone dark period mid - late '80s....post Iceman & Gilmore yrs) It was pretty much either teh Lakers or Rockets in teh '80s for the West. This is a very good video. So many memories, too!" Agreed.

The Jordan era had a few tragedies in it. The deaths of len bias a huge college Jordan rival. (Think young lebron with a outside shot). The death of Reggie Lewis a player that held Jordan avg down below avg when they played. And avg 20 pts. Petrovic who scored 50 against Jordan. All these deaths had a huge impact on the era. The Celtics would be were a shell of themselves in the 90's. Penny Hardaway injury just 2 rys after putting the bulls out of the playoffs. Early Jordan he just ran into great teams he couldn't beat . Late Jordan a few weaker teams. Made a difference. Never would he play a team as strong again as 80's Celtics or a team with 3 or more allstars like 2000's spurs or warriors.

I fucking hate it when people say Jordan needed help to get to the Finals and win. Yeah no shit. Basketball is a team game. Literally every great player had a good supporting cast. It doesn't make them any less great. Jordan had Pippen and Rodman. Magic had Kareem and James Worthy. Bird had McHale and Robert Parish. Shaq had Kobe and Kobe had Shaq. KG had Allen and Pierce. Duncan had Parker and Ginobili. Malone had Stockton. LeBron had Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh... And Allen... And then Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love. You get my point. And any player who ever made it to the Finals with no supporting cast (I'm looking at you LeBron) only did so due to the fact that they played against absolute garbage teams to get there. The teams that James played in 2007 barely cracked 50 wins. It was sad how pathetically bad the Eastern Conference was at that time. In Jordan's case though he didn't just get bounced early in his career by some dogshit no name teams. He was beaten twice by Larry Bird's Boston Celtics and three times by the Bad Boy Pistons. Two of arguably the greatest teams of all time.
