20 minutes?? For research & ideation, 2D drawing, 3D design, test printing, product photos, documentation, publishing, and marketing? Wow that's impressive, man!

I guess I should have been more clear about that. I was referring to how long it took me to design it in CAD.

@kevbot. I thought you were pretty clear on your title to the video. As it says "designed", not what this person was mentioning researched, ideation, product photos, documentation, publishing, marketing. The design itself took 20min which I can see.

@@spider2021well, the designphase isn’t only the cad-part. everything that‘s happening to finalize the product is part of the designphase, so the title is simply wrong.

@rontz I guess that all depends on how you interpret the word "design". I wouldn't consider publishing, photos, marketing and documentation part of the "design" process, but that's just me.

@@spider2021 design has a pretty wide definition, of course, but if you‘re working at the product, it‘s in the designphase. That includes test-prints. Product photos and marketing etc are not included, as the product is finished before.

If you convert your image to .svg with one of the many online conversion tools, you can import it directly to Fusion 360 and extrude it for the original solid object instead of doing all the tracing work.

Thank you! I'll definitely make more videos like this if people enjoy them. To answer your questions: how I brainstorm ideas is quite hard to describe. I mainly just look at lots of other popular models and see if I can combine ideas, create something similar, or add/ improve a design. It's a lot of connecting the dots based on what people have already shown they like to download. Hopefully, that makes some sense. I might make a video about this in the future. Also, I don't have a degree in engineering; I'm strictly self-taught. Thanks again for watching!

Hey man, As a designer who make logos & graphics for 15 years like the one you used, It's just sad to see you used it for your profit without the designers/illustrators permission, I understand that you just do the same thing like any other seller, but it is wrong and cannot be justified just because other people did it too. Your own design is not too bad, you just need to refine it little by little and you will get there eventually, it's just like what other designer experience it, they don't always come out great in first try. Maybe for you it's nothing, but my designs was stolen numerous times and i lost a lot of money because the thief sell them for very cheap price, even giving them out for free in a facebook group. At that time my son was sick and i was hustling here and there just to survive. They do it for almost two years and my income was barely covers groceries. i got depressed and almost commit to *%@! myself. Maybe you want to contemplate for one or two minutes before you execute, and remember small thing like that could be impactful for some people.
@kevbot.
@kevbot. Ай бұрын
I understand where you are coming from but like I said it was just a reference image. What I didn't show in the video was me modifying and making changes to the image in photoshop. The end result was different from the original. As for you getting your designs stolen, that is very unfortunate but I'm not sure how that pertains to me. Its not like I'm reselling the logo. I modified a 2d image for my needs and then turned it into a 3D model. Which I didn't even list for sale. You can download it for free, it just so happens that I was able to monetize it from Makerworld points. Lastly, I completely understand the hustle and I understand how much it takes just to survive nowadays. It not easy, I understand that but having a victim mentality is the worst thing you can do. Stay positive my friend, work hard and good things will come your way.

So basically you stole somebody's idea, then you stole somebody's crocodile design to make your product and you monetized it Borrowing ideas isn't bad on it self but combined with stealing art from random image found on google in my eyes makes this basically IP theft, yes you added a functionality to the design but without the original creator of that art permission i wouldnt say that this model belongs to you
@kevbot.
@kevbot. 3 ай бұрын
That's how most products are created, improving and innovating on other people's designs. The image was just a reference; I made changes in Photoshop and to the 3D model, of course. The 3D model is completely different from the original image. By your logic, lots of 3D modelers would be "stealing." Just look at all the Pokémon, Disney, cosplay, and Mario designs out there. Not to mention any other designs that use a reference image. (Which is a lot.) Very few models are truly unique; inspiration has to come from somewhere.

@@kevbot. The video gave an impression that you didn't change anything when it comes to the image and simply imported it to fusion also i dont agree, there's a big diference between tracing somebody's work and basically extruding it with minor changes and having a reference, the later involves creative changes to the design EDIT: if you have changed the og image then i obviously have no problem with the video, its just that the video gave me a wrong impression
