Holly I have been following you since you had like 600 subscribers. I have never criticized you and I think you are an AMAZING human. But OH MY DAMN THE LACK OF AWARENESS TO YOUR OWN PRIVILEGE. You have never even had to pay your own housing bills of course you can diversify and have a “millionaire mindset” jdc

Yeah, not paying rent in the UK living in your parents house, certainly helps to be financially 'free'. 😂😂

When you promote Jeff Bezos' advice on how going into business avoids you having a "capped income" and instead provides opportunity for "infinite gains", don't you think of the amazon employees and their more than capped income and their working conditions? Money doesn't fall from the sky! I think there are better financial role models out there...

I saw another comment asking about ethical finance, and in line with that I unfortunately think there was a lot of crucial context missing in Holly's video, ethical finance being one of them. Investing in the top 500 companies in the US (many of which are oil companies) is about as morally oblivious as one can get. I understand the want to be financial free and desire to not have to stress about money, but I don't think pushing ideas of 'millionaire mindset' and proposing ideas such as drop shipping or investing in property for rent is the way to go. Of course these influences are inevitable, I guess I am just surprised they are coming from someone like Holly who I thought to be a moral person (regarding veganism and like she mentioned in the video about polluting cars). If you care about the planet and all people living on it, it's not hard to understand that there is nothing sustainable about 'millionaire mindsets'. Furthermore, there is no way of achieving financial freedom without it have repercussions for the planet and less privileged people. I am not the first to say this, but "passive income" is just a nice way of saying someone is working and you are profiting of that.
@andreeaandreea27965 ай бұрын
If you actually listened to the video, you’d have realized “millionaire mindset” is a catch-phrase used to describe an approach where instead of putting money in a savings bank-account, you let it roll, aka invest it in different stuff. I can’t belive you’re over here saying there’s no ethical way to live a comfortable life. People are allowed to live comfortable and have enough money to be happy and make the most of their privileges. Just because there’s poverty in the world, doesn’t mean that everyone should live in poverty as well. That isn’t going the solve the issue at all, and you’re over here just doing virtue signaling “oh look at me I’m so special because I hate everyone who can afford to be happy”. I completely understand hating billionaires. But what you’re saying here is pathetic. I’d suggest to get off your high horse.

You seem to have some kind of martyr and superiority complex. Until there is a meta analysis demonstrating me investing in SP500 has an overall negative impact I'm personally good. Vague ideas and contempt are not arguments.

I’m sorry I’m vegan too but this is taking it too far. Almost everything has some kind of repercussions
@ila90634 ай бұрын
@@lauraelisee there's nothing about it that's taking it too far. if you're wanting to be ethically consistent and leave a minimal footprint on the environment then you can't invest in the biggest polluters out there.. it's honestly ridiculous because then you lose all authority in drawing any moral lines anywhere. why should someone be vegan then? for what? the environment? if that's an arbitrary line being drawn then you can't complain when people don't give af about animals and the effect on the environment.
@ila9063Ай бұрын
@@lauraeliseeso we draw lines arbitrarily then? cool, let’s all invest in Nestle, Amazon, and JP Morgan 🙄 you can’t claim moral high ground while being this inconsistent.

Hi Holly, I’ve been wanting to invest for a while and had thought about the S&P 500, but I couldn’t bear the thought of my money helping these companies destroy the planet and supporting unethical working conditions. I’m just interested in your opinions/thought-process about/on this as a vegan and ethical small business owner.

Good advice today. I’ve learned several things about money and saving over the years. It’s not what you earn but what you save that matters. Money in the bank is a good feeling. Money will not buy you happiness but having money gives you options. Also, having money gives you the ability to not rush into hasty decisions but gives you time to study options or solutions. Good luck in your new job.

The instant confusion for this American! 🤣🤣 For anyone else who took a minute to adjust, index funds = mutual funds. ISA is similar to an IRA. Our taxes are totally different, so don’t let that confuse you. We also have different savings funds. Otherwise, great explanation, Holly!!!I’ve been watching you for several years, and I really enjoy keeping up with your life. ♥️

I always had to be careful not to spend too much money because I want to make sure that I have enough money to buy groceries, new clothes and shoes, and to be able to go to the movies. I was completely careless with money and I would give it away to scammers because they kept on harassing and bullying me to pay even if I did not want to and I would run out of money when I needed groceries. That is why that I cannot have a Credit Card and have a small amount in my Savings account.

I had a break down at work last year because I was skint living with my mum,(4 of us in a 2 bed flat) not wanting to use my degree, just didn't know how to make money as I was capped at minimum wage and couldn't get more hours so I could never save, so I decided to start selling clothes online... That was a year ago and now I open the doors to my first vintage clothing shop on Saturday, I really think unless you work for yourself you will forever be capped at how much money you can make
