@@verakoo6187 and beyond that, inflation adjusted, the games are still cheaper than before since they kept hard on $60 for so long, despite growing and growing cost of development. Unfortunately, the problem is is that huge games require huge up front investment with zero payoff until release, to which hopefully translates to people buying (which even GOOD games flop). So to an investor willing to dump money into development time, they expect a decent return on investment for how much risk of losing that money is to them. Early Access sales have been at least helpful to indie devs which can at least have part of their development time funded by players, but still it's the fight between paying for a game before it's done with multiple years of dev time that could be extended even longer or eventually run out of money, or paying after it's done and paying whomever that investor was a huge return because of how long their money was locked up.

@AverageEveryDayLayman if you pay for something but don't own it... then pirating isn't stealing cause both ways you don't own it and are just "borrowing it" till you're done. 😎 sounds like stealing if they sell you a product and can change it, delete; or remove your ability to use said product after you already paid. You should research what ubisoft is doing. They can sell you a disc (a physical product) for an offline game and, through a long explanation you should research, remove your ability to play it by making you connect to the internet to download/update an offline game with a disc. So for a game that doesnt require internet, they make you connect to internet, and have the ability to render a disc game you bought useless at anytime they want cause you dont own the product. Think about that for a second. (Why would ubisoft do that you ask? Cause the vast majority of gamers are playing old games and they need a way to ensure new gamers get hooked on their live service games, spend money, and stop playing something they can't monotize anymore. So just like apple did with iphones, they manipulate your old, perfectly fine product, to nudge you into their new one.) Ubisoft spends more time and resources manipulating the consumer to buy their games, then they do manipulating their games to make them worth buying. I don’t even mind paying $60 when you get the entire game. That’s what made Star Wars Battlefront II in 2017 such a strange case for EA, because if you bought that game, you actually owned all of it. And let’s not forget that older game consoles like the PS1 capped their game prices at $40 to be more appealing to consumers. AAA game companies are an absolute joke nowadays and there’s almost no reason whatsoever to buy anything from them.

And the company can't shut them down or prevent you from accessing it. And with web3, you own the game files forever after purchase. @@Nerazmus Honestly, that is the unavoidable part of RPG games since the dawn of PC gaming. RPG games offer the most branching and options by default, and they have exponentially more things to go wrong compared to any other genre of games. Which is why, when you take ANY year since, let us say 1990, to 2024, the buggiest games by pretty large margin were always RPGs. I am not saying that it is a good thing and that you should accept it, but it is good to understand why that is the case. It is not as big of a problem depending on how the company takes that info - Larian started fixing it immediately. As did CDPR. But Bethesda, Ubisoft and some others - they are going at a snail's pace. Then you can be mad all you want and you have every right to be so. But now then devs of RPGs drop a game that is rough around the edges. VtM:Bloodlines is a cult classic... yet it took YEARS to patch and people were releasing fixes long after the game developers went bust. How long did it take to fix Pathfinder? Still amazing game and I would not bat an eye. Rouge Trader? Game breaking bug near the final chapters. Still, amazing game. RPG games are like that and RPG players understand and have patience.

@crazymelon02 the only reason I haven't bought bg3 yet is because it's 60 on pc but for whatever reason 70 on console. it probably is worth 70 but I can't justify getting price gouged because of my preferred platform. don't know who's decision it was so it may not be devs fault, but upcharging with no extra benefits for the same game doesn't leave a good taste in my mouth.
@BaneSIlvermoon7 ай бұрын
@Krystalocke If you're talking about BG3, that's kind of a weird point to bring up since the game was two months away from being in Early Access for 3 years. Of course it was a finished game on the "release date". It had been for sale, being played, and getting patches since October 2020. Game was 3 years old at what people consider it's release date. It came out six weeks after Ghosts of Tsushima. It's weird how games get shit on for early access, but then something like BG3 comes along and it's just entirely ignored that it even existed during that period.
@james_427 ай бұрын
@BaneSIlvermoon and it's hilarious because BG3 is genuinely the buggiest AAA I've played in about a decade aside from maybe Cyberpunk. Ubisoft games aren't any kind of gold standard for bugs, but they're far better on launch than even BG3 is nowadays.
