While it’s sad, I’m glad you shared about how hard being pre-professional is because I’ve just joined a pre-professional ballet school and I thought there was something wrong with me that I was having such a hard time, so thanks for sharing that and letting me know I’m not alone Mackenzie ❤

It makes me sad the environment you were in made you cry every day, that wouldn't be acceptable in most jobs. I hope the culture improves! Thanks for your honesty, it will help other dancers - and I'm proud you made it to where you are now

I bet it also helps to be a good dancer.

You have to WORK very hard at it. Finances ect have to all come together. You can have lots s of talent but if one of these components are missing, thousands don’t make it.

I started ballet at 14, over one year ago and I improved really really fast, all my teachers are impressed how fast I’ve achieved different classes, I’m already training in intermediate (RAD). And my teachers say I’m pretty talented and I got a feeling for expressions and telling a story. Not flexing I just want your advice. I wanna get professional, I work really hard cause I started so late, but I still go to normal school. I found a good studio even if it’s definitely not a big school and I don’t have the super perfect body type of the ballet world, I’m a little more curvy, then the classics would want me to be. I’m currently doing about 15-20 hours of dancing per week and doing Pilates at home for strength (I’m taking a private per week if that’s important). Still need to handle normal school, yey, and I earn money for ballet in my free time. And I eat healthy most of the time. Unfortunately my school do not offer competitions, we have performances and exams of the RAD instead. But I’m trying to get into summer intensives at next year. I really wanna make it professional and I’m grateful for every advice, so would you recommend anything else I could do?

This might not be great advice, but remember that everyone’s journey is different! It seems you are doing well, but just make sure that even if it takes longer, do things the right way, you don’t want an injury now or later that could take you out temporarily or even permanently.

Hi I need a little bit of advice! So I am currently at a studio I like pretty well. What I mean is it is not toxic at all and sweet teammates/coaches. The only issue is that my studio is a more jazz-focused. No matter what level you are on, you are required to compete a jazz, lyrical/contemporary, musical theatre, and the production number. You have the option to do a hiphop line or a tap line, but they have never competed a ballet dance. I want to go somewhere ballet-focused since it’s my favorite style but the ballet schools in my area are not very good (toxic). I’m very conflicted since I love my studio but if I don’t leave, I will never start pointe. My studio does offer pointe classes but they always conflict with the company classes. Not to mention, my sister does pointe and I’m on the competition team, so it would be too much money for me to try and do pointe as well. What do I do? I’m a little late to start pointe but if I start now I believe I can catch up (age 12). Please help me!

so ik mackenzie is trying to make money but as someone looking to become a therapist DO NOT USE BETTER HELP. i realize therapy is expensive and not available to many people for many different reasons, but if you can i would encourage anyone to seek help from a licensed therapist who has their own practice or works for a professional company. better help (and others like hers and hims) has had many lawsuits brought against them, taking the wrong medication can have really bad side effects and really mess up your mind. okay rant over, happy dancing❤

You're a professional ballet dancer, not a ballerina -- have respect for the title.
@tunamom78984 ай бұрын
but the fact that she is a professional DOES make her a ballerina. this is a generational and location based thing. decades ago, and in non-english speaking countries, the title of ballerina generally referred to principal female ballet dancers. but in recent times, people generally now refer to principal female ballet dancers as principals or primas. maybe students, or even pre-professionals, wouldn't classify as ballerinas, but considering Mackenzie IS a professional I think it's pretty rude to comment this. and not only does it age you but also imply that you are out of touch with the industry in its current state
