I love the little details like fighting rival 6 (in rocket HQ) at 1:06:00, you take 1 step up *before* walking into his line of sight so that when you beat him he can take the quick exit, rather than going around you. Probably saves only a second, but it's worth it, and also makes you look like a gracious winner, instead of blocking the way like an asshole and rubbing defeat in his face. It was very nice of you.

Imagine the crazy time this would have if Bellsprout not putting him to sleep and red bar perfectly working at Rival 5... Its just another good example of "The Game gives, the Game takes". The perfect run doesnt exist, thats why its still a challenge. I wonder when this run finally will get beaten. 2 years of WR, congratz Pokeguy :)

thank you for answering my questions, i only have one more: is there any scenario or case where fighting the trainer in Brock's gym to level up Nidoran more could save time on the following routes and mt moon?

No. fighting the bug catchers is better and quicker, since they are required anyway.

could/would one be better off using horn drill on the Golbat on Agathy instead of trying to get the Blizzard crit?
@pokeguy4 жыл бұрын
Blizzard cause golbat to super potion 50% of the time, it can freeze, golbat can use wing attack which doesn’t kill, supersonic which is only 55% to hit, all of this makes blizzard way better than a 30% horn drill

Awesome effort! How'd you outspeed Jynx without X Speed? I did a casual run of this following your original video and Jynx moved first against Nidoking (I was a few levels higher than yours too) and Horn Drill for whatever reason didn't effect Jynx (Even with X Accuracy). Did I miss something?

you need the levels to outspeed sabrinas alakazam, and there are level 42 pokémon in the pokémon mansion

Would trading your nidoking for the nidoqueen (that get's more exp) be faster? Also what if you just sped your way to safari zone and manip 6 tauros and teach them all horn drill?
@darkhorse2344 жыл бұрын
It wouldn't be because Nidoqueen doesn't have as high attack as Nidoking. You also wouldn't be allowed to evolve the nidoranM, so would be much slower until you could get to the trade in underground path. Also getting more exp means more level up jingles, which wastes time.

So you turned game off and on over and over to get the perfect nidoran who was captured in the first attempt on the first square of grass? Seems cheap. Like it’s not a full speed run, but it’s still impressive nonetheless.
@IamGrimalkin3 жыл бұрын
Nah he only turned it off and on once before going to get the nidoran. Turning the game off and on is included in the time, so he couldn't have just done it repeatedly, it would have taken too long. In Pokemon Red the 'random' number generator is determined by the patterns of buttons pressed since the game was turned on. So turning off and on is to reset the random number generator; then he can do a pre-set sequence of moves, in exactly the correct frame, to get the best Nidoran every single time. In theory you could probably not bother with turning the game off and on again and just do frame-perfect button presses from start to finish, but that might be kind of difficult. I suspect not getting the best Nidoran wasn't really the most important random number manipulation though, Mount Moon was. If he got a less-than-optimal Nidoran, he probably could have just used the two rare candies he ignored and he'd have been fine. I would have thought getting a bunch of encounters in Mount Moon would lose way more time, Honestly in my opinion the bigger bit of "cheating" is using the Pokedoll to skip the Team Rocket hideout. The reason being: If you told the Pokemon Red developers before release that their random number generator depended on the pattern of buttons pressed, they'd have said: "Yeah we know. So?" If you told them that you can skip the Team Rocket hideout using a Pokedoll, they'd have gone "Oh No! We must fix it!". Although that's why there's a 'classic' speedrun, which bans both saving the game and the pokedoll exploit.
@austinbarnett67564 жыл бұрын
“No glitches” is kinda laughable. Yes it isn’t a glitch but you’re exploiting the ability to turn off and on the game to get the results you want. Kinda cheating bruh
@austinbarnett67564 жыл бұрын
Although I fully understand the manipulation. Keeps the RNG from shafting a whole run
