When you watch animations of any kind: * normal reactions * When you learn the amount of work behind it: _"Oh my goodness did you see the amount of details in that shot?"_
@YeOldeAccount272 жыл бұрын
Idea - IDK if this is applicable to cinema 4d, but in Blender there's something called "Projection mapping" where you could take an image and project it onto your model, much like an overhead projector. Something that might be worth looking into is seeing if Cinema 4d has a similar function, because if it does you could paint over a background in PS as shown, then project that image and others onto the geometry in cinema 4d. Then you wouldn't need to re-paint every single background, and could allow for more dynamic camera moves too.

Im cinema 4d user. And i think im agree with you. Cinema 4d better for mograph. Beside that, i think blender can handle it. Maybe he already put time and effort in cinema 4d, and hard to move to blender

This is super motivating to someone who's only ever animated with Pivot, once, 15 years ago. So dope.

Oh you are probably ahead of many ppl at this point, trust me. I know ppl who say want to be animators and only ever made 3 simple loop scenes that don't even last 1 sec each of them... lol. So, be proud!

I am glad people like you are willing to work in 2D for the sake of artistic diversity. If I had to do this for 2 second of animation I would promptly jump out a window. Crazy talent and patience from you.

In 3000 years, when humanity has long died out, aliens find a forgotten cellar with a human mummy still working on an full lengh animated film ... It's incredible how long it takes to draw an animated film.

Britanime!
@John-dd8kh2 жыл бұрын
Has that never been done before? Also, is fluidity strictly a Western thing? Sorry new to animation here..
@raccoonja59052 жыл бұрын
@@John-dd8kh Most frame-by-frame animation like this made for tv-shows or movies either saves cost by making the artstyle and design simpler or by using less keyframes. Typical western animation (cartoons) use simple designs with many keyframes, anime tends to use complicated designs with less keyframes. Anime also changes the number of keyframes used more often. They genaly use less keyframes for dialogue and more for action scenes. There are of course exceptions.

sometimes people are a little harsh on animators because an individual frame doesn't look as impressive as a detailed still image, but honestly the work into getting so consistent with drawing the same characters over and over, and the final product are worth it for their beauty. and not to mention, the added strength of the video medium with motion, and sound, it's often underappreciated work, but it's always worth the effort.

I use this method for objects a lot in sequential illustrations. It is kinda a pain to model if you are mainly 2D artist but it saves a lot of time and increases detail quality.

It's such a jem, not just to see the finished product, but also your work, under construction. Well. I guess we'll all just have to wait....faster, till you show us more, and eventually the finished result. I'm really at awe, that some animation company hasn't said " were in!" yet, of sorts. Love to see your own ideas (sketches, designs and such) going into it.
@MrVohaul2 жыл бұрын
Love it! You really nail that 80's/90's anime aesthetic. I use a similar method for creating comic stuff using 3D models etc but this is a whole other level. Really admire the dedication and sheer amounts of time you pour into these animations.
@hansbrackhaus8017 Жыл бұрын
The quality of your animations are top tier for being a one man show, and I believe that you have the skills to not show some of the weak spots in them, but just would have to spend immense amounts of time on them. In other words, the flaws your animations have I believe are time based, not skill based. You're real good.
@jinchoung2 жыл бұрын
geez, tv paint seems so PRIMITIVE. the way that it has to process every little thing to each frame explicitly. nowadays, there are probably at least a half dozen programs that can do that kind of thing better and faster. AND YET, i think it's really great that you're continuing on and working as you do. at the end of the day, you're getting stuff done with a tool that you're familiar with instead of constantly being on a tool upgrade treadmill which is the pitfall i always fall into. imo, even if you're doing your stuff with sticks in the dirt, to actually do the work in a way that you find enjoyable is more important than anything else. so kudos and keep on truckin'.
@wybewestra70502 жыл бұрын
Agreed, in the end it doesn't matter which tools you use, as long as you're not held back by them. For those wanting to try this technique themselves however, I'd recommend Blender. Then you can do the whole process in the same program :).

your animations are absolutely breathtaking, the final product is so polished and detailed it looks like it was a 3d render which shows an insane level of skill in terms of inbetweening and patience, and dont get me started on how natural/organic it all feels, she really seems alive! i can only hope to reach the level of deftness and determination your animations require, and i hope to see more of your content!

People gushing about this in comment, especially ones bemoaning their own art... i think alot of them are missing the point. There is no trick here, there is a technique that he's applied to good fundamentals in animation and art and anatomy, and hard friggin work. If the foundation wasn't strong, then it wouldn't hold all the supplemental 3d rendering he's showing to you. Put in the work, build your basics up, learn your art and craft, whatever it is. I mean, just look at the inspiration shots @15:00, he's not copying the art work, he's copying the general technique. And you couldn't do that if your basics aren't sound; you wouldn't understand the methodology/aesthetic you want to draw from. I respect that Otaking is sharing this, but now that i see his workflow i respect "artist/animator Otaking" even more.

You could also paint the 3D objects in the scene and duplicate them around as needed. Then youd only have to make small readjustments in PS after rendering then. Also for the helmet, you can put a white placeholder for the face INSIDE the helmet, then you dont see the details in the back and can just render it out like that.
