Battling cancer and multiple autoimmune diseases has left me being frequently admitted to the hospital so I always carry a bag with me since I never know when it's going to happen. I have comfy leggings, tank tops, a light robe (I cant stand hospital gowns, Im almost always able to wear my own clothes) also I have comfy non slip socks , and slippers. If I'm home beforehand, I take my favorite pillow and blanket (or my family brings it for me). I have my own hygiene products for showers, etc. I have a book to read, my Kindle Fire tablet, ear buds, smart phone (chargers are important), a pack of playing cards, my journal, pens, a couple cute hats/scarves to keep my bald head warm, and latest medication list, appointment schedules, etc. I feel a lot of comfort knowing I have everything I need with me. Although last weekend, I slept most of the three days I was admitted and didnt do a lot of reading or watching anything. I am praying for you Amy. I pray that your recovery goes as smoothly as possible, and please dont worry about posting, take care of yourself first. Blessings Be 💕

I just wanted to tell you I'm glad I found your channel. I've been really with chronic illness my whole life, and it just keeps getting worse. I live in a rural area(USA), so my access to health care has been fairly limited until recently. And while I received a diagnosis of lupus 10 years ago, I've been feeling like I was missing a huge piece of the puzzle. Then I found you! My physical therapists have brought up EDS several times over the years, but instead of talking to a Dr, or referring me, they just call me loosey goosey and process me through as quickly as possible(except my last OT, she's cool). Because of your videos and how I see all your symptoms fit together, I'm pushing for better diagnosis and treatment. I love watching how you've come through even the hard stuff with a smile on your face(when realistic), and a sparkle in your eye. It makes me feel horrible for how I'm living now(nothing ever gets done because I always feel horrid), but it also gives me hope that I'll be able to get the right treatment to help with my problems!

I always like to have my own tea. I enjoy a lot of teas aside from plain old black tea (which is all the hospitals have in my area) and I even sometimes like to just smell the tea bags that are for nausea when I'm particularly nauseous. I also like to take my own chicken broth as I don't like the kind the hospital has. Melatonin, I use a specific dissolvable type. My Roku, the hospitals in my area have TVs, so it's nice to plug in and stream. My salt lamp for comfort/night light. Crossword puzzle & word search books. Warmies stuffed animals which were gifted to me in the hospital. They smell have lavendar in them and can be warmed up. Slippers. Body hygiene wipes in case I want to freshen up and am too sick to shower. Something I wish I'd had is an eye mask for sleeping for when the nurses come in and need the light on.

I always take a hair tie or hair clip to keep my hair out of my eyes, long t-shirt style pajamas for comfort and ease of wear, warm fluffy socks, a book or two, downloaded podcasts on my phone, warm blanket, slippers or shoes I can just slip on, headphones, chargers, toiletries, eye drops because my eyes dry out more easily, regular meds and supplies (especially catheters because I’m allergic to latex and most hospitals only seem to have latex ones), small foldable tv tray because the table the hospital has never fits properly around the bed itself, baby wipes to keep myself feeling fresh until I can take a bath, (I don’t like strangers trying to give me a bath) and a little teddy bear my cousin made for me years ago.

I hope you are well! You have been in my prayers! And to answer your question, I have never stayed the night in the hospital before, but if I were to go there, I would probably take some clothes/ pajamas (obviously), my laptop and phone, a blanket and pillow, my favorite stuffed animal, hygiene products, and maybe a snack or something. Once again, I really hope you are well and I think that you are so brave and such a strong person! I could never go what you have to go through, and the fact that you are so strong and optimistic despite having to go through so much is very admirable.

Between Mid Feb and May this year, I have had 3 surgeries. My essentials included throat lozenges, for the day 1-3 super sore throat from the intubation tube, lip balm as my lips get super dry and crack while under anaesthetic, and a drink cup with lid and hard straw, so I can tip the cup toward me without lifting my body up and twisting or straining the surgery site, or spilling.

