Christmas Time has joined the pantheon of immortal Christmas classics, it's probably one of the last great Christmas songs. It's still played to this day because at the time and now, it's self-evidently a magnificent song, melodically, compositionally and productionally. Cream rises to the top.

My 11th birthday was in 2003. I got a guitar because of permission to land and I've been playing ever since. I love this man. Sure, I love his art and have rocked out a billion times to it… but I love his heart and humanity more. I met him 6-7 years ago, for a brief few minutes… I had much too much to say, and so didn’t say much. But he was so polite, very kind, and humbly appreciative. I will never forget that. And it is him I heard tonight, on Christmas of the roughest year ever. How lovely… I’m grateful.

I mean the Gary Jules cover . . . . isn't a Christmas song? It wasn't intended to be like you said. It is used in cinema and television HEAVILY though. IT has become a Go-to piece to tug at people's heart strings. Not exactly what most people need for keeping children cheerful and looking forward to upcoming holiday events. But extremely beautiful and necessary for storytelling year round in any other season ha.

Your voice sits so harmoniously inside my head and it carries so wonderfully across the airwaves.

There’s an absolute magic to the recordings from that time. The Solo on I love you 5 times is astonishing and the guitar tone on Christmas time is outrageous - just a band completely in the zone. I was listening to Scott Mills on R2 on Thursday talking about how hard he pushed Gary Jules' song and questioning if it was, in retrospect, right for him to have done that. One caller said he'd won ££hundreds putting a bet on Gary Jules because Mills wash pushing it so hard. Interesting how DJs on R1 (as he was then) can have so, so much influence. Both are great tunes, just one isn't as fun! Merry Christmas!

I remember tuning in to the BBC top 10 countdown in 2003 (which I would not normally do) just praying TD had made it to the No.1 spot. Simon Cowell was on there as a guest and laid into TD saying they were just a cheap Queen mimic band. If ever there was a truly gigantic bellend ringpiece.... it's him. The industry has history of cooking the chart books when it suited them.
