It’s still crazy to me how tinyBuild brands itself around its worst series. They’ve got so many incredible games, yet Hello Neighbor is their star. When was the last time No Time to Explain got a new entry? Speedrunners has been dead for years with no followup despite the fact it’s just begging for a sequel. Party Hard is Hitman but everyone’s the target! What’s Hello Neighbor got beyond a mediocre series of horror games with no scares and less and less teeth with each new game.

I knew Tinybuild only as the company behind Hello Neighbour, and the hate the series got. I bought a bundle of games, and included was a game called Tinykin. It was a super fun 3d platformer. Imagine my surprise when I looked up who made it and I see Hello Neighbour pop up 😭 I really don't get why they don't really give a ton of attention to their other games

The reason why so much marketed material from the Hello Neighbor 2 trailers got scrapped without mention is because of development issues. tinyBuild decided to demote the original creator of Hello Neighbor, Nikita, from his roles at Eerie Guest Studios a year before HN2 launched. Nikita was replaced by Alexus, someone who joined the development team a year before getting promoted. Despite having worked on the neural network and being a fan of open world games, Alexus decided to scrap the main marketed features and some of the marketed characters. However, rather than telling the fans the new direction of the game, he decided to do the opposite and lie to people's face in the official hello neighbor discord, telling them that nothing had been scrapped. He then bailed from the dev team less than three weeks before launch, leaving the rest to throw together a few more parts of the game (like the Neighbor's house second floor) in the span of a few weeks.

Nikita decided to step down from developing hn2 to work on his projects like rbo. Alexus became the game designer of hn2 and nikita became the creative director, which means that nikita still supervised the whole project and every decesion alexus made was discussed with nikita.

​@oaoyal446 Nikita was HN2's creative director from day one of its development, but I can guarantee you he had no involvement with the game after October 2021 (my source is him and alexus's linkedin profiles). Also, nikita's entire thing is about honesty (the bio on one of his social medias is " I believe honesty will save the world"), and I highly doubt he was plotting to lie to the fans the whole time

@@coolwing79 my brother if nikita didn't had any involvement in the games development he wouldn't appear in the credits. That's how credits work. And alexus being the game designer is supposed to talk with nikita about everything he wanted to change. That's how video game developing works when you have a big team

@oaoyal446 yea but Nikita DID work on the game prior to October 2021, so he would still have his name in the credits because he worked on the game. I mean, alexus isn't working on the game anymore, yet he's still in the credits. Another example from a different franchise is Marta Svetek being credited as the voice of Vanny in FNAF: Help Wanted 2 despite none of Vanny's lines being used in the full/final game.

I remeber when the betas started and everyone was obsessed. like every youtube channel had something related to it then the game launched and a few played it and that was it I saw like one episode for the other games but they always looked so disappointing compared to the promises

I played the first game and Search and Rescue. Search and Rescue was rough around the edges but I thought it was pretty good. Especially near the end where all the kids go missing. The first game sucked though
