It isn't a homage at all, its a critique. Tarantino hates Bruce Lee and thinks he's overrated. The yellow jumpsuit represents the martial artists who starred in the Brucesploitation movies which followed Game of Death in which the yellow jumpsuit was often worn by the protagonist. Bruce is represented by the crazy 88 who are dressed as Kato. Tarantino is saying that just one if these relatively unknown martial artists could decimate an army of Bruce Lee's. His contempt for Bruce is on full display in the truly awful Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, where he makes a point to assassinate his character.

There was a faux Bruce Lee actor by the name of Bruce Li, otherwise known as Bruce "Lie", that Tarantino was a HUGE fan of. But yes, sadly he hates Bruce Lee or at the very least thinks that anyone with a grudge against his opinion of Bruce Lee can "go suck a di€k" as he said on the Joe Rogen show. It's rather an unfortunate hate boner that blemishes this really good director, in my opinion.

Tarantino I believe has outright confirmed it. His movies definitely have two shared universes, the ‘real’ world and a cinematic universe within that word. He’s quoted as saying (paraphrasing) that when characters from Res Dogs and Pulp Fiction go to the movies, Kill Bill is what they go see. I doubt the Kill Bill scene where Uma again gestures a square when saying the word, again incorrectly, is a coincidence. However, I doubt Bud is being played by Mr Blonde, so it’s not air-tight.

In Pulp Fiction, Mia tells John Travolta about a TV show she shot a pilot episode for. The show is about a group of assassins, all with specialties. The Deadly Viper Assassins in this movie are that squad from the show. Tarantino loved doing odd continuity like that. There is a belief that all of his movie take place in the same world, and there are clues pointing to it. For instance, everyone smokes a fake brand of cigarettes called Apple Cigarettes. Michael Madsen plays a character in Kill Bill 2, and he is Travolta’s brother from Pulp Fiction.

Everything Tarrentino does in his movies has a deliberate reason. Tarrentino grew up in the same time frame I did, and like most boys of that age we had the same heroes from TV and movies. Batman was out there, but there were others. Those were not Batman masks that all the Asian gang were wearing. Those were masks from The Green Hornet which also came out on TV around the same time as Batman. The music that was playing while she was on the plane flying into to Tokyo was the musical theme from The Green Hornet show. They also played when the bad guys with the Green Hornet masks were all showing up.

Both films are exquisite. A spaghetti western, Japanese shogun assassin-esque revenge film. Perfect ❤

-The way Tarantino sets up his movie world, there are two different sides. The "REAL" world, so movies like "Reservoir Dogs" and "Pulp Fiction" would be in that category. Then, movies like this, "Kill Bill" are the ones in the fantasy world. They are set up to be the "movies" that his characters in the "REAL" world would watch in their reality. If you remember "Pulp Fiction", this plot is almost the exact same as the movie pilot Mia was in with Fox Force Five. -35:50 Sonny Chiba, a Hong Kong cinema LEGEND!!! Also, that Shaw Brothers intro in the beginning was special because they were the top studios in Hong Kong cinema movies for DECADES.. -37:50 Gordon Lui, ANOTHER Hong Kong cinema legend!!! -47:35 The yellow track suit is an homage to Bruce Lee and one of his movies... -It's not a Katana, it's a "wakizashi". It's used for close quarters combat and also for a defeated fighter to perform "seppuku" to save face. Together with a katana they are called "daisho", which translates to "large and small"...

Great reaction, first time I’ve seen you guys. Subscribed. I’m a Tarantino fan, his knowledge of pop culture, movie history, and music is legendary. He would have known all of the music he picked for this movie before. The crazy music from the motorcycle Scene is the theme of the old TV show ‘the green hornet’. There was another one used several times, the theme from the TV series Ironside. Uma Thurman and Quentin Tarantino discussed this movie on the set of pulp fiction. Great reaction you guys.

keep em a'comin! They're all good haha..Inglorious Basterds doesn't get enough love IMO. I liked it more and more the more I rewatch it ALSO! Seemingly unrelated, but you guys NEED to watch "Ip Man" for an amazing all around movie + some of the all time best fight sequences ever
