Hey guys, I was thinking since skiing season is coming up I wanted to make some ski videos, so here is an interesting talking point. How I choose my ski lengths as compaired to their length and if I'm planning to use them as inbounds skis vs. out of bounds skis.

Hey Ryan, thanks. Great info. Your analysis helps me but could you please clarify your height? In think maybe you misspoke when telling us your height. You said you were 5'-9 1/2"ish but then you said you were 173cm but 173cm = 5'-8". Please clarify. (174cm = 5'-8 1/2". 175cm = 5'-9". 176cm = 5'-9 1/4". 177cm = 5'-9 1/2". 178cm = 5'- 10").

Great video, love your channel! What are your thoughts on the CAST Freetour? And if I’m already an advanced skier and looking at getting into guiding, how do I start climbing?

I don't have a cast system, but I really want one! It's super cool for sure, the main thing I think about with that binding is I don't really have a great pair of skis for it yet. I mainly have lightweight touring skis and heavy skis that already have alpine bindings on them. I think when I do decide to get the Cast free tour then I would pair them up with a heavy ski, since it's more about skiing really hard in the backcountry. I think they would be a good fit with something like the Volkl Blaze or WNDR reason, that set up with a heavy boot would be super fun! It's not a daily driver because of the weight but when you want to straight-line a couloir then it would be awesome! As far as getting into guiding, since skiing is your main thing I would try to see what you can do to start working on ski guiding. If you want to get into rock guiding then you need to get a baseline with your personal climbing (same as skiing.) The easiest way to do this is to get a membership to your local climbing gym and work yourself up to a decent level of climbing ability- probably around climbing higher 10's and lower 11's in the gym. Then you have enough baseline fitness to take it outside and gain some experience on single pitch routes. That's a good start, if you want more advise DM on my insta @rtillson_ and we can talk more.
