Very cool. Sounds like a straight forward solution. One day i would like to do something like this. Thanks Bryan for another great video.

Awesome video bro...I was doing my water changes 5gallons daily with my dos until it clogged. I love your method niceeee 👍🏾

I was doing the same thing with DOS but it was slow and loud. PMUPs work much better.

The Bizness giving us the Bizness .... nice ... like how you make your life easy and make your equipment work for you. Thanks for sharing ... love watching your vids ...... Happy Reefin.

Thanks! I must admit I am a lazy reefer but why work harder when you can automate many tasks? It gives me more time to gaze into my box of ocean.

Great idea! Are you running any other supplement like Triton method that would off set the additives during the water change and if you are what are you doing or how did you over come this? Great vid. Will be watching more of your vids. Thanks!

Have you found this to be more economical than just 1 dos? I have 2 pmups now. One for the atk and one to top of my rodi reservoir. What would I need to make this work with existing equipment? More worried about having all the ports than anything.

Nice tank man! Hey, I have a question about quarantine tanks. You have more fish then I will but do you quarantine your fish before hand?
@ThaBiznessReefTank7 жыл бұрын
I have a 40B that always stays setup for QT. All fish go in there first. If the fish is infected then I will remove the rock and treat accordingly to what ever the fish has. I have too many fish to bring velvet in and have a wipe out from a spur of the moment purchase.
@kchamberlain867 жыл бұрын
Good view. I’m just now getting my 120g. I won’t have as many as you. Do you think I really need a QT? Thanks! Also what do you dip your corals in before placing them in the tank?
@ThaBiznessReefTank7 жыл бұрын
I do think you should QT. Its better to be safe than sorry. I use Bayer as a coral dip.
@kchamberlain867 жыл бұрын
Would this be a good QT for fish? www.petsmart.com/fish/starter-kits/top-fin-essentials-aquarium-starter-kit-40713.html
@ThaBiznessReefTank7 жыл бұрын
A 10 gallon is fine for QT. I would recommend a cheap power filter that holds filter floss, a cheap powerhead for flow, a heater, and some PVC for hiding spots. That kit has most everything you will need. A Seachem ammonia badge also to tell when you need to do a water change due to increased ammonia. You may be able to find a used tank and all the parts for cheaper on Craigslist tho. It doesn't have to be the best looking thing or new. You just want to make sure your fish are healthy before putting them in your display.

Hey I'd like to learn how to program my apex to do water change.
@flobees7 жыл бұрын
Hi Bizness, came across your ado searching for AWC and I was using the DOS but like you and everyone else its loud and slow, love what you did just want to know how do you hook up the float switch to talk to apex from the garage/basement? do you hook up the basement PMUP to 1-LINK? if so how do you do that all the way from the basement? Thanks
@ThaBiznessReefTank7 жыл бұрын
+Flo Wee i have multiple eb8's and pm1s around my basement. I connected the distances by 50 ft aqua bus cables so every device can talk to the others. I run 2 displays, sump, QT, and mixing station off 1 apex.
@ThaBiznessReefTank7 жыл бұрын
+Flo Wee the float switches are connected to break out boxes and optical floats are connected to the FMM
@flobees7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your reply, so if I get the Apex optical floats I would need a FMM module? and I also need a 1 Link module for the PMUP? a long aqua bus cable. I am using the Tunze ato not looking to replace that depending on if it just make sense to just use the Apex Ato instead. Guess I will also need an EB8 .
@flobees7 жыл бұрын
one more thing where did you buy the 50 feet aqua bus cables? Could not find it. Thanks
@ThaBiznessReefTank7 жыл бұрын
+Flo Wee optical floats = fmm. normal floats = break out box. The PMUP comes in 2 ways. A 1link connector or a normal power plug. I use them both depending on if that area has a eb832 or eb8. The long aquabus cable connects the components in my laundry room mixing station to my display area.

I've just been looking st the apex system and here in the uk it is £800 hahaha I can get a whole new setup for that haha .... I love how it works though and I would love to get one and your making me want one even more 🤗😻
@ThaBiznessReefTank7 жыл бұрын
yeah its expensive but it makes life alot easier especially if you travel alot.

Tha Bizness Reef Tank yeah even if you don't travel air it's really neat with all the functions that it has ... I really really really want one hahaha

It's amazing the clever things you can do with technology these days. So in total, does it take about an hour to do the whole change from start to finish? 30 minutes to pump out, and 30 minutes to fill? Is your return pump running the whole time and just the ATO turned off? Very slick how you've come up with this! 👍
@ThaBiznessReefTank7 жыл бұрын
It takes about a hour in this setup. The return pump is running during this time and the ATO is shut off.

How does it know when to stop draining? Is it on a timer or float for when it has drained enough? Also 5g is not a lot are u doing this multiple times a day? Nice work man
@ThaBiznessReefTank7 жыл бұрын
CJ'S AQUARIUMS The drain in on a timer so i can add/subtract water from the change based on time. The fill is based on a float. I have been doing this randomly about 4 times a week when im around tank to make sure everything is ok. I'm confident in it now but I believe in testing the hell out of everything. Soon I'll raise it to do a single 20gallons a shot but I'm no hurry and i like frequent water changes. Another thought is to schedule it like a AWC daily and do 2.5 g a shot daily.

Biz, I understand you are running a hose from the laundry room to the tank but are you running connecting the pmup in the laundry room to the apex controller?
@ThaBiznessReefTank6 жыл бұрын
Yes. I have a 50ft aquabus cable running to the laundry room to that connects my main tank apex network to the laundry room apex network. In the laundry room I have 2 EB8's and 2 PM1's to run the tanks in there. There is an updated version to this video also kzbin.info/www/bejne/lae8imaPa9ypmtE

What is your programming like? i have been trying to set up a similar system but cant get my drain to shut off. i dont use the apex pump but old ones i had lying around. would only need it to be on for like 30 sec to drain a few gallons
@ThaBiznessReefTank7 жыл бұрын
The code is in screen shots. Send me a PM with your apex name and I could add you as read only to see it if you like. I am pumping water all over my basements with PMUP so it takes me awhile to remove/fill up a few gallons.