I love my hospital bag cause it's usually packed or at least know exactly where everything is that I take; such as 1 pair of PJ's, change of pants if it's a cold season and other personal clothing (I can't change my top when it's a scheduled stay cause I'm hooked to a EEG machine for a week). I would pack my bathroom bag, dressing gown, iPad, chargers, the meds I take (even though they take them away and don't use them), book, and now my weighted blanket. But if it's an ED admission it's essentially the same just I tell my mum what to bring and what bag cause she sometimes packs clothes I'm not allowed to wear cause they make my wear a gown incase of CT's and MRI's. I have no idea what you go through cause I have epilepsy that is kind of out of control at the moment but I do wish you all the best with future visits xx

It's fascinating to me to see regular clothes being packed for a hospital stay. Typically here, in Oregon USA, I only see people in those ugly hospital gowns if they've been admitted. I was in the hospital for 2 weeks back in April and had to stay in the gowns the whole time. I had to have emergency surgery while I was there and they were able to take me right down without me having to change clothes. I think that's probably why it's done. Anyway... This is a random babble, sorry haha.

Hope recovery is going well! I really just bring phone, laptop, iPad, chargers, neck pillow(s) that I use both day and night, some undies and one change of clothes to wear as I go back home if I can’t or don’t want to wear the same clothes I went in with. Earphones is another must of course... Funnily enough, last time I was in hospital, which is almost 6 years ago now (hysterectomy) I only really used my phone and didn’t take my laptop out of the bag even. I was using my phone for social media and other than that just rested and watched tv and tried to do some crosswords as I did bring a crossword magazine too. Hygiene wise I only bring toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush and maybe shampoo and shower gel, though here at least they do have the latter in the hospital so I only really bring it to use my own, especially with shampoo as my hair can be a bit picky and becomes a mess if I use a brand or type that it doesn’t like. I really try to bring as little as possible if going to hospital, while admitted I tend to stay in the hospital clothes as they’re very comfy here both for day and night. More like a very soft and comfy button up nightshirt rather than a gown, and there’s also button up T-shirts and very soft and comfy sweatpants so I just don’t see a reason to pack a ton of my own clothes when I can just be all comfy in the hospital clothes while admitted. I don’t bring much creams and lotions and such as I don’t use it much to begin with, and I definitely don’t bring makeup as I hardly ever use it at home even (only really on special occasions) but a lip balm is always good to bring so I tend to have that at least. Medicine wise I bring my patches, the Tegaderm to cover the patch and I bring my asthma inhaler(s). I know that with things like post op pain it’s better to just let the hospital deal with that so I don’t bring my as needed painkillers as those are of better use at home so I don’t have to renew my prescription as soon, it is the hospitals duty to deal with pain management post op anyways so that’s not something I should have to use my normal medicines for. I also don’t bring things like Imodium or stool softeners or what have you as that’s another thing that the hospital may want to keep track on if and how much a patient has needed it, so then it’s better to have it provided by the hospital so it gets registered properly.

I’m 22 and I have quite a few chronic illnesses (none as severe as yours however). I have stage 4 hypertension that runs normally at 160/100 (normal is around 120/60) and chronic tachycardia where my heart rate regular rests at about 140bpm (normal is 60-80bpm) which is a type of heart arrhythmia. These two things alone make me feel terrible when they’re high (I am on medicine though that keeps them within a safe range) and I get terrible sweats and migraines and I get super out of breath and feel like I’m gonna pass out. On top of that I have generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and depression, as well as being borderline agoraphobic (meaning I’m terrified to leave the house). Anyways I’m currently on two meds for my heart, 3 for my mental health and birth control. I have a pill organizer almost identical to yours that my grandma got me for free through their insurance and it helps me stay organized so much better! No more forgetting if I’ve taken my meds yet and as you can probably guess either missing or doubling up on heart meds is really terrible so it’s important I remember when I’ve taken something and how much I’ve taken!

