I'm a guy with long hair and currently living in Kenya and I didn't trust anyone here to cut my hair so it's just been growing and growing and getting super annoying. I just did step 1 for the overall length (which was almost down to my waist at this point) and am thrilled. My scissors weren't as sharp as I hoped and ended up having to finish it with my sewing shears so I'm going to wait until I get a new pair to do the crown and bangs and tidy up the little point cutting I was able to do. I love the "double hair tie" technique as I can't cut even close to a straight line to save my life and it was very satisfying to pull away the wee ponytail of dead ends. HA! And I am soooooooo envious of your thick, lovely mane. I have what can only be described as super thin, super straight, super fine baby hair. My whole head of locks is seriously just a tiny fraction of your bangs. I'm really not kidding. Thanks for not only making hair cutting look easy but also to be just that easy, too.

Genius technique, I just cut 5" off length, gave myself long bangs, and cut layers. I used my cutting scissors, thinning shears and 3 rubber bands. Turned out great and it was FREE!!! 😘

Bumblebees Paradise do you mind telling how you cut your bangs.? I cut my own fringe a couple years ago and it was one of those “at first it’s cute but then later on you think wtf did I just do” type cuts lol I wanna cut them to where it’s known i have bangs but i Can still toss em to the side

I have thick hair and usually would get layers but anxiety and lockdown has meant a simple straight chop. You wouldn't believe how light my head feels after using your technique! Definitely will be doing this again. Thanks xx

I did this the other day (even tho I was very nervous) and it turned out great. I followed some advice I read elsewhere, and made my ponytail a little further back from my forehead so my front layer won't be as short. The layers aren't as dramatic this way, and that's what I wanted. I do need to improve my pointcutting skills but I guess that will come with a little more practice.

Having tortured my hair with colourants, strippers and colourants again, when I last went to the hairdressers at the start of December I was insistent that only a certain amount got cut off, but the new ends were still terribly dry and broken. Yesterday morning while washing my hair, half of the ends knotted up so badly that I ended up trying to untangle it and then basically breaking the knot off, resulting in much shorter hair on one side. Tonight I found your video and took the plunge... and it's come out perfectly. It was traumatic to cut, wondering if I was making a huge mistake, but that wasn't the case: the bad ends are gone, it feels so much more like actual hair again and the layers are fab. It's now about the same length as yours. I'm going to grow it longer again but try and not be so mean to it. Anyway, thank you for such a clear, helpful video! It was as effortless to do as you made it look, so thank you!

Tried this and it turned out perfectly! I have natural curly hair so I always cut mine while it's wet, it's so much easier that way. And if you have curly hair you should already know but just in case, cut it a little longer cuz when it's dry it shrinks. Other than that I did just how she showed and when it dried it was still perfect! I'll be doing myself all the time now because not only does it save money it also saves me coming home crying from a cut I can't stand, lol.

Does it need to be straighten first before doing so? I have wavy hair, is it okay to do as it is.

Kim Hyun Hee I recommend straightening first unless you’re hair is already straight :) That way, you get an even cut.
