As a radiologist from a "third world country" I can't believe they let you go out of the hospital without even an RX. Like in my hospital there is no way we wouldn't give you a face and brain CT. Also, please if you have face or head trauma after fainting, especially if you have any neurological symptoms like numbing please go to a hospital immediately!!! Not the next day and don't go to sleep unless you had a complete neurological evaluation. Please be safe. ❤
@wendys643810 ай бұрын
Honestly, the US is a third world country....especially when it comes to health "care." Its absolutely normal for doctors to not treat anything that isn't "OMG, you're actively unaliving as I look at you" in the emergency room. More often than not, they just assess your vitals, if it all looks normal, they send you home to follow up with any appointments you bother to make based on their suggestions. So if you experience chest pain, for example, if you aren't having a heart attack, they'll send you home with a suggestion to see a cardiologist, but its up to you to make that appointment and it might not be for days or weeks, even if you explain you were just in the ER. I recently slipped a rib, it hurt so much I legitimately passed out, but thankfully I made it to the bed first. The next day I made an appointment to see my primary doctor, but they couldn't see me for 2 days. Went to that appointment, the doctor didn't even touch me (just charged me $100 USD after insurance picked up part of the fee), sent me to get outpatient x-rays where the tech was confused as to why I was bothering (that ran $200 USD after insurance), and to the chiropractor that gave me a 5 second "adjustment" and 15 minute TENS treatment (that ran $95 with no insurance discount). Its now about 3 months later and I'm still experiencing pain, but nobody did anything, so I don't want to with bother it anymore. Oh, the least expensive part of the whole thing was the $5 USD prescription for narcotics the doctor sent me home with, so there's that, I guess. 🤷🏼♀️

I think Japan would’ve been the same way had I gone to the ER, however I went to Urgent Care in the U.S. which is where you go if it’s not a life threatening emergency because a hospital ER trip is stupendously expensive and may not be covered by insurance. In my case, I showed no symptoms of a concussion and I had full control over my facial muscles (although numb) so I personally wouldn’t have wanted an x ray or a CT tacked onto my bill, especially knowing that the only thing to be done would be to have it heal on its own. If I had a larger or more obvious fracture or if it had affected my eyesight / couldn’t voluntarily move muscles, I absolutely would’ve gone to the ER 👍

I suffered a heard injury on a job. Slab of granite fell off a wall and struck me in the head. My speech was slurred, side of head was bleeding and I was dry heaving in the ER. They didn’t give me a head ct. said “well you’re talking and able to walk, so you should be fine” and let me drive home. I eventually got checked later because the pain and issues never left. I’m now on medication for the rest of my life and in neurotherapy, speech therapy, etc. The US can be awful at any clinic or hospital.
@wendys643810 ай бұрын
@@whiskeybrandybuck a workplace injury is the BEST chance, in the US, of getting proper health care....sadly. Workman's Compensation would have covered everything. You should have absolutely pushed for full proper care. I feel sad that you didn't have someone with you to push the doctors to actually give you treatment. I hope you have found ways to cope with your chronic health issues now though, perhaps, if you have the spoons, its still worth consulting with a personal injury lawyer to see if you can get back compensation for the initial injury too....

I hope you feel better soon, I've broken my cheek and eye bone and know it can be a bit of a process to fully heal. One major tip for when you feel your breaks have healed is chewing gum to re strengthen the facial muscles on that side. Just make sure to stop immediately and rest when you feel the muscles getting tired so you dont overwork anything.

My partner deals with similar fainting spells, but hers are due to her having POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) stemming from EDS (Ehlers-Danlos syndrome). Lucky we now are able to handle them well with meds and diet, but it can definitely be scary sometimes! Wish you the best in continual healing, and can’t wait for the next vid. Until next time!

Thank you for sharing moments like the headphones. It's so fun to watch babies begin to experience and understand the world around them. That collar-daiper changing thing was so cool! I feel your pain, Reina. I have a similar issue and while living in Bangkok about 20 years ago, I fainted and smashed my jaw into a table in a restaurant. More recently I did so in the bathroom and smashed my mouth into something I still haven't figured out. Woke up on the floor in a pool of blood and a ton of pain. I've had to have 3 surgeries to rebuild the bone around my mouth so I can have dental implants put in to replace the 2 teeth I knocked out.

Girl Last year I had a Contusion / brain injury from a fall. UGH!!! You are not the same afterwards I swear! Falling is the worst especially when you have a condition and you know when you start feeling faint so you sit or lie down. That's me too. But last year when it happpened... I was in the bathroom - on the toilet. . . Yep. Don't remember going in to the bathroom. My husband found me - I crashed hard! And right across the toilet is this piece of furniture that holds toilet paper. Yep... It my head on that. My head felt like it was on fire! I thought I was bleeding from that fall. It's soo embarressing too! So glad it was my husband who found me and not a fire fighter. UGH. Thank God for husbands. Right? But your poor face!!! At least it didn't last - that's good, right?

As someone with POTS and Chiari Malformation this is pretty much my biggest fear. I pass out a lot when I'm stressed, tired, or overdo it but I have gotten great at being able to tell when it's going to happen. The scariest one was when I took my cat to the vet for an emergency right when I woke up but I was able to brace myself before it happened. I also had brain surgery and had part of my skull removed so I am so terrified of just passing out with no warning signs and no prep to sit or lay down cuz that could be bad news if I hit my head.

Reina, I'm so glad you're okay! Last year I was playing flag football and the same thing happened to me when someone ran into me! I luckily also didn't break my orbital floor but my cheek bone was noticeably shifted to the touch so I had a short 15 minute surgery to straighten that. I also broke the sinus bones on that side. I didn't have the weird nerve feelings you had but my eye would twitch like you and that part of my face was numb for a while and for a very long time my gums and teeth were numb in the area. Everything is fine for me now though! It took about 8 months?

I'm really sorry you're dealing with those nerve issues. Facial nerve damage sucks a dick. What you're experiencing almost sounds like synkenesis, which in facial paralysis (bells palsy), is when you try moving one muscle, but your brain sends signals through the wrong nerve and another part of your face moves; eg. You blink, but your lip twitches at the same time. It's considered like a faulty re-wiring of your facial nerve. Synkenesis specifically is with the facial nerve and muscle contractions though, so I'm not sure how this sensation works in the trigeminal nerve, but maybe it's something you can bring up with your neurologist next time you see them! Hopefully it's nothing to worry about at all, and your nerve is just healing itself back to normal. Sounds like you're doing everything right, so keep on trucking dude!
