I think in this particular run there was a way to guarantee a Gible encounter (it's been a while, so I don't 100% remember) , so he banned Chomp because he felt it would make the strategies less fun and more "Find a way to setup garchomp and win"

Hey, have you ever tried a generation-locke? It's a bit of a project. Basically you play through each game in release order and whatever pokemon that survives the bout with the champion/red/final battle is from then on banned from being used in future gen's playthroughs. Currently trying one and it really has forced me into being more creative/diverse with my teams than I am usually, even by nuzlocke standards. Anyway, really appreciate the content, seeing you suffer and overcome these sadistic rom hacks is always a pleasure.

I know one dude on 4chan(he's the guy that inspired the challenge) that restarted all the way back to pokemon red after he had gotten all the way to Black 2 and wiped to that games champion. Jesus Christ. About the ban rules may change depending on what you find most entertaining. For example, if i had an espeon in my party when I beat cynthia in platinum, I COULD ban the entire eeveelution tree, but I play it so I'm just unable to use Espeon in any future subsequent playthrough. As for encounter rules, I just include the hall-of-famers in the dupes clause as they will always remain in my heart, so if I beat Blue in pokemon red with a machamp that survived, then I can't catch a machop again ever.

Personally, I think a good Pokemon romhack is not having too much of original Pokemons (Fakemons if you prefer) because type considering is too hard in that way, I once tried Uranium and I mistyped some critical Pokemon that actually ended my nuzlocke run Then make sure to find with National Dex mode (more than the original game has, so its cross-generation) Look at the screenshots or info in the game for something you find interesting, like this, for example, double battle gym battles, rotation battle rivals, triple battles etc

Had to come back and see this gem again. You (Pkmn Challenges) actually inspired me to do my first Nuzlocke -- Pokemon White, I believe, on cartridge. Wiped to Clay, but I started a second one, only to fizzle out due to grinding fatigue. I think I'm going to get myself an emulator once school's out for the semester so I can actually complete the Nuzlocke. I'm going to see this through. Hope this comment helps with the algorithm!
