I decided to look at how trucking and the rate per mile/load rates have changed year over year for one of our trucks. I was pretty surprised at what I found, but you tell me your thoughts. Here, I will share what one truck in our company brought in: gross income, expenses, net income and rate per mile.

13615 miles in April of 2024?!?!?! Can you offer an insights into how this is possible? And you are mostly I-5, correct? Amazing. AND then you are still getting $2.65 per loaded mile, and that with the crap SPOT MARKET FREIGHT RATES?!?! Thirdly, while your stratospheric $23K for April of 2023 is the BEST I HAVE EVER HEARD OF, your bottom line of $14234 for this April just passed puts your income at about double what i have, going all out in the SAME LANES, and i am getting CONTRACT FREIGHT!! You speak about survival? These numbers make your partner by far the most successful trucker in this market that i have heard of.

Well done, as usual Miranda. Off topic of this video but in my railing against the over capacity and invasion of our country in trucking and in general I experienced something a couple days ago proving my point. I’m playing steering wheel holder as I coast towards retirement pulling a company dry van. I was to drop Sunday at a major food manufacturer. Upon arrival the guard handed me a sheet of paper with the QR code smart phone access in 4 languages: English, Spanish, Russian and Arabic. 🤮enough said!

Very misguided and racist comment. The invasion and looting for america happened immediately after ww2. Your own politicians arent even loyal to “your” country. You are a number on a spreadsheet, filling the vital economic metric of labor. When our ruling class requires more labor, they open our borders for cheaper labor, further squeezing blue collar americans. We send billions of dollars in aid to zionist controlled israel and Ukraine, while you work 45 years to collect a $500/month social security check. Wake the fuck up, our politicians are all bought and paid for. We have been divided and conquered by the ruling class for a reason, they want you focused on stupid crap.

This is slightly discouraging to see. I just bought a truck Sunday, I’m starting the paperwork for my own authority and I’m surprised how little the profit was. I paid cash for the truck so I will have insurance and other expenses but no expensive truck payment. It really seems like I’ll have to sharpen my pencil to make this work. Love the truck though. Drove it from southern Oregon up I-5 to Spokane. Cat C12 with a 10 speed.

I disagree with the doing you're own taxes. If you find the right CPA, that person will save you more money than what it costs to hire them. Not to mention their fees are written off as professional and legal fees. I pay about $1100 for consultations and filing taxes. Me personally, I focus on building relationships with clients and brokers and let my tax guy worry about the taxes. Same with my compliance team, let them take care of it and make sure I am compliant so I can get contracts. FIVE months in to my authority, and I have a contract lined up with a media company that is going to pay me layover time whenever I am not hooked up to one of their trailers and far better than market rates. The dream is still real. As you said Miranda, have some skin in the game. The whole driver not wanting to do something like go to certain parts of the country or tarp every day 🙄 respectfully offer that option but let them know, in order to accommodate these demands it will result in a lower pay or home time, so we can continue to make a profit.

Have you ever heard of the concept opportunity cost? Sure, You can save something by doing all the office work, dispatch, compliance. Or, like I do, You can train and pay a kid in India 400$ a month and He ll do all that, freeing up your whole time to do something else way more profitable than 400$. Same applies, athough to a lesser degree, to driving your truck. If You can do something more profitable than a truck driver salary, your opportunity cost is more than what you save, so it makes sense to delegate. And removing collision insurance? Right. Paid off the truck that is now worth 100k, have your driver smash it into a wall and now what?? Lost 100k just like that? Take that risk just to save a couple hundred per month? Lol
