A good place to start setting boundaries is to say ‘no’ to almost everything. You can always say ‘yes’ to a few things you really want to. Knowing not everyone is going to be your friend and just let those people go, is another boundary I had to learn; I was constantly‘auditioning’ to being someone’s friend.

All my life I was a people pleaser. Now I have np saying NO,especially to toxic people that are only users and takers. If you aren't reciprocating the same energy back,I cut you off and move forward with my life. I refuse to tolerate gaslighting or abuse. My boundaries won't be broken in 3 years,5 years,10 years,20 years. Basically my NO MEANS NO. I'm not changing it and people know the reason why. They shouldn't keep questioning why. I no longer tolerate chaos from energy vampires and my energy is precious to me and it's not for narcs. I don't feel guilty or any shame for placing myself ,my sanity, and my mental health first and foremost.

Obstacles: 1) Knowing how your boundaries will affect others makes you feel uncomfortable Solution - Showing compassion towards yourself 2) People don't appreciate equally Solution - know your worth and don't settle for less 3) Fear of abandonment and rejection Solution - Gradually detach from the need for approval from others through affirmations and self-love

I found things easier after I stopped listening to the words (they're usually untrue, self censored or manipulative) and went with what the rest of them was saying, you see the Cluster B stare or the Narcissist preening ect along with the entitlement and the emotions of other people too. At the very least it gives your head a break from being overwhelmed.

I have had viscious fear of abandonment issues from childhood that started disabling me well into my adult life. I allowed narcissistic family members back into my life like a broken record skipping until a year ago when i decided to figure myself out. People definitely didnt like my boundaries and, it definitely caused me pain putting them up. A year later its still an issue but every day it gets a little better. Im looking forward to each new day with its endless positive possibilities instead of waking up dreading the negatives. I agree that affirmations definitely help!

I wish I had realised this much earlier in life. My family is made up of three narcissists, my parents and my sister, they had constantly tried to push my boundaries, to make me do things for them, which I did for years...to the point of buying a house for them, paying for school for my sister...etc etc. I ended up marrying an abusive man, and the circle never seemed to end. I am out of that finally, after many many years of therapy. I have learned to say no, and have learned to express my needs in a healthy way, and set boundaries. I now feel compassion for myself, I use to feel pity, and pity is so disabling, compassion is actually empowering. Thank you.

What we have to remind ourselves, the kind of people this video is about, is that not everyone has the same mindset. This is kind of hard to put into practice. Lots of apathetic people out there, making it even more challenging… gosh… I hope I, people like us, can have a better experience while we’re here on this plane. By the way, thank you so much for sharing this important information!

First of all you are adorable. The thing is if you give someone something, dont expect anything back. Give it as if you know you will not get it back. You are doing it for you and the universe at large, you are not neccessarily giving it only for them. Everyone benefits, both you and them. And if you dont feel like giving, then you simply dont give. Important thing not to be a people pleaser always.

Automatically saying yes is a red flag. A friend lost her job. I stopped giving her money at a certain point. She actually paid me back. If I had given her too much $$$ it would have been difficult for her. I realized I'm nobody's savior. They must save themselves. NB: Yes, friend did lose her sht when I stopped feeding her. I've come from a difficult childhood (CSA) and a lifetime of service (military -- war -- PTSD) and compassionate ministries -- that has left me depleted physically and emotionally -- and only by going into hermit mode to take care of myself physically, emotionally, and spiritually -- stop playing all the games and rules and trying to fill all the expectations that I'd been trying to fill -- and set up new boundaries and decide I was not going to play the games any longer. I was redefining the game and making my own rules -- I started doing and now teaching Tai Chi, meditation, breathwork, and found a new level of enlightenment -- and my empathetic gifts have actually amplified and become more sensitive through this period of being in my hermit mode -- and as I've been reentering the world I'm more open and more sensitive to respond to the needs of others

Iv allways felt diffrent. In past jobs if i was asked to do somthing i would do it, even making myself sick or injered. I get to anxious to say no if asked to do something and try and make people happy. I ended up with drug and drink adiction for a long, long time and other users took advantage of my kindness. Im 7 months sober and sitting in my room in a recovery house, just saw a video about empaths and its like someone discribed my whole life! My mind is blown, thank you for this video ❤

This is absolutely correct as I have learned over the past few years. I have cut everyone out of my life from the past. My daily mantra goes like this: I am detached independent and free! I say no to everything and refuse to feel guilty. I guess no is also my new mantra! I am working on my own spiritual values and the biggest gift in all of this is that I don't feel lonely. Thank you for this!I feel like you have corroborated my decisions and that this post corroborates this video in return:-) I should add that I feel happier now more than i ever have!

