idea: put a bunch of emotions in a hat (eg; angry, sad, happy, scared, embarrassed). Draw the sketch/outline. and THEN pick an emotion. So the emotion comes from the colouring or added extras. I think it would be a good test and use of colour theory

Most people don't realize that beauty can be found in darkness sometimes. The true beauty of this piece is that you poured much of your true self into it, I think. I see it as a kind of tribute to the person you lost and imagine it has more meaning for you than some of your other art. That's not to say that you don't put yourself into your other art or that your other art is lacking meaning. I'm just saying I feel this one is maybe a bit more meaningful than others.

A tip for the people who have to swatch their colours every time they use:- Cut out 1cm×1cm boxes (small basically) from your sketchbook paper (or the paper you use usually) and make swatches on those cut out boxes. And then tape them to the barrel of your marker... You'll never need anymore swatching! I personally use water based markers. So I've taped the swatch of the marker and the swatch of water mixed version of it. It helps with taking out the desired colour with having to test them all

I have to admit, this is one of my favourite challenges. Having every all of one colour from your own art supplies kind of forces the mind into creativity. Like the impression that colour gives you, wheather that's sad, happy or angry. You are able to make that colour coresponded with the "vibe" that colour gives YOU. It also forces you too add more detail, where you thought it didn't need more detail. That is if you're fully committed to the challenge ofc.

I did something similar decades ago. I was in the back of a dark tunnel in the fetal position like yours. Instead of clouds, I had hands... one was pointing at me, one was running another finger over the pointer (shame shame), one was holding up the middle finger at me, one was in a fist, and one was palm up in the 'stop, don't come near me' pose. I always love hanging out with you on here. You have inspired me and my own art has improved, even tho I don't take the time to do it often. Love you.

😂 “Nothing else metals” is a reference to a Metallica song, “Nothing Else Maters.” I wonder if all the colors in that line are song references?
@Littlewings12113 жыл бұрын
That one actually came in a Scrawlrbox and there was another one or two with it. I remember being amused by the names and as a Metallica fan this one stuck in my head but I can't remember what the others were. I will see if I can find them in my mountain of Scrawlrbox supplies and let you know! 😊
@Littlewings12113 жыл бұрын
'Heart of Gold' was the other one (Scrawlrbox website for the win! Didn't even need to get out of bed haha!) After looking up the packet on Amazon I saw the pink one was called 'Berry Nice' so I don't think they were song titles.
@khills3 жыл бұрын
@@Littlewings1211 other shades included copper cabana, ice ice baby blue, and wanderlust, so I’m guessing wanderlust and berry nice are song references we just don’t get. 😉

@taytaythehufflepuff85323 жыл бұрын
Here on behalf of your similar questions to many people. It won’t take people telling you your art is great. The praise will feel good for a little while, making you motivated to create all the art in the world (art being a general term as I’ve felt this in both writing and drawing). Eventually you’ll bump into burnout. But burnout doesn’t mean you should quit. Break are good, and if you’ve created a lot nonstop, then taking one might be a good thing (usually when I put down one hobby, I’ll pick up another-at the moment, I’m writing a lot more than drawing, but the last few months, I drew more than wrote). But don’t just give up. If you really love creating art, you should keep trying to do it (plenty of videos all over the internet about getting motivation to draw/wanting to do so again). Even if it’s hard, you should still work at it if it’s something you love. If you’re in that “grey/gray, just existing” stage/mindset, then you should probably focus on your mental and physical health before obsessing over your art.

“You’d be hard pressed to find someone who’s favorite color is grey” my favorite color is indeed grey lol. Grey is the ultimate form of beauty in simplicity and I really think it’s one of the most versatile colors out there and i think it’s amazing how much depth can come from it despite it only being one color, the way shades of grey contrast each other and blend together is awesome. Grey is also just a calming color as well. It feels still and serene.

I’m only 3 mins into the video but I would love to see a final draft grayscale of the “flower/plant” thumbnail! Plants and flowers are almost always represented as colorful so it would be awesome seeing them completely grey. It would also fit the narrative that when you’re feeling grey it’s hard to see the color in life around you.
