About a year or so ago you mentioned that you pay ahead on your utilities. I thought it was such a great idea that I started doing the same. There has been several times I skipped a payment due to unexpected expenses. Currently I'm back up to about 3 months ahead again. Thank you so much!!

Excellent advice. Thank you for putting it into normal real ppl life: the drawer bills. Been there, done that 😂 Sending this to my adult kids to see normal perspective and to begin if they haven't yet. V God bless 🙏

Oh, how funny! My daughter just came over today to print off budget pages she made herself a few years ago. And, here, you’re talking about budgeting. She quit her job because she became a first time mama. Her husband just accepted a new job, making a little more than his old job, but nowhere near what her pay was. I’m so proud of them for following their hearts and, mostly, for trusting the Lord will work out all things for them!

I bless the pastor that sent us to a financial planner when we were in our first months of marriage. Learning to budget has been so good. Now, forty years later we still budget.

My husband hated trying to follow all the popular budgeting methods so for years we just were winging it. That was stressful to me since we had very limited income at the time (one income, homeschooling 5 children). Eventually my husband decided to open 3 bank accounts...one savings and 2 checking. One of the checking was our weekly spending money for groceries, toiletries, etc. Then we calculated all our monthly bills (cost per year) divided by 52 and rounded up a few dollars. That amount is deposited every week into our bill account. Then we set up automatic payment for all of our utilities so we never have to think about writing checks, etc. It has worked beautifully for years now. All of our accounts are linked to the savings for overdraft protection in case we somehow spend too much in one category. Now that all the kids are on their own, our savings has been growing. Budgeting doesn't have to be complicated.😁

We have 4 accounts, mine, his, savings, and a tithe account even though all are linked. Savings is for us, tithe belongs to God and he shows us who could use a hand. It works great!

We do something similar. Mike is best with the budget so he handles the main portion. I get a certain amount that we discussed and my budget buys food, clothing, kitchen supplies, and whatever else I need. We both use notebooks because it helps our progress. Mike also has a large spreadsheet that he uses for long term. It’s worked great for us. We both use a credit card for everything. It gets paid off each month and we earn cash back. We have paid off our truck and camper, now to get serious with the mortgage for our little farm. Thanks Heidi, budgeting used to be taught in school, but I don’t think they do that anymore. It’s really sad. Shalom!

We do very similar as you. We were blessed many years ago when our church offered a financial planning/budget training class and we did the same to get out of debt! God has so blessed us! Blessings on your family and your homestead as well Kiddo! 🌻🐛🌿💚🙏💕

I have been doing something similar for about 20 years. Before my finances were a mess. I regret not starting sooner because this method helps you have a clear view of the money you are giving away on things that are not important. I hope people watching you mimic your process because it does work.

Great video! I owed a few people money years ago when I was starting over. I went without various things for months and was able to pay them back really quickly. I keep track of my income and expenses monthly by making a log of all my income and expenses. It really helps to see where my money goes and when I am getting over budget. Thanks for sharing!

Oh my!!! Your hair in that pic looks just like mine did back in the day!!! I SO wanted straight hair....everyone had "feathered" had and there was no way I was ever gonna be able to do that. The the "Curl Tamer" came out. I think that was the first heated flat iron. I fried my hair sooo bad, but I didn't care at the time bc it was STRAIGHT! (haha...like straw...just like straw!) Anyway...that was totally off topic, but you know me! Great video with great tips!! God bless!!

While this never got my hair really straight, I achieved that look by simply using a brush and a hair dryer, now I just let my hair dry naturally

@@RainCountryHomestead Yep...I ditched all of that years ago! I was using your hair care method with the vinegar and Dr. Jacobs for about a month. Then when things got crazy here with my mom and all, I went back to using the Love Your Curls products that my son still uses. I'll be going back to your method soon.

@@dfreak01 Yep...my never lasted long either...unless it was extremely dry out. But it still poofed out on me regardless. Took me a long time to just accept my curls and let my hair do it's own thing!

Not sure if this is the proper place for this comment, but while on the topic of money...I'd like to mention alternate forms of currencies. As many know, precious metals like gold and silver (and copper to a certain extent) are not only good for medicinal uses, but also as a means of purchasing goods if the dollar or other paper currency ever goes out of circulation.
@RainCountryHomestead

Yes, for us the main reasons we have silver is for making a certain substance I am not allowed to talk about any longer on this platform and it gets used often for many things. And yes, I understand the value of investing in precious metals but for us we are more focused on putting our investments into other tangible assets such as land, heavy equipment for working our land or using to the work thereof to barter for things we need, any other thing that helps to build up our self sufficiency and skills.

I'm not the best with money (personally, I think I suck with budgeting lol). I don't think applies to most the people that watch your channel, but there is a huge societal push to live the "influencer lifestyle", the Starbucks for breakfast and snack, the fine dining, the expensive trips across seas, the name brands in fashion, the most expensive cars, etc. I don't even know anyone who ~just~ spends excess money at a salon for hair once a month anymore. And it's sad because people, especially younger generations, think they "need" that stuff to fit in yet they constantly complain how broke they are. It's almost like they can't tell that what they're wasting money on is a great deal of why they can't afford groceries or rent.
@RainCountryHomestead
@RainCountryHomestead Ай бұрын
And most would not realize just how fake those influencers lives are. They beg companies and even small business for free meals, free products, and more while taking staged shots that make it appear they are on private jets or going to exotic places when it is all a lie
