Too much work. With my cat I pretty much just had to go pat her whenever she demanded pattings, wash her ceramic soup bowls she eats out of once a week (30 seconds) and wash her trays whenever she feels like.

Omg the mouse shimmying up the pole. Died of cuteness. Beautiful cage set up. The thing about setups like this, that ppl don't realize is, it is really enjoyable to clean and rearrange. And so worth the effort to watch your babies thrive in an environment you have provided

I'm contemplating this type of a cage next, my current single male mouse has a traditional wire cage with tube tunnels. But I love the look of the glass tank/terrarium and they are more roomy usually too. But I dreaded the cleaning! I didn't know it could be this easy. I'm just used to removing the top part of the current wire cage and washing both parts directly under tap. But once you showed us how easily a terrarium can be cleaned, I think I'm going for it! Thank you!

Watching your video gave me the knowledge to help out my temporary visitor(mouse) and supply him a better habitat for the winter. Unsure if I'll be releasing him back to the wild(found him in my toilet after knowing about his presence in my house) or if ill extend his habitat and give him some friends. More research is required to finalize that decision but I'm grateful for your information and videos

Our cat brought us 3 baby mice. 🤦‍♀️ we tried to locate the nest but we can’t find it. So now I’m currently taking care of mice that appear to be about 2-3 weeks old. One is much smaller than the other two and is the only one really interested in kitten formula. They have all started nibbling on oats and it looks like they can drink from the bowl. We bought food and set it in the cage but no one has touched it yet. The smallest one drinks the least if at all from the bowl. She’s also the friendliest and wants to be held as soon as she sees the hand come down. I think the other two might be male. Anyway, now that we have them, we are hooked and plan to keep mice as soon as these ones are grown enough to release. I’m a bit nervous about keeping wild mice, except the smallest of the three is so friendly it will be hard to let her go. I just want to say thank you for your videos. I had no idea how awesome mice could be.

Just a quick question - I live in Nottingham in the UK and have only ever come across mice in a small pet shop which I wouldn’t purchase them from so where could I find mice needing homes where I live? I don’t think they’re very popular in the UK but obviously you managed to get some gorgeous ones! Also - do mice do well with sand baths or are they something that they don’t need / use? I have gerbils who love sand! Great video :)

Just curious if you have any tips on helping the fighting settle down? I also remember you saying when you got three more the group dynamic was much better- could adding more be something that could settle them down?

I spray the wooden items with the 50/50 water vinegar spray. And then I’ll fill up the bath with hot water to let them soak for an hour. Emiology - I can't take care of them anymore. My dad hates them and treats them horribly. They have to stay in the garage and we have no room in my house, and I want to give them much happier lives and homes. I am keeping 2, both father and son. Thank you for responding, although!

@@sqyie If theres certain reasons such as smell etc that makes your dad treat them badly, i suggest holding off on getting mice because it will be a similar problem and its not fair on the mice. Its completely up to you what type of cage you do though, you can use a reptile tank, the more crowded the better when it comes to things in the cage it makes them feel secure, and you want a good thick layer of bedding a few inches deep :)

Hiya! I've done all my research on mice, but there's one thing that always has me questioned, and there's nothing that confirms my question. Can you use disinfectant by itself to clean out your mouse's enclosure? It would be great if someone could answer this for me! Thank you😁⚘⚘

Arctic Fox Ah alright so i don’t have mice, i have rats, but my answer is yes and no. You can use disinfectant, but try to get the most natural and unscented stuff you can. Many stores also sell pet safe disinfectant specifically for this purpose.

I just got 2 boys I thought I saw something about not using glass containers/aquariums? Because I wanted to get mine something like this would it be ok for them ?
@sleepylark
@sleepylark 2 жыл бұрын
Male mice are aggressive to eachother, I think you're thinking of rats? Rats you can't keep in a glass container like this because the ammonia build up can kill them. Mice you can.

I notice you only have 2 wheels for 8 mice. Does that cause any problems?
@Emiology
@Emiology 5 жыл бұрын
No it doesn’t 🙂 if I saw any issues I’d add a third wheel but they don’t tend to use them much. They prefer running and climbing around the cage and if I packed it full of wheels I wouldn’t be able to add much else in

Just search for “Ikea detolf” ☺️ it will have the dimensions on the website for you. Personally I wouldn’t put more than 8 mice in here, two would be fine as long as they’re confident and it’s full of things for them to hide in

I have an ikea detolf and am considering getting mice. There is a breeder near me who I have vetted and checked out and will probably be buying from her. I have researched about mice and the only thing I am wondering is how mice many to get. Does anyone have any suggestions?
@Emiology
@Emiology 4 жыл бұрын
I recommend a minimum of 3. Start with three and add more later on when they’re older so they don’t start passing at the same time
