I know that I’m really late to this video, but I have to say something! When I was growing up, I would visualize stories and music in my head, and would try to “see” what was happening. However, as I got older, I found less and less ways to find and recreate those stories in my head. I began to grow fond of DND podcasts, but nothing gave me what I yearned for in this kind of experience. And then I found Realms Apart, and all of MoMo’s wonderful contributions that really made this DND podcast special. Her audio paired with The Azrai’s visuals touched me in a way I honestly didn’t expect. So thank you MoMo, and thank you the rest of Realms Apart, for giving me something that helped me put some magic in my life! I began to turn to Realms Apart whenever I was in a dark place, and it really helps me! So thank you so so much, and keep up the great work!! :)

What you're explaining at the beginning about not being able to focus on the story with those kinds of podcasts, but wanting to picture it in your head like a movie is exactly why I love Realms Apart so much.Loved thee storyboards, but super understandable they were becoming way too much work, the decoration the Azrai did is also really nice.
@MultifandomMeg2day3 жыл бұрын
I absolutely love the shadow-puppets with Saillix's gorgeous art from the original episodes, but I'm so glad you found this awesome alternative with Az's moodlit set. The amount of work you were doing was that of a full animation team sans the ability to draw up the characters in new situations/outfits without commissioning a new piece of art EVERY SINGLE TIME. Between animators and/or art it would have been heinously expensive and I truly can't believe you managed to keep it up yourself this long. Kudos and congrats on creating a unique dnd podcast in both iterations. Love the show, you guys are all great!

THAT VIVALDI STORY WAS MY FAVORITE! I heard it on the radio once and no one else remembered it as I grew up! I think that's why Vivaldi's my favorite composer, actually...and I had the Magic Flute one on CD, with Beethoven Lives Upstairs as well! Oh man, I can't believe someone else knows what I'm talking about! And now I know where to find them! Thank you so much, Momo, for bringing a piece of my childhood back to me!
@madalenklare60253 жыл бұрын
Realms is truly a pleasure to listen to - all of you put so much love into your characters and the world you're creating and it really shows!!! So glad you were able to make it come to life; it takes so much passion to make the thing you want to see in the world, but when everything lines up it can feel so worth it! In terms of other pod recs, Rogue Runners is kind of a DnD pod / audio drama hybrid that takes place in the world of the game Hades (but you don't need to play the game to enjoy it, I don't and I still adore it) that has amazing sound design and voice acting! Might be some cool inspo for Realms, or just something to feed the Mythology Gremlin™ that lives in many of us hehe

i loved this video!! i was really curious about your editing process for the podcast! if you're looking for a podcast where the ambiance is there with sound effects and music, etc. i'd recommend rusty quill gaming! they play pathfinder rather than dnd, but i've only listened to some of their one shots in between episodes for their main campaign. their campaign actually just ended, but rusty quill has announced that they're developing a second podcast that is currently being referred to as rusty quill gaming 2.0 (which i assume will be changed). so if you want to listen to something with a lot of soundscaping i 100% recommend listening to some of their rqg one shots! my personal favorite so far is their space pals special where they play vast and starlit.

I really love having animatics for the first episodes, as I before, when listening to podcasts, have struggled a lot to separate peoples voices from each other or to know who the story evolves around currently if their names are not said repeatedly. So those helped me a lot to stick to the story long enough that I now know the characters from each other really well and I don't get confused, even without seeing art of them at the same time. And now I really enjoy the new edit of the episodes. I love that characters have their own theme songs (Maglos theme speaks to my soul and makes me cry of its beautifulness) and that how you edit the audio sometimes makes me shiver because it is so good and I just feel the vibe of the story so strongly thanks to that. It also makes me really happy to hear how all of you are involved in the podcast making in different roles and everybody is contributing.

OMG I have the classical kids cds and I listen to them sometimes on really long drives. the pre-animatic style reminds me a lot of Thrilling Intent! Their episodes are about 20ish minutes long of edited down game sessions but they keep in enough of their reactions to things happening that it keeps that friends at the table feeling imo.
