Love this! I added a bit of height to one of the brush strokes layers and the edge detect layer and it makes it look even more like paint strokes (closer to oils than the gouache of Studio Ghibli, but I'm going for kinda of a hand painted Little Nightmares feel and the chunky paint looks GREAT!) Thanks for a great tutorial!

@StylizedStation3 жыл бұрын
Yeah you're right I mean procedural :) glad you like it! Doing a wood tutorial later this week
@ralusek3 жыл бұрын
You seem to say "PBR" when you mean "non-destructive." Doesn't PBR just refer to the fact that the texture will use a specific set of maps to produce the material (i.e. color, normal map, roughness, metallic). PBR has to do with rendering and the maps that go into producing the material that will be rendered, but doesn't seem to imply "non-destructive" in any way.
@katanalevygames2 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same thing. I think they mean procedural or non-destructive rather than PBR.
@whisperess2 жыл бұрын
Yes, PBR means "Physically Based Rendering" and has nothing to do with it being non-destructive

can this still be done with the steam version of substance?
@Pendarrik Жыл бұрын
Great video. Nice workflow for quick application of that art style. Small note: you keep mentioning the material being PBR as to how you can go back and change things later. It’s the fact it’s procedural that allows you to do this. Given your just using the Albedo in an unlit scene this isn’t actually a PBR material as that’s to do with how it’s being rendered.

I actually found the blur slope by accident when I was messing around with the trial version and trying to figure out why blur didn't properly cross UV seams. Didn't fix my problem, but I was able to make some painterly textures! Still not 100% sure what it has to do with slopes or blurring, but it's basically just a magic brush stroke generator. One thing I didn't figure out was how to make it behave consistently across objects of different scales, since it seems to be tied to UV coordinates, not world coordinates.
