We do call them QTips here in America, but their common name is Cotton tipped swabs. My wife had granular tissue around her G/J tube too. Yours truly cleaned it too. Her tube had about 10 inches (25 cm) beyond her skin. It had to be flushed at least twice daily and every other day site cleaning.

Good on you, Amy! Hoping that you and so many battling chronic diseases will be able to get the medical care and medical products essential to you. Here in New York State, not near NYC, we have COVID in our area, and so many shelves have been cleared bare repeatedly by selfish panic buyers. There really isn’t a lack of production of many goods, yet it’s like striking gold to find one package of toilet paper! The absence of medicines and medical supplies is a frightening part of this tragedy across the world. Thanks for speaking up! Good people across the world are speaking up. Hoping the rational voices are heard. Thinking of you a lot, hoping you’ll stay safe and stable. Happy your house is nearly done! Watch shows that give you a laugh! You two are terrific! ✨💖💙✨

New viewer with a noobie question: If you go to such great lengths to keep ur tube hole clean, how do you shower? Is it: do normal clean and cover it like you would a broken arm or leg.. Or: just shower and do normal clean after? Also, sorry if this has been addressed.. but I'm interested in learning about basic stuff we take for granted vs. someone with alot of physical ailments..🖤 much love from cali

Its nice to see you again. My health has been horrible for awhile too. I hope that you are on the mend now. I hate granulation tissue! I never used to get it when I had a normal white feeding tube. But since Im allergic to those, I just have a red catheter & now I deal with gt constantly. I have been going in every week to have it burned off. I don't know how to stop it. Im thinking its because my tube is only held in by tape, so its moving a lot. Im allergic to the stitches as well. Im so tired of the pain from having it burned off. I keep it clean & as dry as possible. Its just so frustrating! Take care!
@deniz_dee4 жыл бұрын
Granulation tissue is actually your immune system trying to protect you. It detects something foreign, tries to fight it off, but when you have something permanent like a tube there, it decides to encapsulate it instead so it doesn't spread. It's a defense used against some microbes (tuberculosis is one I think, but I'm not sure) that can't be killed off too, not just big objects. I learned about it in immunology class and it kinda changed my understanding of it.

Yes, most Americans do call it a Q-tip. Q-tip is actually a brand name for the cotton swab, but everybody calls them Q-tips. Kind of like how people call facial tissue "Kleenex" which is a brand name. But thank you for the update, I feel bad that I didn't notice it sooner. The last two days have been horrible for me, I couldn't get out of bed at all yesterday because of my multiple sclerosis. And the fact that I've got a cold or something that gave me a low-grade fever. 99.1°f (37.27°c)

Hiya, sorry for commenting again on the same video and also on a video with a non-related topic but I don't know if you read comments to your older videos... Aaanyway, I was wondering if when you speak of seizures that you have you always mean epileptic seizures (and if yes, it sounds like you would be describing grand-mal seizures with loss of consciousness) or always mean an attack of your hypokalemic paralysis or if you use the word to describe both. I'm from a medical background myself, but not exactly an EDS specialist; you're motivating me to educate myself more on that topic. From the little I've found on this, I have only read that EDS is associated with some anatomical "abnormalities" in the brain (cortical heterotopia) that can cause focal epileptic seizures. I know that focal seizures can become generalized and thus also lead to loss of consciousness, just your descriptions of your seizures didn't sound that way. Sorry for the very long message and sorry if you explained this somewhere, I haven't watched every single one of your videos yet, but I'm working on it :) Thanks so much for all the wonderful education and entertainment and love you spread!
