Andy, tip from a retired diamond drilling and saw man. Fix a sacrificial wooden batten, on the intended saw cut line. Gives a straighter edge and saves losing your cut line. Alternatively use indelible marker or spray paint. Lastly turn the water right down so that it forms a slurry paste. It saves flooding the floor and still maintains the dust suppression. Watch the HAV’s with the breaker use. Great job and take care.

Great tip! I was way too disorganised for these cuts but worst case I could follow the perps but you're 100% correct about the batten - thank you! 👍👍

There's a lot of brick collectors up here in the north east Andy, spotted a nice Seghill brick there, there's a brick swap in Blaydon every year, people come from all over the country, north east bricks are very sought after...

I think that's where I got my reclaimed bricks from! 👍

Fascinating, I had no idea that 'brick swaps' existed. Logical now that I think about it...

The GoPro flicker is because you have it set to 60hz and we have 50hz power in the UK. Set it to 50hz, no more flicker.
@GosforthHandyman2 күн бұрын
It's a time lapse on 1s shots at 25fps. Sometimes it flickers, sometimes it doesn't. 🤷♂️

Nice one Andy but rookie error not taking a Barrow 😬🤦🏻. We gave up on GoPro back at no 10. They are garbage 🗑️ . Ours switches off with low battery 🪫 at 60% ! The DJI osmo action camera is brilliant we have the 3, the 4 is out now . On the 4 if you have the DJI mics they connect using Bluetooth doing away with an annoying receiver sticking out of the side of the camera 📷 🧱👍🏽
@GosforthHandyman2 күн бұрын
Ha cheers Steve! Wish I still had my truck... but eventually man-handled the barrow in to the back of our Fiesta 😂. I had a GoPro 5 and it was really terrible - I swore I'd never buy another one. Then I bought a 10 since I heard it was better for time lapses... but it's still terrible 😭. Same problem with battery life - especially during a time lapse. What's the point of a time lapse if the battery goes flat in 15 mins? 😂 Rant over. I've heard lots of good things about the DJI! May have to take the plunge. 👍

Great update mate. Please post more progress on the public channel pleeeeease! Oh, and add milk to coffee first, not boiling water. You won’t burn the coffee so much then 😉

Hi Andy. Always amazing how much rubble is produced by removing a relatively small amount of wall , and interesting how someone at some point went to a lot of effort not to do what you have . But over the years when I was working , I’d come across things which would have you scratching your head in disbelief . But in the end it tends to come down to money , and if that’s in short supply I suppose we shouldn’t be too hard on those who went before . 😊 Kind regards as always 👍

Genuine question…what DO you do with all those bricks? Just fill a skip, boot of the car to the dump or are they usable elsewhere?
@GosforthHandyman3 күн бұрын
I managed to salvage about 20 whole bricks from all that. The rest were used as hardcore / back fill for other projects.

Milk first then coffee! If you pour boiling water directly in to coffee granules it will burn the coffee and impair the flavour. As opposed to tea where water then milk is the right way 👌 otherwise great work!

You mentioned a stud wall. Shame you can't take the rest of the wall out between the kitchen and old bathroom and have a nice open plan kitchen/dinner.
@GosforthHandyman3 күн бұрын
We debated this but a 3rd bedroom is probably more useful and one day the kitchen could always be extended out the back if needs be. It's only a tiny house though so doesn't really need a huge kitchen. 👍

I'd remove all the plaster instead of just over boarding it. The wall we had to rebuild on the edges had 3 one side and 2 the other. If I'd taken it back to brick I might have gained a couple of square feet.