Whenever I’m admitted for one reason or another I make sure to always bring my chargers for things, my iPod, and my wallet as well as either a Blu-ray player and stuff to watch with it or a Roku (or both if I remember) to pass the time since my admissions are usually on the longer side. Honestly half the time I forget my phone though and I have to have someone go to my house and get it 😅 I’m actually in the hospital right now funny enough, although the length of time I’ve been here is kinda extreme. I was at one hospital for about 10 months and then I was transferred to where I am now so all in all I have been a admitted about a year and a half straight now. Hopefully I’ll get to go home soon, but there’s always something that comes up it seems. Best of luck to you on your road to recovery 🙂

I always have a small backpack with essentials ready when I go to every appointment, since I just never know when my dr will send me to the ER or to be admitted. Spoonie life, am I right? 🤦🏻♀️ Lol I use all of my extra/unused lab draw bags & the bags that all of my home health care iv supplies/meds are mailed in. So nice to use for packing meds into or flushes/etc. Yay for repurposing, love that! 🤗 Such a smart thing to share about packing your meds. Prior to being sick or having surgery I wouldn’t have even thought to pack my usual daily meds. I’ve ran into situations where the hospital pharmacy didn’t have a med that I take on hand, which is no fun! My husband had to make the long drive home to go pick it up. Or the hospital would order it in, which can take days. Thank Thanks again for sharing your life & always keeping it real. I also post chronic illness vlogs & uploads of life with my hubby and son! Lip balm or lip Vaseline is a must, especially when fasting and or limited to fluids after surgery. I have just past surgery number 48. I've given up taking make-up into hospital. In most cases I never use everything I pack. Taking your own pillow and a soft, light, throw rug is a must. I have given up taking casual, lounging clothes in with me. I always end up staying in my sleepwear. Did you include a travel hair dryer? I usually stay in a hospital gown until I have my first shower. Especially when it comes to drains and catheter.

I like this kind of videos, I have had two surgerys but I never brought many things because I stayed for hours in one and in the other just one night. You look very pretty in these two last videos, I love your highlight. I really like your style, your clothes and makeup, I know that people want to see medical videos but I hope someday you can make more fashion videos. I would love clothing hauls, makeup tutorials and if you can a house, room and closet tour, and if Tom agrees you could do a boyfriend tag? I would like to know your story, how you two met, first dates and how you told him about your chronic illnesess and his reaction, etc. I hope you’re doing better, you’re one of my favorites youtubers but I can wait all the time you need, the most important thing is your recovery, so be patient that we are not going anywhere. A big hug 🤗. PS: I loved your new headers? on both of your channels (I don’t know if it’s called like that on youtube hahaha)

Hiya hun, so glad I’m not the only person who does this i keep one packed behind the sofa because i spend a lot of time in hospital and recently changed it from winter pyjamas to summer pyjamas and stuff. I can trust hubby to do it but would rather do it myself so less stressful for him as he works and cares for me and easier just to grab. x

Natalie Saxon hi love Because I am blind It’s just easier to let hubby do it I usually know what’s in there But brain Farty today lol If I didn’t have one packed It’s 3 to 4 hours to hospital So a must I hold your doing ok at present Love and blessings ❤️

Cath Coll omg hun I’m so sorry didn’t know your blind wasn’t being rude sorry. Yeah it is easier especially when your in so much pain feeling drained and not yourself. I usually get hubby to help me pack mine and then as I use things if I need more he brings it into me. I’m not doing great but plodding along, Hope ur okay. x

I am happy that you are home from the hospital. I hope you recovery is fast and not to painful... Also what kind of drainage bags do you use. I have been trying to get some but my home health company sucks and don't know what I'm talking about unless I have the manufacturer's and the item number...

Your health, happiness n rest is all that matters!! Lotion, tooth brush/toothpaste, baby wipes, hand sanitizer, yes definitely extra meds, cash for vending machines, extra clothes, bottled water bc it seems like there's never enough! Cough drops bc the air in hospitals is always so dry!!😁😘

Whenever i go for my ivig transfusions its in a outpatient day clinic i usually take my laptop, laptop charger, DVD holder that has all my movies and tv shows, DVDs in their actual case since my dvd holder is full i have the first 2 seasons of House md and all three seasons of chicago med i also take my extension cord and some snacks since my ivig transfusions last all day starting from early morning to early/late evening but mine usually take longer since i have to have a antihistamine half an hour before my transfusion starts because i'm allergic to ivig then they have to start with a low infusion rate and then build it up slowly till its at a normal infusion rate and then after the ivig transfusion i have to have a saline flush through my iv so any medicine thats might still be there gets flushed then i have to wait 15 minutes to half an hour with my iv still in but its disconnected from the iv line so its just the iv then the nurse takes the iv out does a final set of obs and if their ok i can go home
