Miyazaki is an animator at heart. How a person moves and interacts with their enviornment. Could be derived from things like culture, history and experience. That's why the characters are treated like real people and move like real people. The same could be said for the creatures. Adding a lot of life to the studios work.

In Castle in The Sky. Dola and her family of pirates have a whole life history of adventures to them that could have been it's own movie. But also serve as an amazing contrast to the main two characters. Then in Porco, how each pilot flies their own plane is distinct and subtle. It's really lovely.

I don't know How Miyazaki can make so much Characters loom both Human and Toon at the same time, but i Always knew it was the Eye that make the Characters look so Balance.

For me, Hayao Miyazaki is an artist of the most beautiful and humane emotions. the Boy and the Heron was somewhat a controversial movie but even then; when i look at it objectively it had such emotional depth, understanding and richness in its themes. Leaved me with melancholia and all kinds of feelings just like any other of his movies. I dont think "high art" is an applicable term most of the times but some art just goes beyond the standard aesthetic pleasure and becomes something bigger and unexplainable. Funny thing he probably remembers them as pain in the asses😅

I would definitely say with miyazaki's more detailed illustrations and concept art, he definitely has a heavy influence from the artist Mobius, a French illustrator( I had the make the correction) that actually used a lot of cross hatching shading, which emphasized roughness, and detail. You can see this in a lot of miyazaki's illustrations for the Nausicaa Manga, as well as Howl's moving Castle concept art, and much more.

Miyazaki's characters and illustrations feel grounded in some ways yet, is able to delv into the unordinary and create uncanny yet effective designs. I respect his work and realistic view on the world in terms of art, culture, and society. But I do think that optimism can really go a long way. Overall, his illustrations captures a sense of exploration. And the animations at Studio Ghibli are nothing to scoff at, they are truly something else.

Miyazaki's comments are so aggressive, is like he doesn't care if it will hurt your feelings, he's like so up front about it, just doesn't wanna leave it to himself, and that's what makes him a great animator,

In one of his documantaries he is pretty frustrated on his animators where he said: in here we draw people, not characters. He also added; if you dont get that you go somewhere else. Ofcourse its just a thumbnail + YT
