Thanks so much for another helpful video, Becky! I’m with you on saving space and money on lighting kits, when you have kiddos. My 6 yrs old broke my ring light within minutes (!) left unsupervised (after I told him not to mess with it)! 🤦🏼‍♀️🤯😂and I also downloaded so many free editing apps (including Snapseed), but never could figure out the fastest way to improve the photos quickly. Another suggestion for all resellers on a budget - is a daylight lamp bulbs (with 5000 K (Kelvins) and 1500 lumens at least) - $10 for 2 at Lowe’s 🤪😘👌🏻

I second those bulbs! I started selling part time in July and only have floor lamps right now. The daylight bulbs have been a game changer for me and has allowed me to put off purchasing a light kit!

Velvet, Definitely start with Posh 1st. Listing your item is half the time of any other platform & No guessing or worrying about calculated or fixed shipping rates. I worked backwards EBay to PM. Just list really high on Posh because its like a garage sale on crack! Posh 20% fees+ 10% discount+$1.68 shipping discount, low ball offers etc. If I can do it, anyone can do it! Just dive in & make that $ girl😍

Oh wow! I just tried the exposure part on my iphone and it helped tremendously. I'm super lazy when it comes to photo exposure. I do flatlays that I think turn out nice enough and then I'm done. Ha! Thanks for sharing. PS - You make me miss HS! Does UHS still have a tennis team?

becky, I live in Montana and soon I will have no daylight after my regular workday with which to take pictures, so I did purchase a ring light . I dont have a great location for taking my pictures as I have No white walls. I am using my entry way closet doors as my backdrop right now because they are at least an off white. The ring light at least will give me light during all the dark winter hours... as well as pic tap go for additional editing. absolutely dont have the space for big box light kits.

Deborah Schultz that’s perfect. My student photographer is in kind of the same boat-she uses her door and doesn’t get much natural light in her room. So I use google Snapseed to get rid of the handle in all her pictures and just even out the background 😂

This is a long shot that you are even looking at comments from the older videos given how insanely busy you are, but I thought I would try. I love, love, love this app. My pics are looking amazing. I would like to delete the older pictures, the pictures I have edited, and then sold the items. The app holds on to pictures and it's messy. Hi! 😊 As far as lighting kits go, I purchased one in January or February on amazon and it more than paid for what I invested within my very first couple posts, meaning all of the items I listed using my lighting kit sold sooo quickly and all sold out while my other items still sit for 6 months to a year! Lighting is everything, but ironically the lights I bought have had major issues!! There are two and they have extremely flimsy, lightweight stands and they have broken so many times. Also the connection between the cord and the bulb inside has broken. I have had my boyfriend fix them several times and right now I'm on massive burnout mode and havent been posting because I've been in a depression plus I have two sick family members so I've been a bit of a train wreck. I'd love to improve my closet for fall and the holidays to come. I might be investing in a new phone soon. I use a Samsung Note 8 and it's pretty amazing for photos but is almost 2 yrs old now. I do have an expensive camera I could use I just havent tried that yet. I like doing everything on my phone. I use snapseed and that's it but it often distorts the item. Thank you for sharing these tips. I can't recommend a lighting kit unfortunately. Mine was meant to be about $100 on amazon but I got it half off through an app I love called vipon. I did make one bigger sale this morning on an amazing designer jacket that was so gorgeous and also vintage and the awesome thing about it is that I got it for free from a friend long ago but never wore it bc it's not my size! She low balled me at first. I considered accepting but then communicated with her and looked at the things she'd been buying which included a bag for $2900 and another for $1500... everything she purchased was high end so I wasnt afraid to counter because the jacket was definetly well worth what i had it marked at. I did give her about 35% off in the end but that's fine its still $107 profit for me! So that was a small win today! But back to the lights they are agitating but honestly I am grateful for them even in their state of despair. I only have one working now but I was able to photograph a few things this morning and it was a very grey, wet day out so I wouldn't have had much luck outside. Typically my favorite lighting is natural lighting outdoors bc it doesnt come into my living space much. 💖Joy

You could just eliminate the background with GIMP (free software) or Photoshop (paid software). You can also do you lighting and color correction on those applications as well

Linda Sullivan thank you!!! You’d love to use Instagram for what? Just to get plugged into the IG community? If so, I suggest downloading the app on your phone and creating a profile for yourself! In terms of finding other resellers to follow, you can search for people by using hashtags to find other likeminded people. I hope that helps!

I think you’ll find a lot of like-minded people that way.

Baadja-Lyne Odums unfortunately, you have to go through the physical act of listing things from Poshmark over to mercari. That’s why I use listperfectly-it makes it go so fast. It takes me under a minute to crosslist from Poshmark to mercari. It does come with a price tag, though. I have the link in my descriptions if you’re interested!

I’ve always thought your closet had really good pictures nice to know you don’t have a ring light or whatever I have seen that even a lighting kit isn’t bright enough. I only have tan walls: ( does the editing in other apps for every photo take a lot of time too?

I have been using a other pic editor but changed over to pic tap go and I love it! Thank you so much :) I did wonder though, since you cross post on Mercari. Do you have a problem getting your edited photos to work with Mercari? I can edit them, post them to Poshmark, then go over to Mercari and it’s back to the original photo with a bunch of shadows? I save the changes and do no keep copies so I’m not just uploading the incorrect ones. Any guidance would be so appreciated!
