Sometimes wind is much better than dead calm. In Georgia we have some light wind in the winter time but usually summers - with 70+ dew point and 90+ temperature - are dead calm. You can feel yourself slowing cooking. A wind would be soo much relief. Wind is your friend.

I know...I lived in the Cheyenne area for over 21 years. The winds were a challenge but pros. I have now lived in MS for over 17 years. I would move back to WY like yesterday if the the wife would agree....I hate the heat, humidity and social issues and you can not see a dam thing due to all of the weeds and trees. Prices for homes in Wyoming have sky rocketed. At 70 years old moving back to WY would be a challenge but I would still rather be there then here. I revisited Cheyenne last Sept (2021) If it were only me I would have been back like yesterday. I do dislike the icy roads, ground blizzards but so much miss the fresh air and being able to see for 50 miles if not more.

I was asked how windy it was in Wyoming. I tell folks that kids in that state fly kites with logging chains. Skinny people put large rocks in their pockets to keep from getting blown away. One day the wind stopped blowing in Wyoming, and everybody fell over. Just kidding.....I lived in Saratoga as a kid in the 1960s, and it was the best time of my childhood. I miss that little town.....

I think about moving to Wyoming and wondered if the winds would knock me over. I'm on the small side and sometimes have to be careful in IL when there are strong winds. The wind just pushes me along. Once when I was on a bike the wind nearly knocked me over sideways. It can be dangerous for sure.

I'm from the Mississippi Gulf Coast and I can tell y'all about high winds being in many hurricanes. Hurricane Camille had winds sustained at 175 MPH. Yes, my house was destroyed. We rebuilt, and then Hurricane Katrina destroyed our house once again. I said the heck with that and moved to Colorado Springs. No hurricanes here. lol. My wife and I are really looking hard at Casper. I mean we are doing our due diligence right now. I hope T-Mobile Cell Service is good in Casper. Great video.

I attended Casper College in 1973-'74 and loved the city but the wind was definitely intense some days. What I remember is that it was calm for the first 2.5 months I was there, but then the wind started to blow on November 1st. Once started, it blew steadily for 6 months, then, as if God turned off the wind switch, it quit blowing on May 1st, and everything was calm again until school ended and I left for the summer.

Hey Alisha, first, thank you for sharing. I am by myself now and looking for a new start, so Wyoming is on my top two places to move too. What about homes with real wood fireplaces? What is the availability of heating wood and the cost of a cord of hardwood? I have seen a few of your videos on Single Room homes and that is what I would be interested in, but I do not see any with real fireplaces. Are there local ordinances that prohibit them in towns?

I live right outside of the windy city of Chicago and we do get strong winds here. Storms sometimes uproot trees, break large branches, knock over wooden fences. Probably not a whole lot different than parts of Wyoming.
@alishacollinsrealestate
@alishacollinsrealestate Жыл бұрын
That's true, our trees usually stay put but the wind will take down fences, blow semi's over, destroy signs and rearrange your patio for you. What really causes problems is when the wind causes huge snow drifts.
@annabelleb.8096
@annabelleb.8096 Жыл бұрын
@@alishacollinsrealestate Your trees probably have stronger roots than IL trees from more regular strong winds. Really after a bad storm lots of trees and branches are down here and going to the woods afterwards can be pretty interesting. Sometimes people in Chicago are hurt or killed by falling trees. One tragic accident happened on a bike path when a couple were riding before a storm and a tree fell on the woman. Her partner was unable to lift the tree and she died.

Alisha, ... I was thinking that if I moved to Casper, I would put up a bunch of wind generates (not the huge commercial type, ... but in a more rural area, that it wouldn't bug any neighbors), ... perhaps enough to power the majority of my electrical power needs, etc.

Me thinks she is responsible for the slight breeze. In that part of Wyoming the wind force is measured by how far off center a vertical hanging 1”chain, 6’ long will be moved. It’s a breeze up to 45*, after that it’s wind.

One of my biggest concerns. Wind...I was stationed in Oklahoma and in North TX, and the winds there are bad. Winds and tornadoes, so roofs go flying. Since Im into cars, and all that, I want to protect them, so my question is this. Are there special codes for building roofed structures like garages and warehouses and whatnot? My ideal property is something with a big steel garage (think big enough to fit tractor trailers and buses, since I have a few of those in my collection...). Are the buildings built stronger? I know that my ideal for a house is more odd, since the "house" part can be the office of an out of business machine shop or factory lol, as long as it has the lifts, the pit, room for tool boxes and all lol. Thanks, and I did subscribe.
