I can't think of a better way to start off my weekend Rob with a follow up to your last video. So much work goes into putting a song together. With all the drum and bass fill's and how you have to change the tempo of the song. When you followed on in the start of this with a chorus line. More words came together for me. My chorus to this is. As I'm breathing in, I'm breathing out. It clears my mind. Please set me free, please set me free.

You're the man Rob, thanks again for sharing your methods... I'd love to request a video, I imagine some other people would be into this too?? I've been playing for around 15 years now and I've written but never recorded. Is there any chance you could do a video explaining where to start? I.E, essential components on your computer, audio interface, DAW's etc? Basically, a beginner's guide on what to buy and how to get started from the ground up... Thanks for everything man, we appreciate you!!

I think the biggest take away for me from this video is that you have a really good ear! Not just for riffs, but for what makes a good song, and how all the instruments intertwine and play to their strengths without getting in the way of each other and leaving room for vocals! And I was actually impressed by the vocals, they flowed well, and there were some good melodies on there! Some else mentioned this, but it would be interesting to see Mark's approach to doing vocals on a song like this!

First off, I absolutely love this format. Don’t mind at all how long it was. I’m getting into recording more and more (just my own stuff for fun) and seeing you actually use your DAW was so helpful. On that note, I think more videos on the production side would be awesome. I absolutely love your guitar and songwriting content (keep that coming) but I know you’ve had a studio and been producing for awhile too, so it’d be awesome to see tips and tricks on that side as well. Examples that come to mind - Mixing and Mastering 101, any plug ins for guitar or drums that you like (whether it’s just for demos or final production, etc.).

Dude, you've taken on a herculean task. Mad props for actually turning this into a properly structured lesson. Most people would assume teaching this skill is easy. It's far from it. Thanks for all the time you invest in passing on your knowledge as a successful metal artist. You've given me affirmation, unintentionally, to see that my process is very similar to this when I write guitars on my own. I'm glad to see my process is similar to how an amazing song writer does it. What I struggle with, is writing drum patterns, not being a drummer myself! Something I need to work on. The learning should never end! Cheers 🍻
@RobArnoldWorld
@RobArnoldWorld 9 ай бұрын
Cheers bro! And all of that is music to my ears! 👊 Yeah I think that having a sense of drumming in general, is essential to writing beats note by note for your music. But there is an alternative! And that's using drum loops that come preprogrammed with every drum virtual instrument. Plus, you can purchase separate packs of premade loops that you can use with any drum VI. Perhaps you're already utilizing this in your own productions... But for those who weren't aware, this is the solution!
@theogre2004
@theogre2004 9 ай бұрын
I do indeed! Just another affirmation I'm doing things properly for the most part. I should've clarified that once I've actually developed a good base riff for a song with the loops from EZDrummer or whatever VSTi a guitarist prefers, I always feel like I'm being lazy if I don't create an "original" beat for my tune loosely based off of the loop I've chosen. Coming up with variations on the loop to turn it into an original piece of music is where I'm lacking. It's certainly an ego problem, haha. But I like to lie to myself and say I'm showing integrity 😆. Cheers man! 🍻 Thanks again!

Right on Markus! Yeah man... it's OK to take your time with this stuff. It's more about getting good results in my opinion, vs. doing things super quickly. Speed comes with practice and experience. But capturing great performances is more important than doing things quickly. So take as long as you need to get things sounding good!

Thank you so much for this rob! alot of great stuff here. These are gold! Hey Rob, I've noticed on other vids there's a thanks button. I'm not a patreon member, yet. Got a lot going on with family, new dog, life is pretty busy and money is tight but I wouldn't mind shooting off a few bucks to you, you know, as a thanks!
@RobArnoldWorld
@RobArnoldWorld 2 жыл бұрын
I really appreciate you thinking of me with that gesture Nate! That thanks button is a new feature, that KZbin is currently trying out with certain channels. They haven't told us what the criteria for access to that is, but simply that it will become available to all creators sometime this year. So I'm definitely waiting for notification that I can enable it! Soon as I can, I will! And I totally understand money being tight bro. If you ever decide that you're in the position to hop on board with my Patreon campaign, I'll of course welcome you with open arms! But in the meantime, I still appreciate the support you show by watching and interacting! Cheers bro!👊

Thanks for all you do for us Rob! I got a question. How do YOU get passed writer's block, that is, if you get that. I have a decent intro, and 2 riffs afterwards, but thats where I cant seem to get the tune to go anywhere. It's frustrating!
@RobArnoldWorld
@RobArnoldWorld 2 жыл бұрын
Maybe try this.... Take one of your favorite songs from your favorite band, and grab a pen and paper. Study and analyze the song, and write down what's happening. How does the structure go? How many verses? How many chorus's? What's the feel and vibe like? What's the mood like? How does it change? What parts excite you and why? Break down the sounds that you like best, and note why you like them. After you've taken all these notes and deconstructed the song, try and recreate it in some form, with your own riffs. Perhaps having a little road map in front of you will help you complete your ideas, and get your songs finished. Give it a try bro!

@@woochyna So last night I went to look at the fuse, because many dudes said to check that first. But the fuse location is not apparent. There's a back plate I can unscrew to get behind, but there's a sticker on there that says there are no user serviceable parts. I can't find ANYTHING helpful online regarding the G1600XL. Any ideas? Is the fuse location obvious on your head?
@woochyna
@woochyna 2 жыл бұрын
@@RobArnoldWorld Oh man, that head needs to be disassembled to access the PCB and check what's wrong. Never did this with mine as I sold it in working condition. Opened a couple of different transistor amps though and can tell they all have a couple of fuses on the inside. That said, if a fuse is dead, that means there is a component or a whole part of the circuit that went bad and changing the fuse won't necessarily solve the problem. Good thing is that old transistor amps have through hole PCBs so individual components can be checked and replaced, bad thing is that there aren't many repairmen qualified and WILLING to check those kind of amps as their circuits are a bit more complex than those found in tube amps. This particular case can literally be anything, transformer included.
