There's nothing wrong with a Pell Grant, people can still get them even when they receive scholarships, work, etc. Its a means of ensuring that students can afford their education, wherever they are able/choose to study. It's not the students fault if their family or they themselves cannot earn enough to study. Being that having a college degree is now a requirement for many high paying jobs on the market, people shouldn't feel bad about supporting these programs or depending on them to graduate, especially if they are doing everything possible to help themselves and others out as well.
@gennykoala21136 жыл бұрын
Mmelliix3 agreed, if it wasn’t for my pell grant I don’t think I would’ve been able to pay for college without drowning in loans

This may be a random comment, but I'm learning to speak Korean on the side (learning French in school), and your snapchats and videos have helped! For example, learning the other day from your snapchat story about how to say "to be famous for cheese" (romanized would be chi-jeur-ro yu-myeong-ha-da i believe) so thank you Cherie! ^_^

I think students' loans are perfectly fine! Later in life, adults borrow money for endless things: house, car, health services, daycare, etc. that they will work (sometimes even their whole life) to pay back. Nobody tells them that they're doing wrong or such, it is the same in your case. So as long as you know your investment is worthy and that you will hold responsibility for that loan then it's completely fine :) I just feel great that you tried hard to earn money by your own effort first, the loaning stuff just came at the very end on your list. Try hard by yourself until it's just impossible to go any further! I know for some people, borrowing money is not just one of the first options but their only option. Please don't feel stressed about that loan, like how you're gonna pay it off or how other will perceive it, everything is gonna be fine. Wish you many joy and nice time studying in Korea.

I'm from South East Asia and grew up speaking fluent English. I'm in the UK now for university and I often get mistaken to be American or Canadian. lol. So it really saddens me that people such as myself will not be able to get the same opportunities and the right to work just because it isn't our "birth right". Not bashing on anyone but just that the system really sucks.
@FlamingMVkeys6 жыл бұрын
Actually... since you are at a native English speaking university in the UK, you would be able to get the scholarship and work where I worked! It’s just based on where the university you attend is located :)

@joinSonja7 жыл бұрын
I just wanted to say one thing you said only native english speaker are allowed to apply for that one scholarship and your thesis for that reason was the "fact" that native english speaker do not have an accent. Well I have to disagree with you on that point not only are their a variety of accents only in the USA but also different ways of writing (dialects) as American, British or Australian English. So all in all you have to agree that your thesis is without a substance and being a native english speaker does not qualify you to tutor anyone on a professional level.
@mauzel46767 жыл бұрын
Djsonja 1 I totally agree with you on that point. That's why people talk about an 'american accent' and a 'british accent' and so on. Also, not only the way of spelling (i.e. realize vs. realise) but also real words (i.e. lift vs. elevator) are totally different. IMHO they give the scholarship to native speakers only because they are 'sure' that natives won't make any mistakes. However, that isn't always the case, I met a lot of native english speakers who weren't aware of their own grammar rules or capable to use them. I'm not saying that I'd do a better job, I am no native and definitely not fluent, especially speaking is not really easy for me, but I do believe that the requirements for the scholarship are ridiculous and kinda unfair.. Same with being an english teacher there, actually. I know at least 20 people who are not native speakers but definitely on the same level..
@mocneeuq7 жыл бұрын
+mauzel a yeah her reasoning about Americans don't have accent is kinda dumb LOL. And yes not all native english speakers have proper grammar. More like the school probably chose native English speakers because they are more at ease or comfortable in speaking English not because they don't have accent LOL
@thatboikas21376 жыл бұрын
I agree with you but she didn't say that was her reasoning but the school's policy

its so upsetting when i see people like this who just smoothly get what they want. im not hating on this girl since im really happy for her but its annoying for people like me who cant do this. i work 30 hours a week as well as going to school full time and even with that it would take me 5 years (if i didnt spend a penny) to do this. there are no study abroad programmes available to me and my university doesnt offer scholarships
@FlamingMVkeys5 жыл бұрын
I’m really sorry that my video made you angry. Keep in mind, it was still hard for me to do this as well. It was not smooth. I didn’t show everything it took to get me to Korea. My university didn’t have an exchange program offered at all for one, so I transferred to another one just so I could go on the exchange program. Then I had to reapply for the university I am a part of now with the risk of not getting back in. I truly believe that if you set your mind to it and really want it, you’d be able to make this sort of thing happen with yourself too. I believe there is always a way and we all have to find our own way to accomplish our dreams. I’m really sorry with how difficult it seems for you tho. Your life seems so busy and stressful with so much work. :( I’m really sorry. I hope you’ll be able to accomplish your dreams no matter what your life looks like right now. ❤️ wishing you all the luck in the world.
