the thing is with me is i cant ever think of anything to draw whenever i want to sit down to draw and then when i DO have ideas i cant get it to look the way i want it to which has resulted in an art block that has lasted for nearly 3 years now

Totally understandable! My personal fix for that was to just do either assignments from people (this help because it has to just get done no matter what), or doing studies like anatomy/perspective if I don't have any ideas for what to draw. Honestly I do think most of the time an idea doesn't come out the way you want to even many years later, it's best to just keep drawing. I hope you fix your art block, you can do it! Best not to expect perfection but try to enjoy the process :)

i have a similar problem, i feel motivated but when i look at the blank canvas i just cant input anything, not even a stroke. i could practice anatomy and the other fundamentals but i dont really enjoy it because it feels like i dont actually develop my skills when doing so. problem : 1. i draw for the sake of animation and telling a story through it rather than making an illustration so most of my ideas work more on moving images than still ones. 2. i cant enjoy something unless it aligns with my standards or i view it as good after a few days have passed. 3. i suck at dynamic lighting, composition and anatomy aka elements i need to incorporate to be pleased with my art. i dont like basic 3/4 character facing the camera type of deal with bust up shot and only that. i do have 2 solutions to those problems solution 1. pick a color, any color and draw according to that color, it could define the mood you have to go for or feature an already existing character you have ( you do have to look up the symbolism of the colors) , if one isnt enough add a 2nd color which can be the sub color meaning it should be in smaller dosages in the painting like 40% and main color is 70% and not to overwhelm you too much the colors you pick can just be whatever you think x color is, it doesn't need to be the fancy named ones. solution 2. just suck it up and try to practice the anatomy or stuff you didnt try to practice before, even if they are unfun to you, not only will you develop your skill if you keep at it but you will unlock more things to draw fixing the "when i DO have ideas i cant get it to look the way i want it to". literally what clockweiz says. of course, i could just follow my own advice but since i am pretty lazy when it comes to drawing on pc, tablet is much more portable and accessible but i suck ass at drawing there, and no undo button on traditional.

awesome video, it's really inspiring how positively you view making art! I think the easiest way to reduce artblock is taking yourself less seriously and overall just being kinder to yourself. The second I stopped approaching art as "i have to make this professional quality piece or else i'm worthless" and more like "let's see where this doodle session takes me" i started getting artblock SO much less. Anyways, always a pleasure to see your uploads! keep it up :D

Thank you, happy to hear that really! I totally agree when you take it less seriously and be kinder to yourself, drawing becomes a much more fun and easy to approach act. Thanks for enjoying my vid and I will keep up the uploads and give it my all ! :)

I’ve found that 1. If I do something daily I can do it forever, but if I stop for 1 day I’ll stop for months, so I ended up drawing daily. I have also found that I am better at making myself Not do something than do something, so I just hold my permission to sleep hostage until I draw something widhjaxj (do not do this)

Yeah breaking my daily streak just takes it out completely sometimes. And Oh definitely do sleep :o (although I do need to sleep a bit better myself as well, I stay up way too late drawing!)
