This is one of the best videos you've ever done! As a therapist, I often see people who have read a ton of self development books around productivity and have become burnt out because they are managing their time not their energy, and aren't living with intention and pursuing things they authentically value. I love how this video touches on all of this, but most importantly on managing our energy in a very practical way💡👏🏻

I like this approach of not being "efficient" with absolutely everything about your life. Life is meant to be lived at normal or even slower speed sometimes. Taking notes on the things you want to do is also a way to look back and see what sparked your interest in the past vs present. The reason why I like this concept is that it takes out the stress of taking yourself too seriously and feeling like if you say something you must do it because you are holding yourself accountable (for some unknown reason). Yes, I might really want to learn how to sing and it's something that would really make me happy, but not being able to execute it right away is not a source of depression and frustration. Thank you for this video Ali! I'm loving seeing the process of your book coming together :) PS: loved the money terminology

I created a "view" of my projects in Notion based on this method and I am SO inspired. This is exactly what I was searching for and you gave me the insight to give me the bird's eye view that I was needing. As someone with A LOT of information being used daily, I really appreciate this method/view. I see it being very fluid as a lot of projects are short lived, but that's exactly the point. Thank you!

Things that came to mind. Periodization from S&C research. Aim to functional overreach. Working memory chunk comment was an interesting coincidence but correlational at best. SMART goals are contextual and the framework is outdated, open goals I think would suit this context better. Recognition of energy expenditure - interoceptive awareness

Great video! Instead of "Completed" I like "ROI Achieved" and in each card I have a checklist of ROI items. That makes it unambiguous when something has gone from active -> passive -> benefit realized in my life. It also helps alert me to things that aren't actually tangibly beneficial--which I classify as anything I'd completely forget about and see no effect of after a year or two. For a trip, an ROI item might just be "did it" since it's inherently memorable, whereas for a skill one ROI item might be "makes day to day work easier and more impactful. Examples..." or "less stressed and sleep better by playing piano after work for 4 weeks"

I like this idea of managing energy instead of time, we somehow got programed to take on 10 tasks at once which drains out energy and makes us lose time and interest in those projects so we end up procrastinaing and beating ourselves cause we didn't have enough time, but the truth is we simply had too much on our plate which made us feel exhausted and overwhelmed. I also don't like this smart goals idea cause sometimes it doesn't work for everything, sometimes I just want to have a goal that I dont want to burden myself with making it time bound and very specific, the same goes for dividing your goal/task into chunks, by the time I do it, I'm already exhausted and somehow overwhelmed, yes I do plan some steps for it, but if it takes too much planning, it makes me lose interest energy and time and sometimes even not wanting to do it. So yeah I agree with this energy management instead of time management method, investing in your energy is investing in your time.
