It's amazing how addictive smartphones are. The other day I forgot mine at home and it drove me nuts. We've become a society where attention deficit disorder has become a learned behavior and not just an issue some people are born with. Great video. 👍

Very cool video. The intro is beautifully made and it's always great to see your videos. I realize you put a lot of energy into your video. Sometimes I also notice that the phone distracts me too much from life. Then I turn it off for a few days to get my head free. Your tip with the second phone is great. Keep doing so. You're a great guy I like to see on YT or Insta. Greetings from Germany.

Really useful content artfully presented. I liked the ratio of the 'simply talking to camera feel' versus 'high end production feel'. Made things interesting without at all getting in the way of your message. This idea is a great way to avoid having to rely on willpower (like that ever works). Most helpful. Thanks.

@@jeffreybuoncristiano Honestly, I've found that most people don't care. They've been a slave to the social media madness for so long, it's hard for them to imagine a life without being constantly. connected. For me, the two phone lifestyle was a game changer. I don't miss all the extra crap being on my new phone. Just the basics. A very slimmed down contract list. Google. KZbin. Calculator. Maps. Calendar. Clock. I've gotten to the point now where I barely even turn on my old phone. It's been very freeing. Very liberating.

Very nice video. I don't think I could go with a "dumb" phone because there are certain features that i need for work or they make certain challenges alot easier. However, having a "dumb downed" phone does feel more freeing and aware of my surroundings.

When the Buons go in for a smooch, I lost it... too funny man! I really like this idea and think it will help a lot of people. I had the benefit/misfortune, however you want to look at it, of getting addicted to 'electronics' before the world did. Mainly computer games in the late 90s/early 2000s, and more for research/music/social media as the years went on. I've always equated being 'plugged in' to being at home on my desktop, so whenever I leave the house, phone or not, I'm unplugged. Other than mobility I feel like a lot of functionality is lost actually and can be done more effectively or efficiently on a PC, though not as convenient. Going out in the world today though, I see it everywhere.. computer addicted people with an attention deficit due to part of their mind being focused on their phone as it feeds them easily digestible "information" and entertainment. I see me.

Nice video, and cool technique. I'll keep that in mind; I currently only have one phone, and am not trapped by social media (see below). I use a different method, kind of along the lines of the "Deep Work" principles. Are you familiar with the general message of that book? My method is, for example, I allow myself a certain amount of time (for example 15 minutes), to check my email and do all my email responses, write youtube comments, etc. I put a timer on. Once that timer is up, I'm done for the day and don't go back until the next day. I apply this to many things, not just internet stuff. Works great. Same for Instagram. Twice per week, 20 minutes each, once timer goes off, I get off Instagram (most of my time is spent responding to direct messages anyway).
@jeffreybuoncristiano5 жыл бұрын
I do. But I know myself and it drains me to "limit" myself. Where this method works for me because I'm removing the option not based on decision and discipline. I can't fail with my method.

just delete social media from your phone. You can still get online on a computer. And getting a apple watch also means that you can use apple pay with the watch. Its not perfect but it can reduce the phone time and addictive twitching/surfing ALOT

It’s funny you said standing in a line everyone would look at their phone because honestly ppl don’t know how to anymore they feel awkward more so then fake phone use. I have kids so I don’t always have my phone and whenever I’m standing around waiting those with phones look at me like is their something wrong with you. 😂🤦🏼♀️

@jeffreybuoncristiano5 жыл бұрын
You might have missed the point. The point is there is nothing wrong with using a phone, there is something wrong with using it too much... Hence the whole video is about how not to and using compartmentalization to fix that.

The Buon Life no i get it most of us have this problem these days evsn senior citizens are slaves to their phones its actuallt pretty scary and sad and its a wasted life. Good vid .we all need to break away from this technology it makes us less human if anything. I think it will only get worse. Just wait till 5g is here. Transhumanism is the ultimate goal.I just hit 40 I figure ill be dead before the world gets too too crazy.

Yeah I got so sick of wasting hours every day on my phone, more specifically wasting time on various social media’s. I got rid of my Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat, and I swear to you my days seemed longer. Instead of filling my ‘wait time’ with nonsense, I instead would just appreciate being where I was at that moment in time. When I did have free time, and where it was acceptable to be on my phone, I instead started playing chess instead of swiping through Instagram, or started watching videos that actually taught you something. It’s incredible how much you can learn by just not going on social media... it’s such a waste of time and energy. To be honest I like this idea of a second phone. My current phone is a 5 or 6 year old iPhone 6, and is just becoming more and more unusable. So when it’s time, I might just adopt this two phone thing, as unminimalist as it seems, it’s actually more conducive to a minimalist lifestyle if you don’t want to ignore your friends/family and still want google maps lmao. Thanks for the video man, glad you’re still making content, been a long time subscriber since the early beardbrand days
