I did it once in Pokemon Yellow. It's actually easy. The only thing that poses a real challenge is getting all the invisible items in the game. But that's achievable by using Bulbapedia as a guide; it gives you the exact location of every single hidden item in every single town, route and building; it renders the itemfinder unnecessary. That's how I did it.
@silentprotagonist3786 Жыл бұрын
Bulbapedia (or any similar good wiki) is goated, you can start collecting hidden items even before you get Itemfinder (it sucks anyway) just by following Bulbapedia item list for each location

Suggestion: record every single Pokémon in the Hall of Fame as fast as you can. As in across all of your League victories, you have to have used every Pokémon at least once. Addtional challenge: you can't use the same Pokémon species in more than one run, so you can't just get a broken lvl 100 Pokémon and use it to carry 5 Pokémon at a time.
@ChuVsMe2 жыл бұрын
I love this!
@nosfrattirek56902 жыл бұрын
That was pretty entertaining. I'm not sure if it'd really be possible to do that with other gens, since most of them require stuff like real life events and transferred mons from older gens. Maybe for gen 2, but given the day/night cycle there's always new items to get and trainers to rematch and I'm not sure it'd feel like truly having 100%'d it without doing stupid stuff like getting 99 of each berry or something. And you'd need to replay through RBY anyway for stuff like the fossils and legendaries that aren't in GSC. When I saw the title, I was kinda hoping that you would include having all 151 Pokémon at level 100... I don't know if anyone ever actually did this, I tried it a few years ago and it's an absolutely miserable, soul-crushing experience. When you beat the elite four with your level 80 Weedle and just mash A and don't pay attention, and now you have a Kakuna and the game auto-saved... and you realize you're ALSO gonna have to do that with Kakuna on top of starting over for Weedle... seriously, don't try it.
@zacksmith93053 ай бұрын
Gen1 also had events as well. Mew was released in Japan only in various events. Then in Gen 2 Celebi was released in Japan only and only if you had a cell phone/GBC connector, and it was only supported for a period before Game Freak discontinued it. also Gen1 and gen 2 link up to pokemon stadium 1 and 2 respectively and if you want to 100% gen2...well you can't, because the random number generator in Stadium 2 doesn't go high enough to get every item 😅 the irony of "Gotta Catch'um all" being the slogan of a series where virtually nobody has ever been able to catch them all without glitches

I did something similar with Pokemon Yellow where I made a complete living Dex, while also battling all the trainers. I'm now almost done with a complete living Dex in Crystal When I completed Yellow I thought I'd finished it for good, but it turns out a complete living Dex in Crystal also requires another complete run of Pokemon Yellow as well as a Complete run of Pokemon Gold, lol. Those are done and were surprisingly fun, so now I just need to finish up. My goal is a complete living national Dex from every generation since I already have a complete living Dex of all the current Pokemon. I've finished gens 4, 5, 6, and 7 in the past, so I'm nearly there. It's cool that you made a video actually documenting it and I'm sure editing it together took a lot of work. Thanks for putting this together!
@Peelster12 жыл бұрын
Wait, you have a living dex in all the generations except 3 2 and 1? Wow. That's impressive. Also, I'm guessing you mean a living regional dex. Or do you currently have 3577 Pokemon over gen 4 - gen 7? Why does Crystal's living dex need another full playthrough of Yellow? I could understand another partial playthrough for Crobat, Espeon, Umbreon, Steelix, Scizor, Kingdra, and Blissey. for the Eeveelutions you'd have to do it twice, but it wouldn't have to be specifically Yellow and for Blissey you only go all the way through the game if you're getting Chansey in Unknown Dungeon instead of the Safari Zone and it still wouldn't have to be specifically Yellow.

Thank you so much for the video. I plan to be doing this with the physical copies, and my choice for the 100% was Pokemon Red due to it being the childhood favorite. I'm also going to be link trading lots of starters/other exclusives from Pokémon Blue in the beginning so I can not only complete the Pokedex, but possess each evolution in chronological order in my storage box. That means I gotta account for everything early 😂 like determine how many times I am gonna restart the opposite game just to fill in the gaps. This is just a little thing on the side that I'm doing, so I'm not in a hurry to complete this, but your video is giving me lots of insight as to what is considered complete, so i appreciate the info! Cheers! 😂

If you think about it being easier to complete it back then because of trading being a lot easier to access, youd actually be incredibly wrong. There was no google, no pokemon db or bulbapedia. People had no idea of what pokemon were out there, or where to find them. It would be 10x harder.

In order to 100% complete pokemon red you also need to max the stats of all pokemons (I think it's named effort value), get them all to level 100, get as close to 99 as possible of each items, get the hidden nugget out of bounds in the safari entrance! Then there is the challenge of the perfect game file which involves having all the best IVs. But most of all that is impossible because you would die of old age (or of boredom probably)