Yes!!! I agree . Start big. It’s bold and drastic but it’s easier to start this way . I did this intuitively and when I realized that I had finally accomplished my goal , I freaked out a little bit bc I found myself alone . Yet, it is GOOD aloneness ! I now have time and space to introduce what I want. It’s not easy to convey my value but it has gotten much better . Looking forward to step into the version of me that I envision.
@annemarieINFJ
@annemarieINFJ Жыл бұрын
Yeah I did 90% of this stuff that I'm talking about intuitively and just naturally found what worked and didn't work. It's like redesigning a home, it's much easier to get all the clutter out and start with a blank space, then envision what you want and start to add things in one at a time. And when someone tries to bring you their old crusty couch, you can tell them no, sorry that doesn't fit my aesthetic.
@bpassion4fashion581
@bpassion4fashion581 Жыл бұрын
@@annemarieINFJ Love It!!! Love the couch analogy. That’s exactly right. I think I reached this point of “clearing the house “ when I couldn’t take the agonizing- exhausting and crazy-making of pleasing too many people at the same time anymore. Another thing I want to add is that, this learned pattern can be persistent. I have actually found myself down the rabbit hole EVEN after I thought I healed it, but the one thing is for sure is that I am able to remove myself from that space with much clarity and speed. So no beating on ourselves if it takes a few tries…

I love this, and would like to add that narcissists like to further entrap their victims by discarding them when both people are vulnerable. This will make it feel like you are the causer of the chaos. It will also enliven your abandonment trauma feelings if you have a bond to that trauma. Just because someone has devalued you, doesnt mean that you were the cause or that you are a problem. We must remain responsible for our actions, feelings, and emotions by understanding that they were perceived in the past. They arent truly a resemblance of who we are now. Our peace exists to serve an environment of growth for ourselves and the acceptance of our identities. This is important to cultivate a proper infrangibility in your personality. You are fearless. Unbreakable. Self-serving. From an abundant source, we can strive to be a better version of ourselves. Moment by moment: become your own hero. Love and blessings! I have experienced much suffering and hardship on this front. I am open to sharing and learning more too.

Hi I'm a super empath and can feel the feelings and emotions of others from across a room. I does brazilian jiu-jitsu as a hobby to destress and stay in shape and I work security. I do have boundaries, but the skill of 'not reacting to anything' is a superpower. I view humans as the worst animals on earth and cut them down to size only when it's necessary. You can however destroy your antagonists by saying and doing absolutely nothing, which is far more rewarding and powerful. My advice is to get clued up on the opposition, which are.....all types of narcissists, psychopaths, sociopaths, energy vampires and all of their telltale signs. The rest is your own mind control, along with honing your perception and patience skills. Logic will always shine through all deceivers....an example of this would be people who say 'there's people who play, and people who get played with.' Translated into logic that means 'there's people who passively aggressively bully other people, and people who don't.' I was never one who buys into bullshit reasoning behind the unhappiness and jealousy of others..... I'd rather just cut them out of my life, or hand them down respect. Remember, you are a spirit trapped in the body of a human being, and this is all one big test.

Wise words! Very insightful. It's a hard road putting other peoples feelings before your own. Putting these boundaries in place is really tough and scary and doing it alone can feel overwhelming. I think when you first put your boundaries in place people will be hurt and not like you but it is necessay in order to not allow people to walk all over you and value yourself. I think you will be alone after putting boundaries in place but hopefully you will then attract the type of people that we respect you as much as you respect them.

I think people tend to mistake people who are "nice guys" as being people who are doing things to people please with the expectation of a return on their investment. So many motivational videos mistake this with the empathic person. What empathic people want is for the other person to realize that the time and energy given to them is a gift that is freely given, we don't want a gift back, we just want them to appreciate our gift. But, like you said, people despise things that are free because it has no value. It wasn't free for us, but it was free for them and free things to non empathic people are just like samples at the grocery store. Use it up and walk away without appreciating it. I think it's a way for empaths to communicate by giving, but when other people don't understand that, it's hard to not get discouraged

I’m tired of over reflecting people (mirror neurons) over reflecting > looping life experience, how can I move to be a creator instead (inside out) not outside in, some days I’m better at it and other days I fall back into empathy which I think is traumatic even when it’s “comfortable”.

Just some clarity regarding sensitivity; there are two types, the one who is hypersensitive and reactive to others; assuming every comment is directed toward themselves by others; also known as “narcissism” and the ones who are highly sensitive to the emotions, and degree of intensity of said emotions, of others, whether they like it or not, which is the infj.

What type of boundaries can I set when people are asking serious personal questions that are offensive to me? What should I say to that person to let them know I do not want to share anything personal in my life? Without being to offensive?

Different topic-- Allegedly I'm an empath too, but I think it's important to critique the individualist culture of "the self"because "setting boundaries" can be an ideology of indifference to your neighbor. The Good Samaritan went out of his way to help not as a compulsive "do gooder". But because ( like an empathic human) his "heart broke" for the man he helped.

The issue is one of motivation. To help others can come from a place of concern for them versus our "needing" to help to validate ourselves which is not true charity

You can't set boundaries if you don't own yourself, if you don't belong to yourself. You can't set a fence around a piece of public park or beach and claim it as your own, because it is not yours, it does not belong to you. To set boundaries, you first have to know yourself, belong to yourself.

So if you have any consideration for the the effect your choices have on others then you're "bearing the weight of their emotions"?

Chad will always talk you into breaking your rules or boundaries. Its good that woman are at least realising that they are on a high speed collision course with the wall in their mid twenties. But the problem is youve let the pirates get the best of your treasure. Trying to rewrite traditions has just ended up like a dropped pie. Be realistic when valuing yourself, because at the end of the day the true worth of anything is based on what someone wants to pay for it.

watch out for narcs(energy vampires) esp highly skilled covert ones. empaths are magnets to these types, darkness can recognize light from a far distance

We can't set boundaries simply because we care too much. It shouldn't be abnormal.

When you set those boundaries with narcissistic family members, that's when they gas-light the fk out of you that you're a narcissist.

Yes setting boundaries is hard, you want to be sure not to burn any bridges. But also take consistent baby steps to get yourself financially and emotionally free of other people
