I told my 5th grade teacher I wanted to be an actress when I grow up && I'll never forget what she said to me "the chances of that are almost impossible" since then I never even tried out for plays at school or anything. That would give some people reason to work hard to prove her wrong. I wish I could say thats the option I chose but it's not. Now I'm 27 && I can feel I was meant to at least try. I have no idea where to start on my dreams. I was only an 11 year old girl && it crushed me real bad. .....I just wanted to share my story so all girls, boys, teens and adults please just go for it. Don't ever believe anyone if they say anything similar. Don't make the big mistake I made! I hope someone is inspired by this! Stay safe all!

Do you need to have a lot of experience to be in a Netflix project? And can u live in a country like Sweden and still audition for something in America ?
@ActingCareerCenter4 жыл бұрын
At the very least, you need to have training. Other acting experience will be helpful but not 100% necessary depending on the role. Like I said in the video, it will be VERY difficult to audition for American shows while living overseas. Part of the reason is that it will cost production so much money to the actors in and give them a hotel. Whereas when the actor is local, they don't have to pay for any of that. So much of it comes down to money. That's why it's called show BUSINESS.

Congratulations! Ask your agent these questions because they will have more detailed answers than I can give you. It is not impossible to book there are some things that will make it easier. I have a question. Let’s say that you audition for two rolls for two separate projects in the same week the next week you audition for another one and you got callbacks on two out of three of them which would be great and lucky and wonderful but they need you to come on a date where the other audition does as well. What do you do? how do you pick one or the other? and more importantly how do you politely decide not to except the other call back without hurting your chances for possibly the next time that they call upon you?
@ActingCareerCenter2 жыл бұрын
This happens all the time and nobody is going to get offended if you are unable to accept a job due to a scheduling conflict. You can always ask then if it is possible to reschedule due to your circumstances. Sometimes they can accommodate but usually they will not be able to and you will have to make a decision.

Kurt, I've been working with John Cassablancas for the past 10 weeks and already did my first round of just headshots, 2nd round of full body shots and headshots upcoming. I am wondering in you have any thoughts on John Cassablancas as an acting training school is. I've heard some good and some bad reviews but none from acting professionals. Are they a good school or not. The coaches do not seem to stay on the syllabus and expect us to be prepared for items that are either not on the syllabus or on weeks ahead of where we are supposed to be so it is making me feeling me as if I am not only up prepared but very discouraging. I am trying to stay way ahead of the slated syllabus but it never seems to be enough. I've brought it up but get the "brush off"....what is your suggestion to not only be the best prepared but keep myself motivated? I feel that I am losing myself in the disorganized. What suggestions do you have? Hw do I stay ahead? While taking classes, can I begin going after auditions without an agent at this point? I am focused on becoming not a good actor but a great actor. I know it takes extremely hard work and am working harder at getting things right more than I ever did in college. I do know I am having trouble coming up with how to get a monologue, commercial and elevator pitch written. I major in technical writing and business law in college so creative writing is NOT my strong point. What pointers do you have to get me unstuck?? I've also heard some good things about John Cassablancas and some not so good things. Please be honest about what you may have heard. I would appreciate any insight you may have. (Anyone else who reads this, I would greatly appreciate your thoughts as well.)

The casting process often moves very fast. For shows, they are usually casting the next episode about a week prior to the beginning of filming. There were times where I was booked on a show and I had to be on set the very next day. So the farther away you live, the more difficult it becomes from just a logistical standpoint. Plus if you are not an American citizen or permanent resident, you would need to get a work visa to legally work in the US and that process can take months to complete.

Do you got any advice for an actor in a small town in South Carolina that just getting into there sophomore year that been only acting for a year in a half

South Carolina is not a bad place to be! Your proximity to Georgia is a definite plus and there are productions filming in Charleston all the time. Keep taking acting classes and improving your skills. When you're ready, find a reputable agent in your state who can submit you for projects in the entire Southeast.

I don't have a favourite but I am addicted to Korean dramas. I also what Japanese and Chinese, but mostly Korean. I still watch English shows but not as often as I used to. "Mr. Sunshine" is what got me started. It is a historical drama but I like all kinds of Korean dramas, with the exception of some of the teen dramas or silly comedies.

I Currently live in the Country of Bahrain which is kinda in the middle of the world, its an island and its starting to get popular I have got casted for roles in my school theater, It sucks because of COVID one show I got in had to be canceled and the Theater teacher had to leave so I was pretty sad about it because now who is going to host these shows in my school theater because they really encourage me to become and actress, when I first got casted I was so happy and excited. I really want to become an Actress for movies and TV shows but it seems to be hard because of where I live so I hope I can find a way around that. Your videos are helping me a lot with ideas I could do to audition for shows. If you have any ideas for me please reply to this they will be really helpful.
